  1. "Our first award goes to the vampires for most blood drained in a single evening." ?
  2. heheh, you say 'many', but only 3 people have listened! ? oh well, i know it's a fun song, and i think many others here would totally dig it! 7/8 is fun to play in, because there are so many options for syncopation, you can go with the straight time thru the whole thing, or live off of the 3/4 sections, i think zep had a song that was 7/8...
  3. Alright wookiee! So glad you got to hear this one, The meter Actually feels quite natural to me You get to straight dance and waltz in one measure!
  4. hey john! so glad you dig this one... yea, soundcloud has that element to it... makes it not so attractive. no, haven't heard KALEIDOSCOPE before...tho i have heard a lot of david lindley.. thanks for the heads up!
  5. https://soundcloud.com/bats-brew/the-day-they-robbed-the-bank-of-england The Day They Robbed the Bank of England: this is a proper cops and robbers story put to a progressive rock structure written in 7/8 time, to create edgy tension. The song title, is from a late 50’s movie about, you guessed it, the robbing of the bank of England. The fact that the siren blows by them at the end, implies that either they got away, or the spectator of the whole thing is quietly watching from a dark alley. done entirely with a Strymon Iridium for all guitar and bass parts. this is from the new Bats Brew album "Elemental" available here: Bandcamp: https://batsbrew.bandcamp.com/
  6. hey david! yes, different, this one... but it has a clear path, to a vibe or feeling... it was a nice change. i have more of these...
  7. hello noynekker! thanks man, that's real nice of you to say... no 12 string, just a pair of acoustic 6 string tracks, playing some different voicings, to make it sorta sound like a 12 string. soft fingers, i hear you... i have 'tenderfoot' all the time now!! heheh, don't get to play enough. here's a pic of the guitar trio used on this tune:
  8. howdy wookiee, man, that's so nice of you to say, i appreciate those kudos, i really do. thanks.
  9. hey jack! it's nice to go day trippin'!! heheh, i appreciate the comments
  10. does anybody else hear what they think is an 'accordian' on this mix? asking for a friend. heheh
  11. i think the slide made this tune... even tho it was written on piano!
  12. thanks ruralrocker! appreciate the comment
  13. hey rocker! it SHOULD sound authentic! it is!! heheh... i don't do anything midi, except the drum programming on the rock tunes. this is all played in front of a mic. the electrics, like i said before, are all capture direct from a Strymon Iridium pedal. bass too.
  14. alright lynn! this softer acoustic based stuff, is a great chill mode for me... i didn't really think the slide parts thru, i had the acoustics done, and didn't know what to do with them.. then the melody for the slide parts just popped in my head, that was one session to do all the slide parts, so it WAS kinda unpredictable, even for me!! thanks man
  15. hi andrew! thanks so much for commenting... glad you dig it, you're tapping into the vibe i was trying to put out there... and big stereo speakers, just like the good ole days when folks had the nice stereos setup in every household.. THAT is the way to listen to this!
  16. thanks so much andrew, i'm so glad folks are moving to this one. it's made for it. hey lynn, glad you dig the sounds, it was quite the experiment, and i'm quite happy with it. appreciate the comments
  17. https://soundcloud.com/bats-brew/apollo-18 a really nice, mellow, bittersweet song that features slide guitar. Apollo 18: the Gemini, and then the Apollo missions that ran thru the 60’s to the 70’s, was an amazing time in my mind; Apollo 18 would have traveled to the Copernicus Crater, but it never happened, and the Apollo program was retired. A bittersweet melody runs thru this song, as the ending of the Apollo program was just as bittersweet. from the new album "Elemental", available here: Bandcamp: https://batsbrew.bandcamp.com/ Apple Music: https://music.apple.com/us/album/elemental/1551745206 Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08VJQJM4P/ref=dm_ws_sp_ps_dp
  18. hi marc! steely dan, i love a lot of steely dan songs, almost all of Aja... so, yea, maybe. thanks for listening!
  19. thanks so much daryl... man, dropping thomas dolby.. i always thought that album of his was better than the critics allowed...
  20. thanks so much barry! this tune, had a completely different drum groove to it, when i started.. it's interesting how songs change, once you get into it... it was the same thing when i was working full time with a band, you throw ideas around and see what sticks. then, you come up with a general consensus. me, i'm my own band now and coming up with a general consensus can be... problematic. LOL
  21. i thought of it more as setting myself up for future tracking... downsizing my rig... it's very cheap, compared to, say, the UA Ox, or buying a fender deluxe, and a vox ac30, AND a marshall super lead. heheh
  22. yep, that's like the one that john scofield used to use, i think... all of the ones of that vintage are just great guitars.
  23. hey kurt... my 1st ibanez artist, was a 1979 2619 model, which i bought in 1979, and had until i bought that Carvin up above, in 1984. i had to sell the artist to afford the custom build of the carvin, and always regretted it... i mean, i loved the carvin, still do, will never sell it...but i really liked that Artist too! One day, I walked into GC to look at Les Paul Double cuts. They didn't have any. What they DID have, was a 1977 Ibanez Artist 2618, priced out at $899 (which is about $400 cheaper than anything I’ve found on EBay).... I talked them down to $599, with original case. Really good condition, one small chip out of the finish on the back, and the pickup selector knob is broken off, but the selector still works fine. i've got to fix that as soon as covid goes away. original frets, very little wear. No checking in the finish, it's beautifully worn, gold finish is coming off the hardware at a very normal rate, for a 44 year old guitar!
