"Michaels House", a tune off the new bats brew album
Douglas Kirby replied to bats brew's topic in Songs
As usual with your stuff - this song really rocks. You played the bass on this right - it sounds great. Your guitar playing is always excellent. -
Nice job Larry - that was a fun listen with my morning coffee. The harpsichord and cello sounded quite authentic to my ears.
-
It's a well written song and I like the message in the lyrics. Again, you vocal makes me think of Dan Fogelberg - nothing wrong with that. You know, the brass sounded pretty good - what did you use there? Made me think a bit of Chicago.
-
That's a well constructed song - a very pleasant listen. Your vocal made me think of Christopher Cross a bit. I liked the mix - it sounds good to my ears. Also, the guitar playing was excellent - great tones.
-
I also thought of George Harrison and Ravi Shankar - I really enjoyed the listen. You have a talent for composing - very nice.
-
Yes, I enjoyed this composition - nicely done. Makes me want to buy a clarinet?
-
David Sprouse - Thank you very much for listening. bjornpdx - I'm glad you liked the song - thank you very much for your ears - I'll give those instruments another listen that you pointed out sound like they are only on one channel. Paul Bush - Thanks for giving my song a listen. DeeringAmps - I'll check out those guitar fills - I'm curious as to what you and Bjorn are hearing there - cheers.
-
This has a pleasant country vibe - I really liked the banjo. For some reason now, I feel like listening to some Merle Haggard. Good start to the day with my morning coffee.
-
I really enjoyed listening to this - there's a lot going on in the mix. I've never used BFD drums - I'll have to check it out. Excellent mix - quite a bit of depth and well-balanced. Thanks for posting.

How about with a chic through the forest?

DeeringAmps - Your comments are very kind - thank you very much for listening. Comparing me to the Kinks sounds cool to me - cheers. freddy j - thanks for listening to my tunes and I appreciate your comments. amiller - Thank you very much for listening.

I enjoyed that Gary - very nice - well done.
-
To me - this is a composition that leads to contemplation in the first half - interesting. The sort of thing where you ask yourself - where am I going, what am I doing - that sort of thing. The second half of the song is more of a party - bartender - I'll have another. I thought the mix was top-notch - I don't think the piano is too soft going out - I think it's just right. Nice job emerald?
-
You know Bjorn - I thought this was impressive - a nice job indeed. You're quite a better composer than you think you are. Excellent mix and I really enjoyed the listen - cheers.
-
If I was still in DC, I would expect to hear this at the 18th St Lounge - very cool. The lead vocal is impressive.
-
I enjoyed this Larry - a very pleasant composition. For some reason, I thought it would be cool to listen to this while walking through a forest - I guess the whistling is a factor there?
-
I enjoyed this a lot Freddy - I would pay to see you play at a bar - you're the king of the blues? As you said, this song is a bit different from your usual music - but it's still the blues to my ears. I don't think I ever saw this movie - I'll have to give it a chance some time.

The acoustic guitar sounds great, (I'm listening through AKG headphones). I thought it was a very pleasant mix - perhaps to my ears I would have preferred the lead guitar to be a bit softer - just my opinion.
-
DeeringAmps - Thanks for listening. You were right about that guitar part on the bridge - I pulled back on it a bit, and the mix sounds better as a result - thank you very much. emeraldsoul - Thank you very much for your comment and critiques - just to let you know - I'm always mixing the songs - they are never finished? Bajan Blue - Thank you very much for listening. amiller - Thanks for your ears. bjornpdx - Thanks for listening - I'll try to keep then coming - cheers.
-
Very pleasant - nicely done. I wish I could play like that - maybe someday?
-
I enjoyed the listen - I think it's a well constructed pop/rock song. Also - you do a good vocal - pleasant to listen to.
-
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned - this song represents that well - nice job. The mix sounded good to me - everything was clear in the mix.

I didn't start playing a nylon classical guitar until a couple of years ago - and I enjoy it very much - a very different world from the steel string. I wish I could play as well as you compose - nice job - cheers.
