I checked at everyplugin.com and all I have is Grand Rhapsody and it would be a little too much for what I would get. As I see it I would get 7 new plugins, with only 5 of them I really would want. I have 3 of them already in Mercury. And if goes like Matt suggests would it be worth it? It still would only be $20 a plugin....
-
But I thought Mercury included *all* plugins, including instruments?

Me not happy : (

Sweet!! I wonder if we gonna get it Larry?

Freddy, I can relate about getting up out the chair!! I was chuckling in more than a few spots. Good song, well done and the playing is spot on. In fact the guitar tone for the solo reminded me of the the theme song from HBO Boardwalk. And I love that tone!!

My wife asks me when I come downstairs, "Why you have to listen to the same thing so many times?" LOL!
-
I think it would have been easier to draw it. Why didn't you try that? Just trying to understand.

That last post John, that's the attitude!! I do what your thinking of doing. When I write my song, and I get the melody down on a quick take so I don't forget it. Then I practice off that take. I call it a guide take. And when it gets a little better, I use the new and improved version as the new guide take!! And on and on. I usually get three to four guide takes before it's good enough. But I didn't always do that. I was just like you and the vocals got the least amount of work because Iwas in such a hurry and wanted to hurry up and get it done.

That's what I was thinking the whole time I was watching the video!! It fit in so well, did he get an actor? Production crew? Man how much would....!! : ) Agree with Tom, you worked that video in perfectly. Great job. Nice work. Very good example of working with what you got. Excellent job. Love the solo's. Really good licks in there and tone. Mixed and mastered very well. All clean and clear. Wouldn't change a thing. Nice wave sound at the end also. One little niggle: On your Spec page you state "via IK Multimedia’s Guitar Rig 5 plugin." Was it Native Instruments GR5 or IK's Amplitube?
-
I noticed this too. But wrote it off thinking it was my mobile connection. So I really didn't watch him playing, just listened!

John, if I might offer a suggestion, in one of my previous posts I pointed out to you where your vocal sounded relaxed. That sounded good. If you could take that part and expand on that style you are doing there, that would help. And to do this will take practice, lots of it. All of us here that has learned an instrument (including the art of mix/mastering) has put in many many hours to learn and become better. The voice is an instrument also. It takes lots of practice to develop it just as much as a piano, cello, bass, or what ever. Give yourself a chance. I think you got it in you. All of us that has listened can hear it. Don't cut yourself short so quick. : )

When I listened to this I thought it fit right in on Outlaw Country. Great tune. (Just listened to Gentle and now Crawl). Nice recording. You must have got rid of the hum because I didn't notice it. I think what others are saying about 'out of tune' is the chorus you got going on. Sounds great to me. I love chorus! Really like "Gentle!"

I love the piano riff in the beginning and the end. Excellent work. On my third listen. I don't hear anything I would change in the mix. It did become more powerful at the end, which helps with that piano riff coming back in for the finish. Just lovely. Have to agree with Tom, very peaceful. What I like is the feel of the piano. Very softly played. Not banged on. When the drums come in it gets really powerful on headphones. Really fills up the sound. Excellent mix I think. About the reverb on the strings, maybe on the very end section (3:00) add some more? But as is, really good work. Listening to 'The Arrival' on headphones, my that's some low end there!! Reminds me of the sound test in the theaters!!

Excellent job on the recording. You recorded that guitar? I never heard a finger noise at all! Again, excellent job. The mix is clean, clean, balanced. Great vocal performance too!! Listening to 'Like A Son' nice guitar solo. Love that tone. Lynn is right, some good music over there.
-
Really good balanced mix. I liked the type of song you created. Just really well done. I am listening to Aura of Eclipse. That sounds really good too. Nice sax sound. Your synth work on both tunes is really nice, very pleasing sound. I wouldn't change a thing on either sound. The end of Aura Eclipse is really nice! Listening to Starlight now. That's quite a tune. Great synth work. Great mix too!! Very creative and futuristic. Got a new Follower.

I think this is a better mix John. Piano does stand out more. I didn't hear a loud bass note at all. And I went back to the spot you pointed out and I still didn't hear anything. The whisper I can't really hear. But together they are too up front. Maybe give the whisper some highs? More hp filter? a little 1 -2db high self filter? This was both on the work speakers and my HP. I saw your credits down at the bottom. : )

Ouch!! Didn't see that when I was over there.

Erik, I got something like this and the recordings with it are digital, and they are really good. I can then d/l them to CbB and do what I want with them. Really good for what your talking about with minimum investment. Learn how to use it, hit start, set the level, record the whole jam, d/l the file, send it to you! The mics on it will surprise you! -
John I use EZ Keys too. Great program. I'll do the same thing, grab something I like from the browser and 'adjust it' to fit what I am going for. Also starting to use Band In A Box for the same thing. To just write stuff. Ok so it ain't you playing, but put it more up front, it sounds good!! : ) You did fine job on the arrangement.

Anyone use Liquid Notes?

Nice little setup husker.

John it's a nice arrangement. Listened to it on my headphones and to me the bass was too up-front. On my work speakers it's not as upfront, but on both I thought the piano needed to be more up-front. Love when the strings come in. And as I listened I was enjoying your playing. That's why the piano needs to be more up-front. To highlight your piano playing. Vocals could come down in spots. Your vocals sound almost (I'm going to use someone else's description here because I think it fits) like your reading them from a page. Not from your head. Here's a part that sounds like your really relaxed and just letting it flow: that first line in the second verse "So much to say behind the curtain" and the next line that follows. Both lines sound relaxed and you can hear it in your voice. Some of the other lines sound like you not sure. Nice song. A shout out to George H 'My Guitar' ?
