  1. guitars used on this song: from left to right: 1984 Carvin DC-200K, 2008 USACG custom build, 1977 Ibanez Artist 2618.
  2. hi kurt! i DO like the iridium a lot. i have not recorded a guitar track with a mic and cab since i got this thing. well, that's not entirely true, but the one time i spent mic recording, i tossed the tracks afterwards, to use newer Iridium tracks. it doesn't have bass amp sims.... only the fender deluxe, the vox ac 30, and the marshall super lead 100 watt plexi. but, a lot of prog rockers that i dig, that play bass, used marshall stacks to find their bass tones... i'm using a closed back 4x10 bass cabinet impulse that i bought from Celestion. here: https://www.celestionplus.com/product/pulse10-4x10-bass-closed/ now, some of my bass tracks are the marshall and 4x10 bass cab only... but i also blend a lot of bass tracks by splitting the signal into 2 mono signals, one to the iridium, one to a Sansamp Bass DI, and i hpf and lpf to get the lowest lows clean from the sansamp, and the body of the sound, drive and grit, from the Iridium. works like a charm.
  3. howdy emerald, thanks so much! hey andy! glad you dig this groove .... i probably spent more time deciding on the right meter for this, than i did recording it!! i must have changed it a dozen times...
  4. hi Lynn! thanks for listening, you should check out the whole album if you really like this one.... video? aren't there enough lame @ss videos on the web, without MY mug being out there too?!! LOL maybe, if i EVER have time for that. it's hard enough writing music, and then trying to find time to record it? OOF!
  5. hey kurt, thanks for the questions. drums: i pull midi data from a huge library of riffs, and then i edit that loop (and each loop) to do exactly what i want it to do. you're best bet to learn superior drummer, is to go here and watch the vids: https://www.toontrack.com/product/superior-drummer-3/

  9. hi kurt! yea, dense arrangement, but open at the same time... this one was REALLY fun to arrange... it took about 4 variations of this song to land on this arrangement. the bass was the EASY part!! heheh, that was a single take.
  10. cool thing about this tune, all the guitar parts and bass parts were done using a strymon Iridium. no amps. drums are superior drummer 3.
  11. Popping tight: I played rock and pop and funk tunes in cover bands for several years, and developed a love for certain style of funk. This is my inner Stevie and Prince coming out. heheh from the new album, you can get it here: Bandcamp: https://batsbrew.bandcamp.com/
