APD Deal: PRISM | Modern Pop Drums by AVA Music Group - 51% Off
dumbquestions replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
Have the modern pop library and love it. Cuts through nicely and the creator said in a yt vid i saw a while back they’re pre eq’d. They also have a few decent free packs with sound files (that you can make your own kontakt library file out of), if you have full kontakt and want to “test” the sounds first. Otherwise they can be loaded to any sampler -
Thank you, I really appreciate your perspective here—safe to say I’m strongly considering this library at this point (though I might sound reluctant at the same time), just need to plug in a good set of headphones to hear all the unique characteristics. I can think of a few applications for the jazzy-ness of this one in my productions. Over here trying to talk myself out of GAS, but this does indeed seem like a good one ??
-
I’m too lazy to grab headphones, but sounds pretty close to Noir, to me. NI Noir: PIB (first 20 seconds): Almost pulled the trigger on PIB until I heard how close they sounded. That said I don’t have professionally trained ears either, so i might be missing out here
-
Ah how did I not think of that one. thank you!
-
Truly dumb question… that I haven’t been able to figure out. I know what the concept of GAS means, but is it intended as an acronym? I see it everywhere, so I imagine it has a meaning of some kind since it’s always in capital letters? Like Gross Accumulation of Spending…? or Great Asset Stockpile.. ? Guilt-Associated Spending? Am I close?

Got v3 when it was $49 last year, i like to produce offline bc I’m not a fan of leaving my computer connected to the internet. I don’t like that it needs to do an authorization check every 90 days or else you can’t use what you paid for. But for what I paid I guess it’s w/e. I do like that plugin boutique has good sales on the expansions sometimes, and the GUI isn’t littered with animations that bog down CPU. I am an acoustic drummer first, & also use this in tandem with Roland TD-4, mapping took a minute but it’s solid for my needs, velocity articulations pick up well. Keep my libraries (core & jazz noir) on an external drive & everything runs smooth for me on 8gb RAM. Can’t compare with SD3 since I don’t have it, but I also use BFD in conjunction with Trigger 2 to beef up the sound and it makes for an even better experience in my case
-
Is this comparable to metaplugin by DDMF?
-
not sure how long you had a license but wonder if it happened around when BFD was acquired in 2020 by inmusic? ??♂️ Think their systems changed when that happened & maybe some data got lost in the shuffle, have you logged in at the inmusic site already to check for your license? That’s where mine show now at least

Waves back on at 3rd parties? https://everyplugin.com/plugins/shopby/manufacturer/waves.html?p=2

Haven’t updated waves central in over a year, anyone with unsolicited advice know if the smoke cleared with everything yet? Should i accept the eula? Trying to download clarity, and waves central of course needs to update first. The agreement aspect has me triggered now. Currently all my waves plugins still work but don’t want to do anything too hasty. Is the ability to individually download plugins still available in the new version? Or would a manual install be less risky here

I know this question is entirely subjective, but curious if anyone thinks spiff has $99 worth of an advantage over other transient shapers out there. For example I have a shapers/designers from softube, izotope, now wavesfactory.. determining if those are enough to get the job done. Of course defining “the job” would be another question in itself lol.. but would anyone say that Spiff does for transients what soothe does for vocals? (I think soothe is top tier personally) Again, subjective question so open to any kind of opinions out there.. (for what YOU do.. is it worth it?) It’s also possible i don’t understand the full potential of Spiff.

Side question, it seems like updating OS & software versions is really important to most people. So another question I have is, do those people’s (maybe even you as the reader) reasons for upgrading software or OS truly warrant losing their entire waves plugin library? Asking because I’m still on an old operating system, & don’t foresee myself updating anytime soon especially after this. I haven’t run into compatibility issues with other software yet, but I don’t want to lose my waves plugins personally, along with having full access to projects I’ve saved—I guess I would consider myself a heavy waves user. V12 work fine for me. I guess my confusion comes when i hear that people who frequently use waves plugins and value them dearly have spent thousands on their collection, but then willingly go and update their computer fully knowing the consequences of not being able to use them ever again now. To whoever wants to answer: what are your reasons for upgrading OS (and basically sacrificing) all your waves plugins to the WCA? I’m genuinely curious, I am a hobbyist so my perspective is quite limited especially to the needs of more pro studios out there, which is why i’m open to hearing what everyone else might have to say here. Maybe I should update and ditch waves for shinier updates to everything else on my computer? (Obv. my disagreement with all the waves madness should go without saying, more focused now on moving forward)

PSP Infinistrip $49 at ADSR Sounds - Expired early
dumbquestions replied to Craig N's topic in Deals
ADSR was kind enough to reply to me in saying this: ”Hey there, Thanks for writing in about that sale price and we're so sorry for the abrupt change in pricing. Unfortunately as we are a reseller of other companies products, we legally were obliged to honor PSP's request to end the sale price sooner than anticipated. We are so sorry for this mistake, we have many other products on sale at ADSR if there is anything else we can assist with please let us know. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding. Kindest regards Bishop ADSR” still bummed since we’re also caught in the middle of wavespocalypse. Was going to snag this as my waves replacement but maybe next time -

Neural Amp Modeler - FREE Amp Modeler Plugin (ver 0.7.0)

Dumb question, but I know nothing about github so the coding/text everywhere throws me off. To download do i just click either the single .exe or .dmg file, and do I need my own IR’s, or do they come included? -

Fortunately grabbed mine in time, but posted the code a bit late i suppose. That was quick

Makes sense in that case! I’ve admittedly been lurking this forum just for the deals & freebies the last few months and it’s become my favorite one over kvr, vi control, bpb, rekkerd, etc. so thank you all for the consistent contributions. i figured it was time to join the conversation lol, albeit a mac user I’m by no means here to hold it as a higher standard since windows has plenty of its own great advantages, cakewalk being one of them! I only have a macbook as it was the required hardware for school/work. All that said, Waves still just as frustrating no matter the hardware/OS ? Though i am grateful for these little youtube influencer freebies every now and then

Yes agreed, by all means follow this protocol for Windows users

(Mac/Logic guy here) FWIW I’m still running version 11 plugins bc of WUP, and waves central sometimes adds in extra versions (that I don’t need) of a plugin when I install a new one. i routinely clear out waveshell versions I don’t use from my components, vst & vst3 folders by deleting them straight from their respective folders (or drag them to the trash, whatever is easier). For example the V10 & v14 waveshells sometimes get installed and I’ll just delete those but leave the v11 shells. Works fine for me. I also keep my vst folders completely cleared out of all unintentionally installed plugins to save space since I don’t need any of those. No issues here running my v11’s doing it this way
