Cakewalk Marker Deletion (non intuitive UI) Observation
CSistine replied to Sridhar Raghavan's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I don't understand! There is a "-" in the Markers view! -
Just be aware that they have this awful "CodeMeter" authorization! That's the reason why I never will be a customer of them again! Even iLok was so much better!
-
PSP FETpressor? Yes, I know, it's totally awful, if a developer changes the authorization system! But for me it was worse, that some companies changed it away from iLok to online only machine activation! So no offline activation anymore! This should be forbidden, because it suddenly sets new requirements!

Are large vsts more likely to cause problems?
CSistine replied to T Boog's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
An intensive usage of cpu and memory can reveal hardware and software issues that maybe not visible with low processing. This can be caused by processings that are running in parallel and interrupt themselves or by stressing hardware resources. -
But not for a long time on the surface of the water! Somehow it was converted to a submarine. ?

The real waste is, if your language does not support strict rules for pronunciation to writing! ? The Swedes were tired of having words written either by W or V and it was pronounced the same. There were more improvements, too. Since then writing and reading has been much easier! ? It's something that the English speaking people should have done long ago! It's a waste to learn the spelling of each word separately, just because there are no clear rules (chaos)! ?
-
In nowadays Swedish there exists no letter W anymore (it has been decided in a language reform 100 years ago), except for some foreign words. So maybe we should call it VUP (Vågor = Waves)!

What's all this get(t)ing around here?

I've looked at the page and reading the instructions my hair stood on end, really! I'll avoid such plugin developers (even for free)! I maybe a plugin hoarder, but God forbid, I am really no Installation Manager hoarder! ?

Klevgrand Richter Tectonic Compressor FREE with Purchase at Audio Deluxe
CSistine replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
The same here! I catch me wasting hours to download, install, backup plugins and libraries instead of making music. But collecting gets tougher and tougher, because many plugin developers don't understand that people like me avoid online-only activations and installation manager only setups. There are some companies that missed hundreds of $ of me because of this! This is no joke, really! -
Re-Activation needed after just 18 days ?
CSistine replied to TracingArcs's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I reactivated offline with the new Install Manager on 2 systems and so far I did not have any problems. -
Yeah, but only in written language! Pronounced about as "je:t" (international phonetics) or if you want, something like "yeaht" ? in English.

Yes, life is so dreary without consuming plugin deals! -
Though, they have been taken over by NI, not Waves!

Yes, and I have RX 10 Standard and RX 9 Advanced. Before I wanted to upgrade RX9 Adv I compared what had been updated in 10. The result was very clear for me, almost everything of the update was contained in Standard. So I wondered why iZotope wanted me to pay a heavy sum to upgrade my Advanced! Their upgrade policy is very weird, I would have gained almost nothing!

Backstage Pass and Sonar Pricing
CSistine replied to norfolkmastering's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Have you ever worked with the programming interfaces of OS/2 ? Those have been designed in a really professional way (IBM)! Compare the amateurish Windows interfaces (MS) with them! Alone that in Windows name spaces are missing can cause a lot of trouble! Even nowadays it's obvious that Microsoft has grown out of the home pc market and not the professional IT. But YMMV! -
... and an integrated coffee machine!

Backstage Pass and Sonar Pricing
CSistine replied to norfolkmastering's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
And technically OS/2 was miles ahead of Windows (in some areas it still is)! A pity that it failed to compete, because not enough 3rd party software was supported! -
This is exactly why I've worked WITHOUT Start Screen for years now! Like that, no black magic accessing internet or not available resources (I prefer transparency)! Also, I disabled automatic plugin scan (do it manually, as I know if I have added/changed a plugin)! Since then I've never had any starting problems or delays. Runs perfect and starts quite fast even on my old laptop!

Introducing Engine Audio, a new software brand powered by Best Service!
CSistine replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
"An internet connection is required to authorize / activate the product." Regrettably there is internet required for activation, so I'll pass for all that is coming here! It seems the future is definitely worse than iLok (intransparent machine activations without offline choice!)! -
I have RX9 Advanced, so no interest! But for those that don't have some restoration plugins this is a exceptionally good deal IMHO!
-
It seems you're strayed! This is not the S1 thread! ? By the way I would never jump to S1 as DAW (although I have an Artist installation)! It has some nice functions, but overall it is very clumpy IMO. The plugin selection alone is a reason not to use it (confusing organization with partial priority on their own plugins). Compared to Reaper batch processing is weak, performance is worse, important things are not configurable, authorization and installation (update) is bad. But YMMV!
-
You describe here only the positive side IMHO! The negative is that the devs probably just care about things THEY like, i.e. things that not a lot of users are interested in! And with subs the voice of the users is somehow reduced! Yeah, I think with the "hybrid" model my comment above is alleviated, but maybe still valid.

Frankly, I don't understand people complaining about Reaper's "complexity"! You don't have to do all the sophisticated stuff that is possible to do with it, it's possible to use it very simply for recording and/or midi instruments, no big deal! And in the same time that you would waste with other DAWs for installing, backups and activation games you can really create some music with Reaper! Surely, also Reaper has some flaws, but compared to other DAWs that I worked with it is amazingly stable, efficient and even if you are not so sapient in music production (like me), you are able to gain access to functionality that people in other DAWs just dream of! And this all for a very fair price! ?
