UPDATE: I just looked at the 'drag and drop options' in Track View Options, and 'copy entire clips as linked clips is unchecked'.
-
Interesting point, because I am aware of the 'linked clip' option when duplicating a track, but I never check it, and I was going to look up what it means today. Thanks for the link. I dragged the clip from one to track another, with Ctrl/left-click (my usual method). Could that cuase the linked clip - but I have to say this is the first time that's happened. But, I'm not sure if I've ever tried it with clips that have FX added.

I'm regularly adding reverb to midi tracks. My question, though, is about reverb (EW Spaces and Breverb) being carried over from a clip to another track (which does not have those plugins applied.
-
I'm copying a clip from a midi track (Musio solo cello) with no reverb on it, to a duplicate of that track, but the copied clip has a LOT of reverb on it? Anyone know what's going on, and how to fix it? Thanks again for any help.
-
Thanks John. It dawned on me, eventually, that was the issue. I've frozen the clips and can find more plugins now.

When I add FX plugins to a clip (from the FX bin), I only get the pre-installed Cakewalk plugins. Is there a way to put 3rd party plugins into the FX bin and then onto a MIDI clip? I have many FX plugins that I can use on a whole track, but they do not appear when right-clicking for use on a clip. I tried dragging them from the plugins folder, but I get the 'no entry' icon. They will go on the track but not directly onto a clip. Only the Cakewalk priority plugins are doing that. Please walk me through how to do that if it's possible. Thanks (again) for any help offered.

Yes, I did miss that, my apologies.

Try telling that to my music publisher - he's very keen for me to use felt piano on almost all of the 10 tracks of TV documentary cues that I'm currently writing. I've had to plead with him to let me try something different.
-
It's the Felt Piano from Spitfire Audio Originals (the paid version, not the one in LABS). No one had specifically asked me that question, and because of my neophyte status with DAWS, it didn't occur to me that they may all have differing outputs. Thanks for clarifying it.

Thanks again Glenn. I'm saving up for an AI with an ASIO driver. When the royalties come in from my first album of TV documentary cues, I'll upgrade. I am genuinely writing one for a library, but it's not finished, so I may have to struggle with the UMC22 for a bit longer.

Thank you. I'll give it watch, John.

@Glenn Stanton @David Baay Thank you for the help. I'm guessing it's something to do with the VI. I've tried other instruments and they seem loud enough and the Bus signal is strong. One last question: The Master Bus outputs to Out 1 + Out 2 (Behringer UMC22). There are no other options. I assume that's how it should be?
-
(from my OP) The instrument vol is full on and the instrument channel is at 0db. The Master Buss gain is at zero (12 O'Clock) and the level is around -36db. It's a virtual instrument (from my OP)...The instrument vol is full on and the instrument channel is at 0db (also from the OP).

Thank for your reply. The volume fader is at 4.0. The gain is at 0.0 and the output from the volume (the green bars) reaches about -36db. Again, as with Glen, apologies for the lack of techno speak in my reply,
-
Thank you for your quick reply, it's much appreciated. 1. I'm not sure what you mean (newbie here). I've looked at the Master Buss but can't see any HW output faders. The Master buss goes to my AI (Berhinger) which has headphones plugged in. 2. There are speakers attached to the AI, but they are not on. Again, not sure if this what you mean? 3. Windows volume is about 90%

The Master Buss gain is at zero (12 O'Clock) and the level is around -36db. The instrument vol is full on and the instrument channel is at 0db. I can only just hear the track with the buss gain at 6.00. Can anyone tell me what's happening and how to fix it please?

The same for me. The box about copying audio is definitely checked - and is always checked. The weird thing was that my projects wanted to open in the new (un-saveable) Sonar this morning, and I had to do a 'open with' (CbB) to get back to it. I'm wondering if it might have something to do with 'auto save' and/or the number of versions that can/should be saved. Any helpful suggestions welcome.
-
I've got projects that include midi and audio tracks. If I 'save as' and give them a different name, they are not opening with the audio files in place. Cakewalk says it can't find the audio and eventually (after a lot of 'skipping files', it opens with the audio clips flat (no audio). Very frustrating as I can only open auto-saved projects (with original name). Not ones with new name. Can you tell me what happening and how to 'save as' with a new name and in another directory without losing the audio. Thanks for any help.

Oh, yes I have! Thank you (again).

Rookie Issue: How can I open multiple track automation lanes? ATM: One open, one closes. Thanks for any help.

Add New Controller to PRV if CC is Not Listed in Value Menu
Stephen Power replied to Stephen Power's question in Q&A
@reginaldStjohn and @Promidi Thanks for the replies. I had assumed that the drop down was un-writable. ? -
Sorry for the convoluted title, my Cakewalk terminology is limited. I'm trying to add CC 15 to the PRV, but when I 'add new controller', the drop-down menu under 'value' does not include CC 15 (and quite a few others, too). Is there a way to add it other than using the menu? Photo attached and thanks for any help offered.

Solved - Suttering Playback - Problem was Windows Driver

Interestingly, due to their black skin, that absorbs the suns rays and two layers of thick fur, Polar Bears are more likely to suffer from over-heating than feeling the cold. -
Midi Events Not Showing on Clip after Recording CC's

That's very helpful - thank you!
