I had that issue, I'll be damned if I can remember how I solved it now - but it took me ages, much googling and a journey into the darkest depths of the settings. I'll see if I can retrace what I did.

Yes the capo works as well but that is not quite what I meant here. I quite like leaving the unfretted strings just open and play them as they are (doesn't work for all chord voicings but works on A and B chords played at the 5th and 7th position). It is easier to play - as you don't need to barré the chord - and contrasts nicely with the higher fretted strings (especially when used as a secondary rather than a main guitar track). It's a matter of taste I guess, whatever you do I am sure it will sound great. Andy

I like this - real folksy feel - reminds me of guy called Mike Silver (folk singer based in the UK that you've probably never heard of). Anyway, great vocal, nice guitar tone and the bass guitar sounds just great. I like the occasional surprises in the chord track and lyrical craft - tells a good story. Andy

Nice one Daryl, lovely composition. Enjoyed it - no crits. Andy

Motown meets The Four Seasons meets Grease - you nailed it! Andy

Only another 22 minutes to go then ? And at least some of those need to be in 9/8 time. Sounds like a great project. Prog is seriously difficult - it's just so 'complex' and multi-layered - that's one reason why I love listening to it. Oh and don't forget to include the 'Genesis chord' (Fmaj/B flat). Good luck with it - can't wait to have a listen Andy

Great groove and some nice lyrical craft - lead guitar up a hair maybe and the vox too? Vocal effect - all been covered above - didn't overly detract for me. Minor crits - great job Andy

Oh a bit of doo-wop - love it Amazing vocal - as for crits, how about some honky-tonk piano and maybe experiment with some more variation in the percussion. Looking forward to the final version A

Lastest CbB installed - Sustain Pedal Issue
AndyB01 replied to SonusProject's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Removing Ccleaner can resolve a whole host of issues in general. It may have had value once upon a time but not with later versions of Windows (10+). Causes more issues than it solves in my experience, but you may feel you still have a need for it. Glad you got it fixed ? Andy -
That's really very nice Rex - I was having a little noodle along to this - have you tried an additional finger-picked pattern but using open voicings on all the chords? What I mean is fret the open E chord then use the same fretting at the 7th and 5th frets, leaving the bass E, top E and top B as open strings? You can use a similar pattern for the F#m but don't barre it - just fret the C#, F# and A on the A, D and G strings - leave the rest open. Just a daft suggestion really but I though it sounded kinda cool - would've been even better played on a 12-string (shame I don't have one) ? Loving your work - as always Andy

I had some offer a few years back - five free cloudbounce mixes. All it seemed to do was make everything louder and also apply a fairly blunt normalisation effect that took away much of the original light and shade. I could achieve a similar result with Audacity. ? I wasn't particularly impressed and didn't pursue it. Might have been my inexperience and it might be more sophisticated these days. Can 300,000 people be wrong? ? YMMV Andy

Very nice Keith - yes vox can come up a tad for me - your higher register stuff is great (as a baritone with limited range, I'm really quite jealous) - loved the organ chops and I particularly liked the rallentando at the end (or is it a ritardando - I'm never quite sure what the difference is) ? Anyway - great job - BGVs might be an interesting addition. Andy
-
It most certainly was - an excellent addition. ? Andy

Agree with Mark - this is a strong vocal - you can feel the emotional connection; I felt there was something of a Paul Weller vibe at times (his solo stuff). Great job all round. Andy
-
Agree with Steve, a change up now and again on the guitar arpeggio would add some variation, but it's a minor crit. Lovely song as always and beautifully executed. Andy

Pedro and Juan were lost in the desert, after days without food, they came across a tree dripping with the finest bacon you've ever seen or smelt. 'Look' Juan says Pedro, 'is a bacon tree, we are saved' as he ran towards it desperate to feast on the rashers that hung there. But before he could take a bite, he was cut down in hail of bullets. With his dying breath, he rolled towards his friend and cried out 'Juan, stay there my friend, is no a bacon tree... ...is a ham bush ?

Ah, now that I can help with (I think) - it had me beat for ages. In pad view either use Ctrl-click to select multiple patterns or just lasso around all the patterns you want to play and - there you go. Also, if you lasso all the chords in your pattern you can drag and drop the lot into a right into MIDI track and a VST of your choice (if you prefer that to using routing). At least that's how I do it A

Jerry this is just superb, the light and shade, the articulations of the instruments - not to mention the quality of the composition. Stunningly good I have learned over many years to both appreciate and love classical music - I really enjoyed this. Ten minutes flew by - kept me engaged all the way through Andy
-
Really? Wow - I'm looking forward to hearing your stuff when the inspiration kicks in. This not my genre at all but I thought it was terrific and sounded great - good vid too - all round great work. Andy
-
John - take a bow fella - this is very good. I have shades of Ant Phillips, (really) early Genesis and Beatles in my head - the harmonies were stand out. Great work Andy
-
@Billy86 Not sure about that - I haven't seen any internal reverb controls within the VST - so I doubt you can tweak them (but I could be wrong). TBH I rarely, if ever, use the internal sounds for a final mix, I only use them for generating ideas and then I route through a more favoured VST. Andy

Did you make more music when you retired?
AndyB01 replied to smallstonefan's topic in The Coffee House
Well she doesn't have a musical bone in her body, so me spending more time with my guitar/ keyboard or my hard-earned pension on software and more 'musical toys' probably don't feature. It's not all bad, she has other qualities ? Andy -

I am hoping to, and I'm probably a year or so away from the R word. However, I think Mrs AndyB01 has other plans... ? -
Making music is expensive, my RME Fireface II died...

Rex, sorry to hear about your gear issues, can you claim against the credit card Co as a faulty good or is the unit too old for that so you're stuck with a RTB repair? For some perspective, from listening to your stuff, I reckon you could record your vocals on a 1970s portable cassette recorder and they'd still sound pretty good to the rest of us .? I hope you get it sorted soon. Has to be worth a complaint to RME and ask for some compensation. Top tip: blow some smoke, tell them you're a huge fan of their gear, long time user etc and then how let down and disappointed you are by this issue and the impact on you. Don't write to the Complaints or Customer Service Team, do some digging and find the name of the Finance Director, HR or Operations Director - even the C/Ex or Chair. These C-Suite folks do not appreciate getting letters from the 'great unwashed' and you're less likely to get fobbed off. Send a copy to all of them! Oh and no emails - snail mail only - hand-written has even more impact! I've used this tactic before and it definitely works! Good luck getting it fixed Andy -
John I really wouldn't sweat this if I were you - I have a desktop and laptop with two SSDs in each - the oldest must be getting on for five years and they've all been rock solid. As long as you're buying decent quality, you should be OK. All disks can fail, just that SSDs tend to give no warning and you're not having too much joy with traditional data recovery tools if they do. This article might be of interest. Just adopt a solid and reliable online and offline back up routine, then kick back and focus on the music. ?? ? Andy
