It's a relatively easy one to wait for, it's really a collection of FX in one integrated GUI. Anybody reading this, can, I'm sure, duplicate what it does with a handful of freeware plug-ins and samples. But if you regularly have the need to turn pristine audio into distressed audio, it's the best tool I've tried (although I've not yet tried LO-FI AF). It's nice to have all the processors in one place.
I passed on it a few times thinking I could duplicate that with a few things on hand. But the demo seems like a nice one-stop-shop!
Be nice to grab at the next sale!

Plugin Boutique had it for $19 last year. Should have jumped then! ?
The sales listed at this link are no longer active (expired). This is just historical info...

ahh sorry - I was flagging it because you were saying that you didn't think you could use your own MIDI - apart from in 'Bandmate'.
Never tried using anything but the Toontrack factory MIDI, other than the Bandmate in EZD3.
Assuming that EZkeys 2 will inherit the EZB and EZD3 user folder features, it should be good to go with your own MIDI. I didn't intend to make it any more confusing...

EZdrummer 3 MIDI:
QuoteGrooves Tab Header Bar Options
Show MIDI from Subfolders: Show MIDI files from
Subfolders only applies to user-added linked folders, and
sub-folders containing 3rd party MIDI files. When you select show MIDI Files from Subfolders and
then click on a user-linked MIDI folder in the browser
section, you will see all MIDI files in this folder, and all
MIDI files in all subfolders in the results area. If this is
unchecked, you will only see the MIDI files that are in the
root folder. You would then need to click on the
subfolder in column 2 in order to see these MIDI files.Add Linked Folder: Here you can add a user-created folder
of drum MIDI to the EZdrummer 3 browser. Clicking this
option will open an operating system window that will allow
you to browse for the folder. Again, the above option of show
MIDI Files from subfolders only applies to user-linked foldersQuoteGrooves Tab Search Filters
ADDING MIDI CONTENT AND THE USER MIDI FOLDER
MIDI can be added to EZdrummer 3's Grooves tab in a few
ways:Purchase/install additional Toontrack MIDI packs.
MIDI packs in all genres are available at Toontrack.com,
or from the many Toontrack dealers worldwide.Add a Linked folder of 3rd party MIDI files to the folder
browser section of the Grooves tab. Adding linked folders to
the folder browser is done by clicking the Options Menu >
User MIDI and Linked Folders > Add Linked Folder. You will
then navigate to the folder on your computer.Add MIDI files to the User MIDI Folder in the Folder Browser.
User MIDI files can be dragged onto the root or
subfolders in the folder browser section to be added to
the Grooves page. Alternatively, you could click the
arrow on the User MIDI folder and select Open in Finder
(or Explorer, PC) and then add MIDI to this operating
system window. -

you can import MIDI into EZD3 and SD3, I suspect you will be able to do that in EZK2
Here is what the EZbass manual says about user libraries. I assume that EZkeys 2 will be similar:
QuoteUSER LIBRARIES
Any grooves you modify or create from scratch can easily
saved into your User MIDI. To save a groove within EZbass,
simply drag it into the user MIDI folder in the library browser. You can choose to save an entire groove, or only its MIDI and
chord track. Within the search results, MIDI is always saved as a
full groove. From the song track, if the entire groove is selected,
the entire groove will be saved when you drag it into the user
MIDI folder. If you select only the MIDI, only the MIDI track and
the chord track will be saved. This is a subtle difference, so we
recommend always saving the entire groove. Also:
QuoteAny MIDI in your User MIDI library is added to search results, but
only with automatically generated tags. There are a two tags you
can control yourself: Name and Family. Name is simply the name
of the MIDI file. Family is the name of the containing folder,
excluding subfolders. This gives you a measure of control over
the structure of your User MIDI. One way of setting the Library
name of User MIDI is by moving files into Linked Folders. Just
remember that you can only modify and add grooves to folders
within the user MIDl folder. -

From my understanding, with version 2, you will be able to drag and drop midi files in it.
Unless I am mistaken, that only applies to "Bandmate" where you can drag and drop your own MIDI there in order to find matching MIDI in the EZkeys 2 MIDI library. I haven't seen anything related to adding you own MIDI styles to the EZkeys libraries.
"Bandmate: Get chords and grooves based on your own audio or MIDI".
EDIT: after reviewing the user manuals for EZB and EZD3, I can only assume that their user folders features will be included in the new EZkeys 2, which will allow for external MIDI files to be used.

My Maxgrade from TS 3 is $299, minus 50 Jampoints it's $249.
All I really would like from the current offering is MODO Bass 2. That is $149 by itself, minus 50 Jampoints it's $99. Probably wait for a sale on that one!

Being someone unfamiliar with EZKeys, this is a bit concerning. Can you create your own MIDI styles or are you locked to theirs (I think I read that those MIDI packs are in a proprietary format)?
EZkeys 1 uses proprietary MIDI packs. You can select a genre and style, then see a list of available songs and song sections to browse and audition. You can edit/arrange them in the EZkeys song track (or the new grid editor), or drag the MIDI parts into your DAW. The styles and variations are designed to allow you to find the best match in your EZkeys collection to work with your song.
The larger your collection of MIDI packs, the more effective the Bandmate and Tap2Find assistance will be. They are new to EZkeys 2.
Personally I just collect MIDI packs when they go on sale, and ignore the addon sound expansions. I consider them unnecessary unless you just desire some for inspiration. But since you can pipe the MIDI out to any other VSTI, you are not limited to the stock sounds.
EDIT: if EZkeys 2 is patterned after EZB and EZD3, then the user folders feature should allow use of external MIDI patterns.

It ticks most of the "bread and butter" boxes, but where it pulls ahead of say, the Dead Duck collection, is in the more exotic sound design-y special effect-y ones like Ensemble, Tape Stop and Reverser.
The Dual Delay and Trance Gate are pretty cool effects as well...

The best part of Kilohearts Essentials is not some of the modules it has, but Snap Heap. Not only you can do really interesting things by combining the essentials modules inside it, you can also use Snap Heap itself as a module.
Yes, Snapheap is a very useful tool, but it is $29 payware. Not included in Essentials, as it is currently* one of their "premium" products.
*Kilohearts did include Snapheap in a limited time special offer last year, but that's no longer available.

I do love the way that Chromaphone sounds, but I already have so many great synths! $79 is a very tempting price (I almost pulled the trigger on it for $99 a while back).
Be careful if you do buy it on sale. Or you might end up buying ALL of the rest of the sounds to complete the collection for it like I did!

But all software is like that. There's no escape. You either take the time to read the instructions or sit there being stupid and mad that nothing works the way YOU think it should work. Software is made by Geeks, you have to be a Geek to get it to work. If you are not a Geek, find something else to do with music. like play in a band or busk in the subway.
I have been using Cakewalk on and off for 25 years. And I'm still learning new things about it. And I'm a geek!
Yes, there is a huge learning curve, but I suspect there are very few others like John that know every nook and cranny...
Most users probably never need to know everything about Cakewalk to make music with it. Just define what you want it to do for you now, and focus on learning those tools.

Sometimes it pays to procrastinate. I bought EZkeys Cinematic Grand in December 2020 from Time+Space for whopping €19.21 and forgot to register it. I just did and the EZkeys 2 upgrade and core library are now showing as upcoming products in TT Product Manager. ?
That there is the "Deal of the Month", for sure!!! ?

They posted that on twitter. I hope they will release in Essential . It's powerful so can be paid too
As Sander mentioned, Granular is only a sound generator within the Phase Plant synth. Approximately similar to the one in Arturia Pigments.
They did also add a sample editor, which is available in the premium kHs Convolver effect (for editing IRs), but that effect is not included in "Essential".

So people with unregistered sound expansion serials are still out of luck. Not cricket, Toontrack.
You would expect Toontrack to at least offer an upgrade for the old merchandise. As you have already paid for it, but not gotten any use of the product yet. ?

IK Renews Its Software Range - Featuring more affordable prices with more accessible upgrades (not a deal)

I was just going over the "12 new" Syntronik Synths that IK is including in TSM 4, to see what was actually "new".
I have Syntronik 2 MAX and was curious about what extra you are getting here in TSM 4. I only found 1 synth that is not part of my Syntronik 2 MAX collection, the Synth-X. https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/synsynthx/index.php?p=info
It appears that this synth was released after the other current IK bundles were released, so it is a "single" one-off that is apparently making its first appearance in a bundle (unless I'm overlooking something). So if you already have Syntronik 2 MAX, you may want to consider this redundancy.
This all reminded me of a big strength of the Syntronik collection, the lesser known synths that have not really been emulated elsewhere. I had a play with one of them today, the "Sorcerer" (included in Syntronik 2 MAX and Total Studio MAX 4). It has some really nice tones and character!!! I have a lot of other different Moog emulations, but there is something special about this one!
From the IK description:
"The Sorcerer offers the distinctive timbres of the legendary Moog source, two fat analog oscillators through the legendary Moog 24 dB per octave transistor ladder filter. In many ways, the Source was a programmable Minimoog capable of generating massive basses and superior leads."
