My dad was a professional photographer for a living. After getting married he went into doing commercial catalog work for all of the major catalogs. Sears, JCP, Montgomery Wards etc. He also did a great amount of Herrschners catalog when it was done on transparencies large format cameras. Back in the day. Sears cancelled or should I say walked away from big contract where my dad worked and the place shut down. He was offered tons of free lance work but being 60 at time really didn't want to travel like he did when he was young. The art director from Herrschners sent my dad a letter that they would like my dad to continue photographing for them. He ended up hooking up with the assistant he trained 20 years prior and did Herrschners catalog until he retired at age 68. I learned a lot about taking photos from my dad and always looked forward to fall as we would take black and white foliage pictures with 120mm film. TLR camera if that means anything to you. We had a blast dodging and burning in the darkroom. Now it is a distant memory.
