My old MOTU 24i/o blew up. So I upgraded to an Apollo x6 since my i/o needs have drastically changed. But I still need to run a 2.1 monitor setup - which is proving a challenge for me with the Apollo. Anyone doing this with an Apollo x unit that could help me get my head around it? I have a Dangerous Monitor ST that I've used for years. I really don't need it in my new setup. I mean...I could still use it to solve this problem. But I'd rather sell it to help fund the cost of this entire recording system replacement. Setup info: I have Focal Twin 6 be mains and a KRK 10s powered sub. The KRK does have the feature where I could run the main signal to it, through its internal crossover, and back out to the mains. But the path it takes through the KRK destroys the signal going to the Focal. It's pretty bad. So that's not an option. If I can tie L/R/Sub to the volume knob on the x6, without anything between the x6 and the speakers, I'll be golden. I just haven't figured it out yet. I THINK it involves a 2.1 surround bus, but I've never setup like that before. Thanks for your thoughts.

@scook I used your VST inventory tool last night. Thanks for that, sir. @msmcleod Thanks for letting me know about it. Tonight we put push the start button on the new system at some point...

I like the Sonitus reverb a lot too, but I find it buggy on long reverbs. And I'm fond of Breverb as well. I'm just saying...there was one thing in particular about that old reverb that I miss. That ONE sound it made. It wasn't about the visual.

Yeah...I honestly would probably rather start with a fresh OS install when it comes to all new hardware. And I won't DIE if I can't bring all my presets and settings with me. I might cry a little. ?

Thanks, Mark. As you said, some of those are obvious and easy to locate. But some of the others you mention were definitely info I'm searching for.

I've been using Cakewalk since it came on floppy and still said Twelve Tone Systems on the label. I had to drive from Kansas to Oklahoma to even find a music store that sold it and had it running on a machine. Some time, many years later, they released Soundstage reverb. I sure do miss that one. It had a very specific trick that I used on vocals. I've never really been able to recreate that specific thing. I get close. But I don't think I ever get it the same. For those that don't know this one, you could change the size and shape of the room and place a performer in certain places with room mics in certain places....all adjustable with a GUI where you could just grab the performer or mic with your mouse pointer and very quickly drag them around - resulting in reverb settings changes that would roughly mimic what would happen in that room that you set up. Was really cool. My recollection is that this was just about the time that convolution reverbs were getting popular. https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/cakewalk-fx3-soundstage Do you miss old plugins you can no longer use? Which ones?

Cloning a C drive and OS will work moving to a totally different machine, different chipset, processor and moving from SATA SSD to NVME SSD, etc?

My 16 year old MOTU 24i/o is failing. And the computer I'm using it on is as old. It's an old i7 950 running Windows 10 Pro. She's a fighter...still killing it for the most part. But I don't dare update the interface without finally updating the computer as well. I'll be going with the i7 12700K on an Asus Z690 MB. My question is this: How do I move all my project templates, track templates, effects presets, drum maps....ALL THAT to the new machine? I've had issues with pulling this off in the past. Basically, I usually start over. But I have some templates and presets I REALLY don't want to lose this time. Thanks.

Here's that Alesis Nitro drum map that I created for Steven Slate Drums SSD5. Hope this helps. ALESIS NITRO - SLATE SSD5 - HOOK.map

I'd be happy to do that. I haven't spent much time on this forum and I didn't notice that I could upload here directly.

Yep...thanks. This is what was causing my issue. Excellent help!

Not sure. Thanks...I'm digging into this.

I'm automating from the Console view. Using the pan knob and fader. There are automation lanes that show up in the clips view. Am I missing something? thanks
-
I believe am....the R is lit up.
-
After automating a track, is there an option to make faders and knobs move on playback when the track isn't Write enabled? I find it confusing to see a fader at 0 when the output is automated to move to -12 and then to -15. I HEAR the automation, but I'd sure like to see the faders where they should be according to the automation lane. If this isn't possible, maybe I'm missing the problem this would cause. Perhaps someone can enlighten me. Thanks.
-
Well...that makes sense. I didn't look at the lanes because I had no idea I had multiple lanes in that track...? Thank you!

I can't figure out what this tool is supposed to do. It looks like it only comes up on stereo files - and only on the edge of the waveform. If I move up to the middle of the waveform, it turns back into the normal looking split tool.

Hi Andrea. Yes...I finally figured it out and it works great. I'm at the day job right now, but I'll try to remember to share it with you when I get home. I sent you a PM with my email

Ok, Mark. I'm hearing it now on playback - which doesn't actually move the midi note. It just plays the correct note to scale. I think that's what was throwing me off. If I apply the affect, I'm seeing the note move graphically as well. Thanks for the help.
-
Does Cakewalk have a feature whereby you can force any errant notes to "quantize" to the nearest note in a particular scale? Not in real time, but after a performance - basically like quantizing , but for snapping to the a set key - say A#. I was reading that this is called "Scale Quantize" in Logic. And I swear I was able to do it, many moons ago, in long-gone versions of Cakewalk or Sonar.

Can't get drum map to save with track template
HOOK replied to HOOK's topic in Track & Project Templates
It looks like saving as a Project Template will save the drum map settings. So I'll just do that. But I'm still curious to know if this can be done with a track template. -
I've been working on a midi track template for an Alesis Nitro kit with SSD5. I've figured out the map, and I've got it all set up. But when I "save track as template" and then open a new project and "insert track from template", the drum map still has to be selected. Is there a way to set this up so that when I insert the tracks from template in a new project, the drum map is already applied?

Anyone got this done and willing to share?
