  1. Agreed. For the price they ask? No, they don't offer enough to make it worth any Bang-For-The-Buck investment. Yep. This is just me thinking out loud, but if they offered WUP like they do the $29 plugins, they may have another steady stream of income.
  2. You may be asleep a long time!!
  3. Yes the Apollo gets hot. This surprised me how warm it got. Same with my old RME Fireface. It gets hotter than I expected it too. I was looking at a octo PCIe card to go with the Twin. The price wasn't that much more than the quad, so I figured why not just go for that. Did not think of the heat issue in the box. Going do some research.
  4. RME is another example. I have both. Well said Tommy. Carlos, I am a tightwad, and will try to get by as cheap as I can. But what I have found out doing this for some years is what Tommy said that I quoted. I learned that with guitars very early on. Same thing with amps, and mics, and so on. You get what you pay for. And I have great amps, and guitars, and mics. Guess where my weak link was? Recording signal chain. The UA Apollo Twin solved that problem. So believe me when I say I understand your point in that looking at it from outside the "UA Environment" it looks as though you will spend lots of money for.... not much return. No bang for buck. I had a chance to buy a UAD-2 Quad for a real good price, but passed it up. And the reason was I didn't want to get sucked down what I thought would be a money pit. Today, I regret that decision. Another thing I found unexpectedly from using the Unison Technology is that I can go straight/print to tape. I did not think that was an option I would use. But I always struggled with getting my vocals to sit right in a mix. Using the Neve 73 channel strip, I was able to hear what this could really do. Vocals sounded clear, focused, and on top from the very beginning! Exactly what I had be fighting with. This alone will save me many hours of struggle. Then I did the same vocal on the API and the SSL, and all three had different character, but still maintained the clarity and focus I had always missed. After hearing these results, I quickly concluded that there is no problem for me to go straight to tape!! In fact, I'm better off! : ) I could go on and on with other things, but the point being I was a non believer until I heard, until I listened!! Zo, I have RME too. And I can get good results mic'ing and DI (same time) my guitar performances with my old Fireface. But I have not yet put the RME and the UA Unison Technology side by side with my guitar. That's the next thing on my list of to-do's. I wonder how the speakers play a part in this. I only have KRK V6's as monitors. My amps have 12" Celestion's.
  5. Not sure they will move totally to just Thunderbolt. USB3 is almost what TB is. Haven't tried the Century yet. I have my demo's reset so I can give it a whirl. Not sure what your going for here. We not getting along well it seems. Let's just leave it that way.
  6. Not upset. But you confirmed you were laughing at me, not with me. Love sarcasm too. Love the forum too. Very helpful. I understood what I was getting when I bought the Apollo Twin. (Got it for a steal, with a lot of plugins along with it!!) Don't know if your aware of UA's Unison Technology. Works great btw. And that was the main reason I got the Twin. No, not trapped. Actually, the UA environment is exactly what I was wanting, as I stated above: Unison Technology. Not sure what the $890 is in reference to. Or the 3/4 plugins. Is that 3 or 4 plugins? Or only three-fourths of a plugin? More sarcasm that I am not getting? Don't know if you can see my spec for my PC, but I have all of Waves plugins, mostly all PA, Melda, PSP, IK, Nomad, and more than enough power to run what I need. I won't be wanting for anything. Nope, UA with Unison Technology, something the PC can't do! UA for the win! Good try.
  7. We are starting to thread the needle here!!
  8. @Carlos not understanding your response. What did I say that was funny? I want in on the joke too!!
  9. So... I am new to this, and only have a Apollo Twin, and after adding 3 or 4 plugins, I start hitting the max limit. Does that sound right? Or am I doing something wrong?
  10. @garybrun, I ended up getting Oceanway, Avalon strip, API Vison strip, and the SSL 4e strip. I used all except the Avalon. Used the Neve 73, the API , and the SSL to record some vocals and I very much enjoyed all three. Using these three with the Unison tech just makes all the difference. Each strip I used I just really concentrated on the pre-amp. I did use the comp sparingly, a little EQ, but really just worked on the pre. Each one seems to have a sweet spot. No regrets with any of the three. The Maney VoxBox to me gives the vocals a focus I hadn't heard before. Really looking forward to working more with it. Oceanway was more of a surprise to me. I had to work a little more to get what I was looking for cause I really didn't know what to expect. Once I just let it go, I was able to get great results with it. Love it!! And that's just with the remic'ing setting!!
  11. I was going to say the same thing!!!
  12. @Matthew Sorrels Looking through my emails closer I did find a shipping email. I ordere3d on the 5jun2020 and recieved the shipping email on the 6Jun2020. Sorry for confusion. Says I should get it today. But as of now have not received it yet.
  13. @Matthew Sorrels No, I haven't gotten one yet. In fact, I went to my MF account and I don't see the order. But when going to my PayPal account money was definitely paid. So at this moment, IDK.
  14. I guess MF is cleaning out the space and getting rid of boxed versions of sw. No one buys that anymore. We all shop online, right?
  15. Works for me. When I click it I get to a page that is selling Stobe 2 foe $20
  16. Well I picked this up. Hope it don't require iLok
  17. Has anyone tried using them with Metal songs/music. They all pretty much sound like that's what they were shooting for. There is no walking bass line that I found in the groovs... yet.
  18. @ZincT Zinc Obelisk has some really good features, such as the ability to change what chord will trigger when it played. (IOW a maj or min as an example, but all options exists). It can be done by selecting which key you press on the keyboard that will set it to play the predetermined chord, hit that key again and it goes back to the other chord. Here is the great thing about it: The key that you set up to trigger the change, can be mapped to a midi note! So you can make those chages on the fly, or use this setup to change chords using the midi editor in your DAW. I use it this way in CbB. Here is something I came up with. It shows what I did with Obelisk. The intro was EZK part modified by me, then the chords you hear after that was Obelisk with the input of A, G#, G, F#. I just put those in on a whim.Never intending to create anything. But what I was getting I liked and so I kept working on it! After one minute the chords change to A (which is keyswitched to a different type of A) E, and C. After that part (1:21) I still used the chords that Obelisk generated and put them into EZK, and that's what ya hear. I did make lots of edits to the EZK midi to help it work with what I was going for. HTH
  19. My biggest gripe with it.
  20. I love it. This is something I had wanted for a long time. I can start with a regular piano chord, then with the options I can turn it into what I am looking for while still being in key. For me it works great. Again, I love it.
  21. I have had good results for what I am going for. I like old school low end bass lines with a laid back feel. Think Pink Floyd, Skynyrd, and the Doobie Brothers. I am still in the learning phase I can tell you that for sure, and it's not as easy as it is to get results with EZD or EZK. My first outings with it on one of my songs I was getting really good results on my Surface PRo, which is a touch screen. Trying to do the same song on my main music computer hasn't been as successful, IDKW. But I think I can get better bass lines out of it than I can play. That's for sure. I still think Toontrack hit it out the park on this one. I really do. I still love this software and it will be used for everysong I will make from now on.
  22. Me too. I went to the site, looked around and thought, no I must be wrong!! I ain't looking at this right!! Apparently not!!
  23. This Kompelte Select doesn't have the full Kontakt?
