  1. Trapped in the loop. Yeah, that's a conundrum. The logical solution is to replicate the individual instruments, but that can be a lot of work. I found this free service that can magically extract instrumental parts, such as drums, guitar, vocals, etc. I tried it out of curiosity and ran one of my tunes through it. It amazingly works. The only drawback is you have to open an account, but they do offer a free use option. I don't know if it will help you separate those high strings into a individual track that you can fade in and out, but maybe it will. Just run the loop track through it and see what happens. If it works you will have better control of the loop. If you try it let me know how it works out. I may need todo the same thing down the road. Outside of all the above EQ is the only thing I can think of too. Good luck! https://studio.moises.ai/login/
  2. Well that was just damn good. Your vocals complement each other. Very polished production. Everything sits perfectly and its all clear as a bell. Did I say it was damn good? Yeah, I did say it was damn good. Well then the only thing I can add is it was really really really damn good!
  3. Yeah I get it. Trying to push some boundaries. That's cool. Got to have fun and cross a few yellow lines. That's what made the 70's so great and that's sort of where this took me. Good stuff, John. Follow your heart. I enjoyed your adventure!
  4. Good stuff! I think everyone has covered the critique side of things so I have nothing more to add except damn good song writing, Barry!
  5. I didn't hear the first track. Got to agree with your wife. I'm not getting a happy vibe either. Seems to have a matter of fact tone to it. Nevertheless, I like the vocal doubling-well done. Got a bit of Roy Orbison going on and something else that I just can't put my finger on. I'm not very good with genre either. Regardless, I listened to it twice and I like it.
  6. "GSP 2101 guitar processor". I have one of those. Great signal processor but noisy as hell! How do you deal with the S/N ratio? This beast is a hissing dragon, but some of those presets are very nice.
  7. Here are my thoughts. At the opening you have some synth keys playing in a high octave while you are singing. They are a bit of a distraction. I would loose them until the 1st verse of vocals end. Around 1:00 those high notes go away and it sounds so much better to me because I can fully focus on the vocals and the piano guitar accompaniment, along with the low end backing it all up. That part sounds awesome. The second verse of vocals sound s okay and the high keys lend to a slow build up, so I'd say they work better as things move along.
  8. Yeah. Not bad work. For certain songs vocal harmonies are a must and this one falls into such a category. You did pretty good, Andy. I didn't record anything from my early days, so all that stuff is floating through space. I watch Mike too. He's a very helpful fellow and nice guy. He's taught me a few things as well. I see he has a new studio and I bet he's very excited surrounded by all those new toys he acquired.
  9. First, Its a very nice tune-middle 8 or not. Instrumentally the guitar is the featured attraction, but it sounds like it could stand some width, as it sounded a bit boxed & down the middle. Regardless of the guitar being the featured attraction the vocals are always the headliner IMO, so I tend to question when other instruments invade their territory, and there seems to be a lot of stuff coming down the middle in a very narrow way. Nevertheless, in a way I like it. Perhaps because each has its own space in time and things are rarely overlapping at the same time. But the boxy-ness does give it a certain thinness that seems to trouble me. With all that subjective BS said, I do like this tune and enjoyed it.
  10. Sounds great! Everything!
  11. Very cool. The physics behind it all is mind boggling. The more I listen and consider the more it becomes apparent that its mostly all an illusion of sorts, or I should say its not at all what it appears to be. Beautiful and captivatingly awesome to see, but what are we really looking at? I am puzzled by the feeling of uncertain certainty, wherein the only thing that seems absolutely certain in all this glory is the self. Thanks for sharing your wonderful pictures put to music.
  12. Got some crazy characters described in the lyrics and the music befittingly takes that direction in my opinion. Certainly not the run of the mill tune. From an artistic perspective, yeah! This tune is expressive and certainly not in the box. Sonically, my ears didn't catch anything, Interesting tune.
  13. Good work. I'm not much of a jazz consumer, but what's not to like about the wonderful guitar work in this piece of music. Great skills!
  14. Very enjoyable composition. Sonically sensational. I like how this just smoothly weaves into many different emotions so effortlessly. Never a dull moment. Well done!

The stereo spread on the sax creates a nice space. Reverb time is perfect and ducked nicely. Very clear and clean mix. Well done in my opinion.
  16. Perhaps some animation to boost the low parts if you want to jack it up a bit without exceeding the limits elsewhere. Indeed, headphones are tricky, and with all the different systems out there I am puzzled how its possible to satisfy them all. I'm not that good at this game. If you feel it needs it then give it a shot. Personally, I don't think its terribly weak on my end.
  17. Thanks for listening to the second mix. As I said I wasn't sure about the kick up in volume. Some tunes shouldn't be pushed to their limits, and I felt this one qualified for that category. Speaking of categories, I always have trouble tagging a genre to some work and found your label rather befitting. I will give your violin Eq tips a try. I have done something similar with bass in the past and got positive feedback afterwards. No doubt there is something to it that is advantageous. Thanks for lending your ears and sharing some technical advice!
  18. Thanks! It is hard not to let 50 yrs of listening to other music bleed into ones compositions. Seems like everything has already been done. Glad you like the tune!
  19. I appreciate the positive feedback!
  20. Certainly a space right down the middle for vocals. Love those 2 two guitars playing tightly left and right. Agree with Larry. I don't hear and sonic issues. Rather impressive, in fact. Very nice!
