First, when I uninstalled CbB it looked all okay in Platinum. But after some time I found out one thing: TH3 was missing, although I had it in a separate location and it was authorized without CbB. No big deal to get it running again, but irksome! Other than that I did not find any issues. The newer common files (from CbB) did work all the time for Platinum and so do they now!

Cakewalk now exclusively available through BandLab Membership
CSistine replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
I am glad that I already did some learning and some work with Reaper. I have a license since about 4 years. And it is a good feeling that I have this license forever and can install on all my future computers. It's a great DAW! Additionally I have Platinum and Sonar X3 to open my existing Cakewalk projects. I have no issues with those old projects, because luckily, I avoided to use some new features in CbB, like Arranger and Articulation Map. This was a wise decision! Regarding the BandLab decision I regret that they surely drift away from the professional market. I guess that in about half a year most professionals (maybe also many hobbyists) will have turned their back on Sonar! And I predict this will cause the decline of BandLab Sonar sooner or later! I guess on the long run only Sonar Next will survive. But we will see! -
Which Is The Most Popular Interface Brand Overall?
CSistine replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
I wonder that Behringer doesn't have a better place! I have a UMC404HD now 7 years and I am impressed by its hardware and driver quality! It is not my top interface (have also a Focusrite 18i20 gen2 and a Presonus Studio), I use it today just for my everything laptop. But its performance is unbeatable compared to the 2 other high end ones and I've never had any issues with the Behringers. Whereas I've had several issues with the Focusrite drivers and Presonus is never there with its performance. But YMMV. -
Plugin Alliance Storewide sale – 190+ plugins from just $9.99.

What a lame sale! There is almost nothing that I don't own under $37.49 (inc tax)! PA has become quite boring! -
Installing SPLAT after CBB - where are my VSTs?
CSistine replied to Steve Moddelmog's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Now I am using Splat and AFAIK that's what I miss: Take lanes: There were some bugs fixed, but there are still a lot present; so no essential change IMO New feature: Visual clip gain change New feature: Replace FX plugin The plugin selection dialog was improved visually Improved export MIDI file dialog New feature: Export tasks Instrument tracks support Stereo/Mono interleave All other improvements or bug fixes in CbB compared to Splat don't impact my workflows. A lot of the fixed bugs were caused by new features and thus are not present in Splat. All in all I can live with this reduction, no essential show stopper! But YMMV! -
Thanks a lot, Larry! I wanted to purchase this one several times, but waited, 'cos I knew you will get me the best price one day! ?

Offline authorization possible? -
You have to create a new offline authorization request on your OFFLINE system using the help menu of CbB: In the first prompt dialog enter exactly the same user ID as it was displayed in Command Center. Copy the saved offline request from your offline system to your online Command Center PC (e.g. using a USB stick). Open Command Center and login if not yet done. Check if the displayed user ID matches the one you entered 1. Choose the offline request file (the name does not matter!).
-
Don't say such unthought things! It could as well be next year .... or even later!
-
Please be aware that you use your "real" user id for login in Command Center and for creation of the offline request. Do not use your display name, this does not work (I had the same problem)! Look up in your BandLab Account Settings!

Yes, I agree! But I think the VX-64 Vocal Strip and PX-64 Percussion Strip are also available. Additionally, if you want you can install the SI instruments (SI-Drum Kit, SI-Bass Guitar, SI-Electric Piano and SI-String Section).

Even if they will have a perpetual license in the future, it differs for me whether the user can activate the perpetual license once on a system or if it is necessary to re-activate after a time interval! The latter would mean for me NO GO, because users would be completely in their hand and I am in doubt that I could trust in them on the long run! Who knows, maybe they drop Sonar once and cease the authorization servers! Who knows what "perpetual" really means for them? But YMMV!

AAS Jazz Café introductory sale, now $19 instead of $39:
CSistine replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
I wonder if anyone ever paid more than $19.00 for an AAS sound pak? ? -
You disappoint me, I thought you would say Melda! ?

Is this thread about Melda? ?

A subjective, subhuman subjection or a subliminal submerge? Does it substantially subsist? A subversive, suburban subversion IMHO!

@Bapu, @PavlovsCat, @Jim Roseberry, @Starship Krupa: I know that I am very awkward/clunky in explaining what I think, but I tried to express that the lifetime debacle is not the reason of my anger to the current company! It seems I have failed! The major issue that I have, is with some statements that were told in the first 2 years when BL had taken over Sonar. E.g. it was said (by Noel) that the purpose of the re-authorisation (for a free product) was only aimed to get information about what version of CbB was actually used. But recently they use the shorter timed re-authorisation to push/urge users to buy the backstage pass! Also in the beginning they gave the impression that we don't have to worry, CbB will always be free. But yes, you may state that I have been naive! It is true! In the end I am lucky compared to a lot of other CbB users that don't want to commit themselves to a sub, because I still own Platinum and X3! I can live with them (even X3 supports almost everything that I need, however I will miss some minor improvements)!
-
IMO your comparison lacks the real point! It was more like say you bought the name, whole production, parts and construction design of a automotive company and even a part of the employees! So almost everything, except the liabilities! This is what makes people questioning. But for me it is more important that I've lost faith in the people around Cakewalk, than the bitter pill of the lifetime purchase! IMO there were some flam statements and false impressions sowed on CbB, that are not true anymore. It reminds me of the practice of the banks with payment. In the 80s they wanted you to pay all electronically, so it was free. Then when everybody did use it and was dependent on it, it was suddenly costly!

Refusing any kind of subs and having these nasty nag screen to re-activate CbB now after just a few weeks (very annoying if you're offline), I decided today to uninstall Cakewalk! I am very sad! ? After the Gibson debacle and this now they have exhausted my confidence! Will be using Reaper and Platinum (as long as possible, else I still have Sonar X3 that has offline authorisation)! My fault, I should have bet on another horse long ago!
-
Though with a new PC you are not bound to UAD! ?
-
Some times ago I had problems, because I used the same e-mail for NI and iZotope. I had to adjust to the same password to make it work on both sites! I guess it has to do with their fusion!
-
Somehow it reminds me of Cakewalk upstairs! ?

Cakewalk saying I need to reactivate before 12 days
CSistine replied to JeffSouth's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Frankly the new re-activation time is really annoying! On my laptop I reactivated only 17 days ago and there it is again! ? I think that their "fake" reason to change the activation server caused by "technical" changes is just not true! I suspect it was more to reduce the validity to just some days! I am close to skip CbB and jump to Platinum or X3 together with Reaper! Better to skip this re-activation nag and lose some minor (for me at least) improvements (in Platinum/X3, not in Reaper)! It is sad, so sad! -
The Eternal Question: VST2 or VST3 and Nu Sonar?
CSistine replied to Resonant Serpent's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
As far as I can see they are mostly in "Documents\VST3 presets\<provider>\<plugin>\*.vstpreset".
