  1. We use YouTube music and the sad truth is as someone who has music on all the digital deliveries I think they pay the least. Our family has some deal that is $16 per month for 5 of us. So there’s the root of the problem. That’s like $3 a month to listen to 100’s of songs and watch YouTube with out the adds. Nobody is getting much money from me, which is fine as a consumer but not as an artist
  2. That number might be the clue. Myself I just submit to support as they get back pretty quickly during business hours This is my bookmark for the form you fill in. Send the screenshot as an attachment at the bottom. https://help.cakewalk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
  3. I have a folder named “Tascam “ from transferring my Tascam DR40 recordings. I get a song idea and I grab the recorder and a guitar and capture the idea before it’s long gone. On a rainy day 3 months later I’ll listen to these and I always find at least one good idea that actually becomes a song. I always finish my songs right away. (Then I redo them for 30 years. !) The DR 40 is a great tool for song writing. It’s certainly nothing new. Just put up your hand if your first recording device was a Sony portable Cassette with built in mikes. But the problem back then was what you got was the worst possible recording quality and no way to take it further. My 14 year old grandson has started playing guitar and he has written out lyrics to about 20 songs already. He asked for help because he has no clue what chords will work with the lyrics and he totally can’t sing at all yet. I got him to try and sing a melody to the words and see if I could find at least a starting key. Gave up and faked it and told him he’s singing in C. His songs are cowboy songs and this one’s about a truck that is costing the dude money. I played a few country style progressions and before you know it I had chords and a good arrangement for the song. So a collaboration effort. He’s totally hooked now. I was going to put it in Cakewalk but I didn’t think he’s ready for that yet. So I got this idea and I bought Band in aBox and I’m just downloading the content right now. I’m hoping it will be an easy tool for him until he learns more about music and get better at the guitar and singing. His lyrics are actually really good. So now let’s see how hard it is to learn Band in a box l. I see it’s now using samples instead of the terrible GM synth it used last time I tried it.

    No audio in playback

Yes you can change devices with a project open. Issues like the OP is having are a good example of what can go wrong if you're not savvy to audio set up in preferences and driver modes. And Blue tooth doesn't always support both WASAPI modes. We will assume the OP doesn't have an Audio interface and is using a WASAPI shared mode with Cakewalk, this is why I posted the Video so if they watch that and do a proper Windows audio set up it rules out a lot of possible issues. I have a Bluetooth speaker I use for proofing mixes which I do by exporting the song first and using Media player. I also have Bluetooth headphones for this as well. I could play directly from Cakewalk by simply changing to WASAPI shared mode as you see in the screen shot. The critical difference is what Cakewalk decides is the timing master. If it gets confused then you won't have sound. In the Bluetooth set up below I had no problem with playback but I was unable to get a recording signal from the Zoom interface. With Bluetooth speakers I get 80 MS more latency. This makes it impossible to do any editing. It's only use is to play projects for comparing a mix in something different than using proper monitors. That 80 ms does not include the transmission latency of Bluetooth. This is from the Bluetooth Wiki info Bluetooth codecs have higher latency than wired headphones, ranging from 34-200 milliseconds, which may be experienced as a noticeable lag between the action occurring and the corresponding audio. In contrast, wired headphones experience an average latency between 5-10 milliseconds.
  5. Delete answer as OP has exceeded my time limit for response.

    No audio in playback

This is not a bug. Bluetooth is not exactly a compatible audio device for Cakewalk. It has 30- 50 ms of latency so is not usable. Follow the instructions in this video and you won’t have any issues.
  7. Don’t forget there’s snap settings in the PVR as well as the ones in Track view. Snap is the only thing I can think of that would do that.
  8. I don’t know an accurate answer but I’m pretty sure I’ve read statements from @Noel Borthwick that Cakewalk takes full advantage of W11 and updating to W11 pro is what the developers recommend. It’s only a few dollars more than W10.
  9. Not just here but the Facebook groups have even double and nobody ever gets a correct answer which is simply “Log on to Bandlab” You often see Re install Cakewalk as an answer. I keep my mouth shut on Facebook. I just look and see what the punters are up to these days as it’s very entertaining stuff.
  10. If you want larger use the Arranger track. You can have more than one Arranger track. I often put chords in it. You can use it for lyrics as well. You just have to set the zoom just so. Cakewalk Next has a lyrics track that looks like the Arranger. Then it can use a drag and drop list using a dedicated interface for text files. Pretty cool. I’m hoping that it is also part of the new Sonar.
  11. If you go to Plug-ins4free and type Bagpipes there is a free one there by Quilicom that is pretty cool. It’s really weird to use so read the instructions https://plugins4free.com/plugin/3296/
  12. It’s always a plug in. But a CPU spike could be a process running Have you run the Resplendent latency monitor?
  13. Yes I just did my own build and used two 1 TB m2 drives one is OS and other is working drive. I pulled my 2 SSD drives from old machine and put those in so everything important was now in new machine. Those are then back up drives. Definitely W11 pro. I bought it from PC world for $80. It was only $15 more than Home. RAM is cheap. Go for 64GB.
  14. There’s a million scenarios. With explaining you projects routing I can only guess as to what you are not doing correctly. My best guess is the drum track is routed different than the other tracks. Check all your outputs
  15. Cakewalk staff got right back to me regarding the Dump file. That's impressive. So I opened a basic project and played around with Sound paint for at least 30 minutes changing patches etc. No crashes so far. There's only one that is closest to dry and you have to even edit that to get rid of the stupid amount of reverb they put on it. Boy is it ever sensitive to velocity. A little too much and it sounds terrible. If it crashes again I might try using the VST-2 version. Just downloading the rest of the free stuff. Pretty cool ambient and percussion weirdness. Good thing I a of lot of storage space.
  16. I don’t use samples in the sense of sticking little bits of audio together in a track. That sounds like too much work. I leave the samples to be included with an instrument that I can play. Soundpaint crashed Cakewalk twice. I submitted a dump file. The free piano is pretty terrible. I had to return to using the Marimba on Xpand.2. It’s not a steel drum but it works. I’ll mix it with the TTS-1 steel drum. I’m hoping Sonar will have the sample player just like Next. Life will be easier. Kontakt was a bit of a failure and now it looks like Soundpaint is doomed to my excluded list too. You crash Cakewalk and you are a dead duck.
  17. Ya priced just right for me. It’s odd how many vendors are always having 75% off sales. Why not just keep the price reasonable in the first place. I already grabbed the piano:)
  18. @Canopus Thanks for pointing me at Soundpaint. I installed it and bought the Steel Drums for $15. My kind of budget . Defiantly a step up from TTS-1. The biggest difference is how it responds to velocity which of course the TTS-1 doesn’t. So I had to rework the track paying close attention to velocity. Sounds excellent. Will be exploring the library for more goodies. Do they go on sale?
  19. There’s no reason it would not work with Cakewalk but the deal breaker is it is only 16 bit. Both the M Audio interfaces at that price point are. See the video I just posted above for a complete overview of all the 2x 2 interfaces.
  20. I just posted the video I made about 2x2 audio interfaces see above.
  21. I just built a new machine so I had to purchase the OS. W11 pro was only $12 more than W11 home if you buy it from PC World I think I paid $80 Can. It takes a little bit of getting used to the small differences but after a week that was sorted out. Laptops are generally a bad idea for a main DAW. But the best fix I know of is to pull the OME drive, put it on a shelf. Install a ( probably better) drive and install a clean copy of windows pro. Might as well be 11 because 10 is the same price. Most of the issues people have are not Windows but the bloatware that is often impossible to totally get rid of. This is why we always build our own. You can’t build a laptop from scratch but if you buy one with the best processor you can afford and toss the rest out and upgrade the usually crappy OME components you can save a lot of money and have a top notch laptop.
  22. There’s always the Steinberg Halion https://steinberg.help/halion/v7/en/halion/topics/managing_sounds/general_midi_files_working_with_t.html#:~:text=The Slot Rack has 64,programs at the same time.&text=You can use the MediaBay,and preview different file types.&text=General MIDI Files-,HALion can play back files,General MIDI (GM) format. It works just like the TTS1 if you open a GM midi file in Cubase . There’s even a free version that I think will work once you find the sounds. It’s not exactly clear. I have it because I have Cubase 7. I’ve never bothered to see if I can open it in Cakewalk. I think it’s stored in Cubase folder system somewhere. Definitely a great sounding synth.
  23. Yes clip gain is none destructive so first choice. Second choice is highlight the clip and use Process/ Gain and subtract the amount needed. I do all my levelling in Melodyne now.
  24. What I often do is open plug in manager and Exclude the plug ins I don’t use. Then one day down the road I change my mind it just takes a few seconds to bring it back to life. This might happen when you open an older project you forgot you used it in. Unless an instrument uses a sample library, plugs ins generally don’t take up much storage space. Ones with the libraries I uninstall them in windows settings Apps. That way it removes the library and the .dll from all the folders. Some plug ins might be in more than one folder.
