  1. Thanks - I hadn't twigged that it was the LE version and was kind of stunned by the price!
  2. On EXmix, which is down from $149 to $30. But I'd much rather have a sweet deal on the new SDXs instead!
  3. The Synchron player is infinitely more user-friendly than Kontakt, and the Synchron piano player is absolutely fantastic. The older player for the VI libraries...well, that drives me crazy, but the instruments still sound good. If they ever port the jazz drums to the Synchron player, it'll be a day-of-release buy.
  4. Always nice to have your impression validated by someone else! I'm strictly a hobbyist with a fondness for jazz standards ? With that said, my hunch is that most people who use the horn libraries from this dev don't feel the need to replace them. You'd have to know really good horn players (and be able to record them well!) to improve on what can be achieved with the smartdelay function. The bari sax and tuba seem very niche - I know there has been some demand for a wider range of instruments, but I hope they're not spreading themselves too thin because they're doing things that no other dev is managing to pull off.
  5. I have the 600s and love them. I bought a pair of 599s on BF a couple of years ago as replacements for when the 600s die, but they're nowhere near as good in terms of the sound being natural.
  6. I felt a little bad saying it because what SAS have been able to do with their smart delay feature is absolutely amazing. But if you watch the demo videos for the tuba and the archtop back to back, it's...well, unflattering to the tuba!
  7. The demo for the archtop has just gone up - and it sounds amazing! https://www.straightaheadsamples.com/jb145 Honestly, I think the tuba sounds dreadful, but then there aren't many places I can imagine needing one. Sadly, this developer isn't known for great BF sales, but I have my eye on the flugelhorn...
  8. Is the Musio version of Keyboard in Blue different from the old Kontakt library? I have the old version and think it's great - def not a one trick pony - so am wondering if the Musio offering is missing some of those features.
  9. Any thoughts on Harrison? I know it's still not fully clear whether our existing Cakewalk installs will work indefinitely, or what it might cost to keep using the new, supported version, and I'm looking ahead. $80 for a perpetual DAW license is quite appealing - but at this price, Harrison, Reaper, and Presonus' Studio 1 artist are all in that $80-100 range. I like the look of Harrison's workflow, but recall that it was less stable for some users who run virtual instruments (which I do).
  10. I'm new to this developer, but got pointed to them because I couldn't find the basic sweeps and swirls I was after for some jazz ballad stuff (think Tony Bennett's The way you look tonight). Along the way I got StraightAheadSamples brushes, FluffyAudio brushes, VSL jazz drums, Soniccouture's Moonkits, and Toontrack Decades (which also required upgrading to SD3). I really wish I'd found Borsta first! Seriously, this may be the best $30 you can spend on a library. They even do very functional demos! Huzzah for Klevgrand!
  11. Thank you for talking me down! I listened to the audio demos earlier and struggled to imagine a time I'd want to use it instead of the EZDrummer/Superior Drummer sounds. I got Moonkits because I wanted brushes, but really missed the large midi library and user friendliness.
  12. I don't think I've seen that crossgrade so low before. I'm trying to decide whether to go in the other direction (moonkits to sun). I like the sound, but I've just bought SD3 and a pair of expansions...so do I need this?
  13. Good to see the Tina Guo and Taylor Davis libraries back to $49!
  14. I only found Cory's videos through this forum. I think I would have liked him. I hope he's at peace.

    BFD3 $49

I don't think so. BFD3 has been offered for $49 pretty regularly for the last 2-3 years. I also hope not, because if they make the GUI one I can get my head around in BFD4, I might regret upgrading to SD3!
  16. Seems like Komplete 15/16 is getting more appealing ?
  17. Blimey, there's a lot there for $300! The new Sound City plugin looks like it'll be an Ocean Way Studios on steroids!
  18. The IK is top notch, PC - don't pass it up. It's also worth keeping an eye on UAD's sales - I picked up their waterfall organ for $24, and it's fantastic. I can't say whether it's 'better' than the IK, but I find the presets a better starting point.
  19. Musical Sampling do really good stuff. I have several instruments from their Atelier series (trumpet, sax, and clarinet) and they're all excellent. Great sound, and very intuitive - just noodle away on a keyboard and the scripting does the rest. Especially at the intro prices, they're no brainers if they cover ground you don't have covered elsewhere.
  20. Thanks Marc! I bought a few of those tone junkie packs but couldn't load them in the free CS version as I had already used my 20 spots!
