Thanx Reid! Not hardly a god...nothing close... but I put in a LOT of work....way more than most realize... I start at 5 am...and go all day long trying to keep track of all of these sales, and trying not to double post, and trying to make sure that I've put the requested "disclaimers" i.e... Full Kontakt, iLok, eLicenser...etc...in the posts...it's takes a lot of time and effort...despite what some people think!46 points

Unrelated bugs or feature requests should be posted in other threads or the feature request channel. Thanks again for your participation! The Bakers 2021.04 Highlights New features Note: Screenshots may not reflect actual UI in latest build. Integrated BandLab library access The 2021.04 release introduces a major update to BandLab integration, with support for downloads and uploads and tracking revision state directly from within Cakewalk. Subsequent uploads to BandLab of a modified project are automatically tracked as revisions to the parent project. There is also support for importing clips and MIDI tracks from BandLab projects. The brand new Library view (File > Browse BandLab Projects) now allows you to navigate your projects on BandLab and set revision and song properties directly from within Cakewalk . Here are some of the benefits of BandLab library integration in Cakewalk: Easily publish Cakewalk projects, stems and mixes to your BandLab library Quickly open BandLab projects in Cakewalk Collaborate easily by sharing audio tracks via the BandLab cloud Bring projects started on mobile into Cakewalk for VST effects and advanced editing Fly in vocals or other parts for a Cakewalk project from iOS and Android Curate your music as playlists that you can play anywhere from your mobile device To publish the current project to your BandLab library, select File > Publish to BandLab or choose Export | BandLab from the export module on the toolbar. When publishing to BandLab, a project may be uploaded as a new project, or as a revision to an existing BandLab project. BandLab projects always point to the latest revision. Use the Upload Settings to pick the combination of project assets you wish to upload to the BandLab project. Tracks and buses are mixed down prior to uploading to BandLab. To open a BandLab project, select File > Browse BandLab Projects. You may open as a new Cakewalk project or import into an existing project. Note that revisions are only tracked if you open as a new Cakewalk project. Use the Download Settings options to select the types of assets from the BandLab project you wish to download and open. Note: The Help button in the Browse BandLab Projects dialog box will not launch the correct help topic until Cakewalk 2021.04 has been officially released. IMPORTANT: Cakewalk is no longer compatible with projects downloaded via BandLab Assistant. As of version 2021.04, BandLab Assistant should no longer be used for project integration. If you have multiple BandLab user accounts and would like to sign in as a different user, select Help > Sign Out from BandLab, then select Help > Sign In to BandLab to sign in with a different account. Tempo track The new envelope based Tempo track replaces the Tempo view and provides an overview of the project tempo. In the Tempo track, tempo changes are represented by envelope shapes. You edit the project’s tempo map the same way you edit automation envelopes. If a project has a single fixed tempo, the Tempo track shows a straight horizontal line. You create tempo changes by adding envelope nodes and editing their values. You can expand the Tempo track to give yourself more room to work, and adjust the range of values for the Tempo track. To show the Tempo track, do one of the following: Click the Track view View menu and select Tempo Track Show/Hide Select Views > Tempo or press ALT+SHIFT+5 (this also opens the Tempo Inspector) The Tempo track automatically zooms vertically to fit the tempo range each time the tempo envelope is modified. To zoom vertically, drag up/down in the tempo scale with the left mouse button To scroll vertically, drag in the tempo scale with the right mouse button To auto-zoom to fit the envelope, double-click the tempo scale The new Project > Offset Tempo Map command lets you speed up or slow down the entire tempo map. For additional options, right-click the Tempo track. Tip: There is a new workspace named Tempo that has a layout suitable for tempo editing. Note: Your old custom workspaces have no knowledge of the new Tempo track, so you must resave the workspaces if you want to store the state of the Tempo track. Tempo Inspector The Tempo Inspector shows a list of all tempo changes defined in the project’s tempo map, and allows you to edit each tempo change BPM, time position, and curve type. To show/hide the Tempo Inspector, click the Show/Hide Tempo Inspector button at the top of the Inspector pane. To show both the Tempo Inspector and Tempo track, select Views > Tempo or press ALT+SHIFT+5. PC2A T-Type Leveling Amplifier ProChannel module PC2A T-Type Leveling Amplifier is meticulously modeled after a legendary vintage electro-optical tube compressor. This compressor, known for its automatic gain control characteristics, delivers vintage sound with incredibly warm and rich compression. It is revered by audio engineers worldwide for its trademark sound, and has been used on countless hit records since the late 1960s. It is one of the true classics in the audio recording industry. Enhancements Loop current arrangement You can now loop the current arrangement indefinitely by enabling the Loop Enable/Disable button in the Arranger Inspector. Plug-in menu improvements Plug-in menus have been greatly enhanced to make it easier and faster to find and select plug-ins: Plug-in menus show color coded plug-in types (DX/VST2/VST3/32 bit) Large plug-in menus can now show over 1,000 plug-ins Multiple columns appear when applicable Clearer fonts Supports mouse wheel scrolling Supports keyboard navigation: HOME / END PAGE UP / PAGE DOWN Press any alpha-numeric key to go to the first plug-in beginning with that character; press the same character again to go to the next plug-in, etc. Improved automation envelope UI The appearance of automation envelopes has been updated: Automation envelopes are slightly thinner Nodes are smaller and no longer have a gradient Selected nodes are larger and outlined Ghosted envelopes no longer show nodes Show values on automation envelopes You can now optionally show values on envelopes. To show/hide values on automation envelopes, click the Track view View menu and select Display > Show Values on Envelopes. Track Manager preset support The Track Manager dialog box now has support for per-project presets. This is useful if you have a large project and you want to hide all other tracks apart from a certain group of tracks. For example, on a rock project you could have a "Drums only" or "Guitars" preset; on an orchestral project, you may wish to have a "Strings Section" preset that hides all tracks apart from your strings tracks. Note: Tracks within the Tracks Manager presets are "opted-out" - i.e. it remembers which tracks you want to hide, rather than which tracks you want to show (to avoid not being able to see newly created tracks). To open the Track Manager, click the Track view Tracks menu and select Track Manager or press the H key. Convert MIDI continuous controller (CC) events to/from automation envelopes You can convert back and forth between MIDI continuous controller (CC) events and automation envelopes. The existing Track view Clips > Convert MIDI Controllers To Envelopes command lets you convert all CC events on all selected tracks to automation envelopes. You now also have finer control with the ability to convert an individual CC type on a Piano Roll controller lane. You can also convert MIDI automation envelopes back to CC events. You can also choose to convert only a selected part of your CC events / automation envelope and back again. Converting MIDI controllers to envelopes: In the Piano Roll view Controller pane, click the name/label of the CC type that you want to convert to an envelope. Right-click the highlighted CC name/label and select Convert MIDI to Envelopes. Cakewalk converts the Piano Roll view controller data to a Track view envelope that controls the same parameter. Converting envelopes to MIDI controllers: This can be useful, for example, if you want to use the Transform tool in the Piano Roll view Controller pane. In the Clips pane, show the envelope that you want to convert to MIDI controller events. Select the time range that contain the controller data you want to convert, or clear the selection if you want to convert the entire envelope. Right-click envelope and select Convert to MIDI Events. Conversion uses the current Snap to Grid setting as a resolution for discrete CC events: If Snap is off, the resolution is the last selected snap setting If Snap is not set to a musical value (e.g. samples), the resolution is 1/32nd note UI theme compatibility checker IMPORTANT: The Inspector header has a new Show/Hide Tempo Inspector button . In addition to the new button, the other header buttons have been resized. Custom user themes must be updated in order to show the header buttons properly. When you select a theme in Edit > Preferences > Customization - Themes, or launch Cakewalk with an old custom user theme active, Cakewalk checks to make sure the custom theme is compatible with the current version of Cakewalk. A user theme is considered incompatible if Cakewalk contains new or resized UI elements that have not been updated in the theme. If the selected theme needs to be updated, Cakewalk will show a Custom Theme Incompatibility warning, and ask if you want to continue to use the theme: If you click Yes, some UI elements might be corrupted until the theme is updated and resaved in Theme Editor. If you click No, Cakewalk will revert to the factory Mercury theme. Behavior changes Disable Arranger Preview if project does not support it To reinforce that Arranger Preview is not supported in projects that contain video, ReWire synths, and active Region FX, Arranger Preview is now disabled in such projects. Optimizations High resolution Plug-in Automation improvements Plug-in automation envelopes were previously being decimated at a uniform 50 msec interval. The automation rendering process has been redesigned to render at a much higher resolution of (default = 5 msec) and also make automation sample accurate (for VST3). For VST2 (or VST3 plug-ins that do not support sample accurate automation) the rendering will be buffer accurate. These improvements allows for much tighter sync when automating plug-in parameters synced to rhythm even at higher latencies. The higher resolution rendering also makes automating filter sweeps audibly smoother and without aliasing artifacts. The decimation interval can be changed via the audio configuration property AutomationDecimationMsec (2-30) in preferences. Accurate automation writing via MIDI remote control Writing automation for plug-in parameters automated via MIDI remote control is more accurate and curves should be smoothly represented. Bug fixes Stability Crash loading custom plug-in layouts Multichannel WAV files from Behringer X32 mixer crash on import to 24 bit Crash on close of attached project Crash when adding some plug-ins from track template Crash when writing plug-in automation on top of existing automation User reported crash with AmpleSound Cloudrum Crash drag exporting MIDI to browser Dragging a MIDI clip to Kontakt causes crash Crash after moving Arranger Section AmpleSound VST3 plug-ins crash when trying to play attached MIDI file Crash swapping Sections in attached project UI FX Chain assigned controls not working after project reopen Aim Assist is not visible when moving the mouse in the Piano Roll time ruler Drag move of Step Sequencer clip crops unexpectedly Clip outlines in the Piano Roll are practically invisible in the Tungsten theme Dimmed envelopes difficult to see in Tungsten Hide Muted Clips in Piano Roll does not hide MIDI CCs Ripple Edit turns off unexpectedly after bouncing clip. We're pleased to announce Early Access for 2021.12! This release introduces support for nested track folders, localization updates, various enhancements and optimizations, and over 50 bug fixes. We'd love for you to check it out before we drop the official public version. Please test Region FX clips with Melodyne, elastique time stretching and verify that VST3 plug-in operations work normally. Please note that Early Access installers are update installers, which only update from a specific version. To install the 2021.12 Early Access build, you must be on the latest public release of 2021.11. Download Cakewalk 2021.12 EA installer Should you need to revert to the 2021.11 release, you can download the Cakewalk 2021.11 Rollback installer. If you haven't already done so, please read about the Early Access Program before participating. Please keep responses specific to problems or comments on this release. Unrelated bugs or feature requests should be posted in other threads or the feature request channel. Thanks again for your participation! The Bakers Support for nested track folders To improve track organization, Cakewalk now supports nested track folders. A nested folder is a subfolder that is contained within another parent folder. Nested subfolders allow you to organize tracks more logically. For example, you can have a "Guitar" parent folder that contains "Electric" and "Acoustic" subfolders. To only move tracks into another folder, drag one of the tracks or select Move To... from the context menu of one of the tracks. To move the entire folder, drag the folder itself onto another folder, or select Move To... from the context menu of the folder. If a track is in a folder, selecting Move To Folder >New Track Folder will create a new sub-folder at the same level of that track. Note: As with the top level folders, any empty folders (i.e. specifically, folders containing no tracks) will ALWAYS appear below those containing tracks. Tip: When changing the color of a track folder, hold down the CTRL key to apply the same color to all child tracks within the folder. New behavior when dragging tracks/folders Dragging a track to the left side moves it out of the folder. Dragging to the right side moves it to the bottom of the existing folder at the target location (i.e. same level as the track above). Tip: While dragging, look at the left edge of the drop indicator - it will be exactly at the folder depth the track will be placed at. Expand/collapse track folder modifiers SHIFT+click on folder +/- to expand/collapse entire folder hierarchy of the folder you clicked on. CTRL+SHIFT+click on folder +/- to expand/collapse all folders in project. This is convenient if you want to quickly expand the hierarchy to search for a track, but then want to collapse it all. Localization update The French, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese and Russian versions of Cakewalk have been updated. German and Portuguese will be updated before the public release. Note: There are several known localization layout/formatting issues (truncated text, etc.) that will be addressed before public release) Issues resolved in Cakewalk 2021.12 EA (build 27.12.0.093) Stability: Crash loading export task settings Crash if wildcard left in place when adding path Hang on project load with user project Fix for JBridge crash when flushing plug-ins Guard against crash/hang with sample counts going negative Export: Export task fails with no meaningful message if drive or path is invalid Export fails to render Radius stretched clips unless a time range is explicitly selected Export as MIDI File should not show audio track warning message Filename incorrect when recalling task with period in filename Regression: Audio export path not immediately updated on project save Export Audio dialog: Add keyboard navigation support Using space bar to update multiple selection items doesn't update range dropdown Selection flyout not updating Time Range dropdown Mouse wheel scrolling skips rows in 'Tracks/Buses in Project' list Inconsistent selection recall on Export Task recall Expand width of Export Multiple Files Task queue panel should limit its height to queue size + 1 UI: Preferences Categories illegible in High Contrast mode in Windows Expose Arranger, Export Audio dialog, and Tempo track to Help Module Folder colors / original folder ordering not restored on Undo Delete Folder Destination folder should expand when moving tracks Click on Folder comp clip not selecting all tracks Folders missing "Move to Track Folder" in Context Menu when single folder present CTRL + click folder color bar should change color for all folder contents Track range selection does not work as expected with folders Lasso select within Clips View selects all articulations Fixed accessibility/screen reader support in several menus (eg. plug-in menus) Add Subfolders count to top folder stats - added read-only stats for immediate sub-folder count Unable to edit tempo change time in Tempo Inspector Track Manager fails to open from Console view if project contains folders with nothing but empty sub-folders Archive button not showing tri state on folders Note: If you use a custom user theme, you must update the Archive button in Theme Editor (found under Tack View > Track Pane > Archive). [Updated 24-Jun-2021] We're pleased to announce Early Access for 2021.06! This release introduces improved input/output port naming, improved dropout management, several Arranger enhancements, Tempo track grid lines, shape smoothing options when using the Freehand tool on envelope shapes, improved VST3 support, lots of other enhancements and optimizations, and over 25 bug fixes. We'd love for you to check it out before we drop the official public version. Please note that Early Access installers are update installers, which only update from a specific version. To install the 2021.06 Early Access build, you must be on the latest public release of 2021.04. Download Cakewalk 2021.06 EA installer Should you need to revert to the 2021.04 release, you can download the Cakewalk 2021.04 Rollback installer. If you haven't already done so, please read about the Early Access Program before participating. Please keep responses specific to problems or comments on this release. Unrelated bugs or feature requests should be posted in other threads or the feature request channel. Thanks again for your participation! The Bakers 2021.06 Highlights New features Improved input/output port naming for hardware and software ports In Cakewalk all ports are grouped into stereo pairs of channels. In order to make it easier to associate these pairs with the physical channels exposed by the hardware or virtual instrument, the port naming conventions have been improved. Audio and soft synth input and output ports now include a channel number prefix before the port name. Additionally, port names now always show the actual names of the referenced channels. (previously only the first channel name would be shown). Since many instruments have different names for channels or even dynamic names, the channel index can be used to identify a specific instrument output more easily. When using user defined device names (Use friendly names to represent audio drivers) you can now specify both the left and right channels in the stereo pair by using the pipe symbol “|” to delimit the channel names. For example, entering a friendly name of “Guitar|Voice” may show 1: Guitar, 2: Voice, 1+2: Guitar + Voice in the menus. Port names have been shortened to skip the device vendor name for greater legibility in the Track view, Console view and Inspector. The tooltip for the name will show the full form of the name. Port names are no longer compacted. With the smarter port naming, in most cases there should be no need to use friendly names to shorten the strings, unless you wish to use instrument names for the ports. Edit Filter values and MIDI channels are no longer compacted, which makes it easier to read parameter names in most cases. In the Console view Hardware Outs section, hardware out names now show channel indexes as well as channel names in ASIO mode. Sends now show shortened port names and use port numbering when applicable. Improved dropout management In version 2019.09 we introduced Dropout Analytics to allow diagnosing and resolving common causes of audio dropouts. While dropout messages may be useful to diagnose the cause of problems, they can be intrusive to workflow when small audio interruptions are inconsequential, such as when editing projects, loading and saving sessions, etc. In this release we manage dropouts more intelligently throughout the application by masking certain categories of dropout notifications when they are less important. The following dropout codes are considered maskable since they are caused by CPU load issues, while other dropouts are caused by system events that cannot be resumed from easily: Dropout code 1: Audio processing took longer than the buffers allotted time slice. Dropout code 3: Driver did not request audio buffers for over DropoutMsec milliseconds. Possible driver overload. Dropouts are masked in the following scenarios The application is idling (transport is not running) Performing various editing operations Performing real time bounce/export/freeze (rendered data will be free of glitches even if the audio playback contains glitches, as long as you are not rendering external hardware inserts) Playing back using the Play List view Opening and closing views Opening and closing documents Operating screen sets Mix Recall Handling dropouts during playback and recording Under normal conditions, Cakewalk always stops playback or recording if too many late buffers are encountered while playing. However there may be circumstances where a dropout that stops playback is disruptive, such as when doing an unattended recording or playing back in a live scenario. To handle these cases, a new MaskDropoutDetection option in Edit > Preferences > Audio - Configuration File can be used to suppress dropouts. Setting this value to True will activate dropout masking during playback and recording. When activated, Cakewalk will continue playback and recording after it encounters a maskable dropout. This can prevent unwanted interruption of playback or a lost take while recording. Notes: If the dropouts are extreme, recorded audio may contain glitches. Please follow the normal dropout diagnosis procedure for minimizing dropouts. The Play List view will always ignore dropouts irrespective of this setting. Only CPU load related dropouts are masked. Other dropouts such as driver requested stops or disk underruns will still cause playback to stop. Create new arrangement based on existing arrangement You can now quickly create a new arrangement by selecting sections in an existing arrangement. To do so, select the desired sections in the Arranger Inspector’s Arrangements pane, then right-click in the Arrangements pane and select New Arrangement From Selection. Insert committed arrangement at the Now Time You can now insert a committed arrangement into the existing project at the Now Time. To do so, right-click the Commit Arrangement to Project button in the Arranger Inspector and select Insert Committed Arrangement. Sections for the inserted arrangement are added to new Arranger track. Any other existing Arranger tracks, sections and arrangements remain unaffected. Any existing events after the Now Time will be shifted over to make room for the inserted arrangement. As with the Commit Arrangement to Project command, holding down the SHIFT key while selecting the command will cause the events under the arrangement sections to be copied as linked clips. Optional grid lines in the Tempo track To show grid lines in the Tempo track, right-click in the Tempo track and select Show Grid Lines. Specify shape smoothing behavior when using the Freehand tool on automation envelopes You can specify how shape smoothing works when using the Freehand tool on envelope shapes. To do so, click the Track view Options menu, point to Freehand Smoothing, then select one of the following options: Smooth. Uses the existing fit-to-curve functionality. This is the default setting. As Drawn (Linear). Joins the nodes up with linear shapes. As Drawn (Jumps). Leaves the nodes as is, making them jump shapes. Replace synth on a single Instrument track When inserting a multi-output soft synth with the Instrument Track Per Output option enabled, Cakewalk creates multiple Instrument tracks that share a single instance of the soft synth. You can now replace the soft synth on an individual Instrument track without affecting other Instrument tracks that share the same soft synth instance. To do so, right-click the Instrument track strip and select Replace Synth for This Track Only. Note Names in the Piano Roll view persist per track When assigning a custom Note Name setting in the Piano Roll view (right-click the piano keyboard or note label pane), the setting now persists on a per track basis. Closing and re-opening the Piano Roll view remembers the last setting used for each track. The settings are with the project. Articulation Map Editor: optional time offset and duration override for ‘New Note’ transforms In the Articulation Map Editor, you can now offset the start time and override the duration of New Note output events in the Transform Existing MIDI Events section. Time Offset (T). A positive time delay in MBT that will be applied to the new note. Duration Override (D). A replacement duration for the new note. If left at 0:00:000, the new note will inherit the duration of the original note. Reorder multiple tracks simultaneously You can reorder multiple tracks simultaneously by dragging in the Track pane. To do so, select the tracks that you want to reorder, then drag any selected track. Restrictions: You can’t move the selection on or before tracks within the selection (i.e. in effect trying to move it onto itself) You can’t move a selection containing track folders into a track folder (nested folders are currently not supported) If a track folder is selected (whether or not all the tracks within the folder are selected or not), the whole track folder is moved, unless you are moving selected tracks from within a single track folder out of the track folder. ‘Duplicate Selected Clip(s) as Linked Clips’ command To duplicate the selected clip(s) as linked clips, press CTRL+SHIFT+D. Improved VST3 support Support for VST3’s new MIDI CC learn functionality. This is used by any VST3 plug-ins that utilize MIDI learn from CCs. VST audio buses (inputs/outputs) are now disabled by default and enabled on demand based on which tracks utilize the buses. With instruments that have many outputs this can save memory and CPU. Added support for IPlugInterfaceSupport and IProcessContextRequirements and IComponentHandlerBusActivation Misc. enhancements ALT+mouse wheel now zooms in the Piano Roll view Drum Grid pane Improved font rendering in new menus Behavior changes Insert Tempo Change dialog defaults to ‘Change the Most Recent Tempo’ The Insert Tempo Change dialog box defaults to Change the Most Recent Tempo, unless clicking the Insert Tempo Change button in the Tempo Inspector, in which case it defaults to Insert a New Tempo. Optimizations Improved app startup time when using WASAPI driver mode With some multichannel audio devices, app startup could be very slow in earlier versions while Cakewalk tried to evaluate the number of output channels. This information is now cached to allow the app to start up quickly. Bug fixes Stability Cakewalk crashes if AWS is down Crash in CCmdAddTempoTrackTempo after wiping tracks UI ASIO Input and output port names and indexes are incorrect if preceding audio devices deselected in preferences Adding Time Signature change from Meter/Key view causes Now Time to jump unexpectedly When no markers are selected, clicking empty space in the Markers view shows Lock unexpectedly Unexpected behavior in localized Kind of Event dialog (Event List) Clip Fade Attenuation not drawing as expected Tempo track Tempo track does not respond to commas for decimals Delete Hole not working with Tempo track Undo of Cut/Delete loses Tempo track selection "No change" tempo entries being removed REGRESSION: Nudging MIDI notes with absolute time not respecting tempo changes Extract tempo using Melodyne, AudioSnap & Fit To Improvisation should not use "smooth shapes" Arranger Commit Arrangement losing tempo entries Incorrect Arranger section numbering when inserting sections in the Inspector Buses are selected unexpectedly after moving Arranger section Articulation Maps Reassigning an articulation using the Choose dialog not working Misc. Track templates ignore phase settings MIDI input ports not assigned correctly after saving as track template Undo of delete instrument track not working with drum maps in project Drag Moving a MIDI clip crops it Strips menu in Console view hides Instrument tracks unexpectedly with MIDI tracks Process > Slide produces unexpected results with envelopes Exclusive Solo does not initially work as expected after export Automation to MIDI controllers: Incorrect conversion for pitch wheel Spurious dropouts on project load/close/bounce Known issues The following issues are known and will be addressed before the public release: Incorrect font sizes in Articulation Maps dialogs. A small number of users have reported seeing unreadable text in plug-in menus. We are currently investigating and hope to release a fix soon. In the meantime, we have made a temporary workaround available. If you are experiencing this problem, add the following variable in Cakewalk.ini (Edit > Preferences > File - Initialization File). EnableStandardTextLayouts=1 To disable again, set the variable to EnableStandardTextLayouts=0 or delete the variable.35 points

Hi guys, I hope all of you have had an incredible 2018 and are looking forward to winding down (if you haven't already) for the Christmas period. For everyone around the world on the BandLab Technologies, BandLab (and CbB) team, it's been a mad 12 months with a tremendous amount of milestones reached, but one of the crowning highlights was of course getting the opportunity to get to know this particularly community better and to bring Cakewalk into being part of our group journey. It feels like only yesterday we were releasing the news, and I hope you guys haven't felt that we have let you down in the months since. We have seen an amazing take-up of Cakewalk since we relaunched the product as Cakewalk by BandLab - far beyond even our own expectations. As I mentioned in a blog post yesterday about reaching 5 million users earlier this month on BandLab - we are humbled by the support, feedback and passion with which you, the community, engage with us, the product and each other. There are too many names to thank, but none of what we have today with Cakewalk would have been possible without Noel, Ben and their desire and vision to be part of the opportunity forward with us here at BandLab. So with that, an early Christmas present we have for all of you is the launch of the new forum! As promised, we wanted to make sure the old format lived on - topics, threads and an incredible resource for anyone getting to know the product. It's not been ideal that we had to turn off new sign ups to forum.cakewalk.com, especially for the massive community of new users who have flooded in around the world to start using Cakewalk - but we hope it was worth the wait. It's a little empty at the moment and is really a clean slate, so please make yourselves feel at home. Forums only exist to serve the community that lives within them so instead of seeding content we thought it would be best to leave it fresh for you to jump in and get comfortable. Instead of the previous situation where nothing can be hosted on the site - we've also decided to launch with everyone having 50MB of usable space per user and there's also a snazzy new BandLab integration (written by Jesse) that allows you to leverage our embeddable players to share your music with other members of the community. Notifications and emails are also all working, though you may experience a couple of emails going to spam, especially if you use Gmail, so make sure you check in that folder if you can't find any notifications from the forum. Jumping in is easy, just like this forum was accessed via a single sign-on Cakewalk account - this is now the case with your BandLab account and you can connect straight through and set up your profile. I hope you guys will like the new home and we look forward to sharing more about the things we've got in the roadmap for the year ahead. If any of you are planning to be at NAMM in Anaheim for the January show, please also don't hesitate to reach out and stop by to say hello! Much love, Meng & all on the BandLab Team p.s please also send your appreciation to @Jesse Jost and @laurent for their hard work in getting this place up and running amongst all the other things they are working on! ------ Why did we create this new site for the forum instead of continuing to use the old one? As I'm sure you'll notice, the new site allows us to develop on a much stronger infrastructure and architecture for the go forward - providing our users the opportunity to create new accounts (sorry!) but also to introduce more forum tools, user storage, Q&A discussions for better technical engagement, community voting and more. The new site also helps to provide a fresh start for the go-forward whilst not destroying the structure of the old site and potentially affecting the value of it as a resource to the community. Will the old forum go away? In a couple of weeks' time, the old forum will become read-only, at which point you will no longer be able to post. However, we feel (and have taken your recommendations) that it remains a vital resource for the long term and we intend to keep it hosted and to remain in its current place at https://forum.cakewalk.com.35 points

The tools have been completely rewritten. All have font support, light and dark styles. Upsample Editor now supports in table edits. VST Inventory has selectable columns. Old Launchpad users make sure to copy "CbB Tools.exe" into the old Launchpad folder. Others may copy the "CbB Tools.exe" where ever they like such as "C:\Program Files\CbB Tools" I will leave the old versions available as the new ones no longer support 32bit SONAR. I added font size selection to a few of my CbB/SONAR utilities. There are updated versions of Launchpad - an alternative to the start screen Plug-in Upsample Editor - a tool to manage upsample data in Aud.ini Tools Editor - a program to manage the tools section of the Utility menu available here along with a few other CbB/SONAR related things. The utilities are about half way down the page. As always, if there are questions or issues with anything on the page just let me know. For best performance, whitelist the "CbB Tools.exe" process in your antivirus software. Inventory Tool really benefits from whitelisting. IK is pleased to announce a new version of the IK Product Manager available to improve the experience of all IK virtual instrument users. From today, you can reload any of your instrument sound files at any time with version 1.0.10 of the IK Product Manager. There are no more fees or time restrictions for these downloads. Until now, if you didn't or couldn't download all of your IK virtual instrument sounds files within a 180-day timeframe following registration, you'd be required to purchase a "Sounds Download Reactivation Credit" for an additional 180 days to download the sounds. We trust this new policy is welcome news for many IK users. We still recommend that you back up any sound files you download, but they'll be in IK Product Manager if you need them again. IK Multimedia Instructions To get the latest version, launch IK Product Manager and follow the prompts to update. Or for new installations, you can download IK Product Manager here.33 points

There will definitely be more dev work. If anything, it's the ongoing work that has resulted in in this taking longer than our usual releases, and due to various reasons, some out of our control, schedules keep changing. Hopefully in the next few weeks you folks will at least learn more about why it's been taking longer. It's definitely not that we've been idling here One thing we've been attempting to work on (won't be in the immediate CbB update since work is still underway) among other big things is a big UI refresh to modernize the look of the application and support high resolution displays better, which is a huge undertaking that touches all the user interface. And this is only the tip of the iceberg but I digress.33 points

2019.07 Feature Overview Authors: Noel Borthwick, Morten Saether Introduction The 2019.07 update is our biggest release to date with over 150 bug fixes and feature enhancements. Please also refer to the new features section of our documentation for more detailed information on the features. This release focuses on editing enhancements and fixing long standing bugs. Track lane editing has been significantly streamlined, allowing for clip comping and assembly with greater fluidity. This release introduces numerous other improvements, including Smart tool customization, Control Bar module alignment, drag-drop refinements and more. The following highlights are intended to provide an overview of the more significant changes, along with screen captures to help illustrate feature usage. Editing and Comping Enhancements Editing and assembly of audio and MIDI data as well as automation in tracks is one of the primary functions of a DAW. While Cakewalk had powerful tools to manage editing and comping using take and automation lanes, we acknowledged some workflow problems when dealing with general editing of audio in lanes. Many users have requested the ability to simply assemble clips in lanes like generic track layers, without being encumbered by the more exclusive track comping rules. In the 2019.07 update we extended both take and automation lanes to allow for greater flexibility when editing data, allowing working with lanes as if they were simple track layers, without imposing a comping exclusive workflow. To support this we’ve enhanced drag and drop and copy paste functionality and the Smart tool has been made configurable to support a more flexible editing workflow. Copy/paste and drag drop enhancements The copy/paste and drag and drop infrastructure in Cakewalk underwent a major rework in this release and additionally includes enhanced support for take and automation lanes. There are numerous enhancements to drag and drop behavior to better accommodate editing within lanes Pasting clips in lanes now always pastes starting at the destination lane and will never overwrite data in earlier lanes. In prior versions pasting clip data to a lane would attempt to match the pasted data to the lanes from which they originated, leading to unexpected results when pasting to different tracks or different lanes. The order and names of the original take lanes is also now retained when pasting to new lanes. With lanes are open, you can also paste or drag clips from lanes directly to the parent tracks header strip in the clips pane (the main parent strip containing the lanes), or to another tracks header strip. Drag and drop and copy paste of audio clips and automation is also supported across different projects Drag and drop visual preview has also been enhanced to clearly represent the final state after the drag operation. The table below illustrates the behavior differences when dragging data to the same track it originated from vs dragging to a different track: Destination Paste Result Lane in same track Pastes clips starting at the target lane Retains inter-lane spacing Creates new lanes if necessary Lane in new track Pastes clips starting at the target lane Creates new lanes if necessary, if multiple lanes Header strip in same track Pastes clips to the same lanes from which they originated Header strip in different track Pastes consecutively starting from the first lane in the track Creates new lanes if necessary, if multiple lanes EXAMPLE: Pasting multiple clips from lanes to the track header on the same track (retains lane spacing and pastes to same lanes) vs the track header on a new track. EXAMPLE: Dragging multiple clips from lanes to the last lane in a track creates new clips in adjacent lanes EXAMPLE: Copying and pasting multiple clips from lanes to the last lane in a track creates new clips in adjacent lanes EXAMPLE: Copy pasting clips from multiple lanes to a track in a different document EXAMPLE: Dragging clips from multiple lanes to blank space below all tracks in the Clips panewill automatically create a new track with the copied lanes EXAMPLE: Dragging from one track to different lanes in another track EXAMPLE: Dragging audio and MIDI takes to a lane that already has data will auto crop the existing data following comping rules EXAMPLE: Duplicating a track retains lane ordering from original track EXAMPLE: Quickly select a lane by double clicking the white space in a lane Smart Tool customization The Smart tool can now be customized in order to enable specific functions, including Move, Crop, Fade, Draw, and Comp. With the Smart tool in comping mode (default) editing in take lanes favors assembly of a master take, by automatically creating splits and isolating clips when editing using the mouse in the lower half of a clip. You now have the flexibility of turning off comp mode in the Smart tool. When disabled you can freely edit data in lanes without the tool muting other clips. Prior to this assembling audio clips without comping in take lanes could be difficult using the Smart tool, because the lower half of the clip was always reserved for comping behavior. EXAMPLE: Disabling Smart tool Comp behavior to do normal editing vs the comp tool isolating clips Using Lanes to Edit Track Layers Since take lanes were introduced users have requested the ability to edit data in lanes without the exclusive comping behavior that take lanes imposed. We have now introduced the ability to work with lanes as if they were simple track layers. This allows for a more flexible workflow that is more geared towards assembly and editing of audio rather than actually comping and also allows for polyphonic (sound on sound) layering of different takes if you desire that workflow. With these changes you can freely assemble a set of lanes without comping them into a single master take. I.e. Comping is optional or can be deferred to a later part of the production process. When the comping tool is disabled in the Smart tool, clips on lanes can now overlap with other lanes in time allowing for sound on sound playback similar to how they would sound if the clips resided on separate tracks. This allows you to easily experiment with layering or overlapping different versions of a take. EXAMPLE: Using lanes to assemble multiple clips that overlap in time Editing Behavior Changes In order to improve workflow, a few default behaviors have changed: Moving clips in take lanes no longer modifies track automation by default. If you want track automation to follow when you drag a clip in a take lane, drop the clip on the parent track (comp clip) instead of a take lane. EXAMPLE: Moving clips in lanes no longer moves track automation unless moved to the parent strip When isolating clips in take lanes during playback, the Now time no longer automatically jumps to the beginning of the isolated clip. To jump to the clip start when isolating clips, hold down the SHIFT key. You can also audition the selected clip by pressing SHIFT+SPACEBAR. You can now drag multiple MIDI or audio clips from the media browser to add new take lanes EXAMPLE: Dragging MIDI and audio clips from Browser to add take lanes Clicking in the Clips pane or bus pane during playback will set the playback position. This allows you to easily audition playback starting from a waveform peak. This behavior can be customized via the new Click Behavior> Set During Playback option in the Track view Options menu. Lanes Productivity Cheat Sheet Click in the lower half of a clip to isolate it. Drag in the lower half of a clip to isolate a region of the clip. Dragging over existing isolated regions will automatically heal any smaller enclosed regions. To heal splits in clips on a lane (caused by using the comp tool or splitting clips manually), select multiple clips on the lane and CTRL-click the lower half of the clip. CTRL-click in the lower half of a clip to toggle the clip isolation state. I.e. you can isolate or un-isolate a clip this way, allowing layering multiple lanes. To isolate multiple clips, select the desired clips, then right-click and choose Isolate Clip(s) on lane To toggle isolate state of multiple clips, select the desired clips, then right-click and choose Clip Mute/Unmute SHIFT-click a clip when playing to automatically isolate the clip and jump the playback position to the start of the clip. (quick audition mode) Select a clip and press SHIFT+SPACEBAR to start playback and audition just that single clip CTRL-drag from the top of the clip to add a clip gain envelope CTRL-drag inside a fade between two abutting clips to adjust the crossfade duration SHIFT-click a ghosted clip envelope to activate it for editing SHIFT-click on a clip to switch the edit filter back to clips Double-click the whitespace in a lane to select the lane To assemble or layer clips without comping them into a single master take, right click and customize the Smart tool to turn off Comp mode. When Comp mode is off you can freely drag and arrange clips in lanes, without the comping rules changing the mute states or cropping clips on other intersecting lanes. * Most of the tips above are with reference to the Smart tool in Comp mode. Recording Loop recording on a track in Comp record mode will now automatically crop clips using the comping rules EXAMPLE: Loop recording on lanes with 4 record passes and stopping before the loop end. The final recording will crop data appropriately using the standard comping rules so that you only hear the most recent take. EXAMPLE: Punch in recording on lanes Automation Improvements Automation is an integral part of editing. In this release we have improved general editing for automation envelopes and edit filter behavior, as well as better integrated automation editing in lanes. A few highlights: The edit filter now works consistently on tracks and lanes when used to select multiple clip envelopes, track envelopes and synth envelopes. Addressed problems with editing clip envelope in lanes Copying and pasting envelopes is now lane compliant and will paste to independent automation lanes Automation can now be copied across projects Automation lanes are now created after recording track automation Automation lanes retain the lane order when pasted to a destination track Edit filter state is now loaded properly when projects are opened Duplicating a track now retains its automation lanes EXAMPLE: Copying and pasting track automation in track automation lanes EXAMPLE: Copying and pasting track automation to a bus with bus automation lanes open Selection Updates There have been numerous fixes and improvements to time selection. Double clicking the whitespace in the Clips pane for a track or a lane now automatically selects the track/lane Clip selection now works consistently on tracks and lanes Deleting tracks now exclusively uses track selection and ignores clip selection. i.e if clips are selected on other tracks and you right click on a track and delete it only the single track will be deleted. Selection markers in time ruler The time ruler now shows draggable markers at either end of the time selection range. You can modify the start or end of the selection by dragging these markers or move the entire time selection by dragging the selection range bar. Show Audio/MIDI Device Change Notifications Cakewalk by default will show a message if an audio or MIDI device is connected/disconnected from your system while you are using it and offer to add the devices, or reroute outputs to an available device. Some audio devices can send spurious device change notifications to Windows when switching between applications that use the audio devices. This can result in unexpected notification popups being displayed. You can now disable device change notification messages in preferences. Stability We have made numerous fixes to improve stability during editing of clips and automation and when loading projects. Please refer to the bug fix list for more details. Plug-ins Based on reports of plugin states being lost we have added more detailed diagnostics to aid in detection of such problems. A "Failed to load plug-in state” message may be displayed if an error was detected. ProChannel EQ Fly Out will now show tips in the Help Module. Optimizations Toast notifications when scanning plugins or loading projects as well as progress updates are now multi threaded, allowing the main application UI to run more smoothly. Loading of screensets in projects with high track counts has been optimized leading to faster screenset loading. For some users who saved projects with the media browser pointing to a directory with thousands of files, reloading these projects would be slow. Media Browser has now been optimized to start up faster. UI Updates Center Control Bar modules Control Bar modules can be left-aligned, justified, or centered. The centered mode is useful when you have fewer control bar modules open when using a simpler lens. EXAMPLE: Control Bar with new center justification Loop and Punch marker enhancements The time ruler now uses more intuitive mouse cursors for selection, loop, punch and marker drag bars and handles. The mouse cursor shows a letter to indicate which marker will be modified before you actually click the marker: S (Selection), L (Loop), P (Punch), and M (Marker). You can drag a Loop or Punch marker past its paired sibling marker in order to flip the range in the opposite direction. Help module content for Clips In addition to a brief description of the clip type, the Help Module also lists common Smart tool gestures that are supported by each unique clip type. This can be a useful tool for quick reference to the hot spots available when working in the Clips pane. EXAMPLE: Help module now shows help for hotspots in the Clips pane Click Behavior By default clicking in the clips pane or bus pane during playback will now set the playback position. This allows you to easily audition playback starting from a waveform peak. If you prefer clicking to not set the playback position, this behavior can be customized via the new Click Behavior > Set During Playback option in the Track view Options menu.29 points

[CLOSED] 2020.10 Early Access installer now available! [UPDATE 30-Oct-2020: Cakewalk 2020.10 Early Access 3 is now available] We're pleased to announce Early Access for 2020.10! This release introduces Articulation Maps, which are a universal way to deal with expressions/articulations in VST instruments or hardware MIDI instruments. Other enhancements include in-app activation/refresh, ARA/Melodyne algorithm picker when converting audio to MIDI or performing tempo extraction, Clips pane drawing and scrolling optimizations, project template enhancements, and much more, including over 40 bug fixes. Please note that the ARA/Melodyne algorithm picker is a pre-release feature and will only be visible if you are running a beta of the upcoming Melodyne 5 release. We'd love for you to check it out before we drop the official public version. This time we're also providing an easy rollback installer should you need to quickly revert to the last public release for any reason. Please note that Early Access installers are update installers, which only update from a specific version. To install the 2020.10 Early Access build, you must be on the latest public release of 2020.09. The 2020.10 Early Access build can be downloaded and installed from within Cakewalk by going to Help > Check for Updates, then clicking the Download Now link in the "Early Access Available" toast notification. Download Cakewalk 2020.10 EA installer Should you need to revert to the 2020.09 release, you can download the Cakewalk 2020.09 Rollback installer. If you haven't already done so, please read about the Early Access Program before participating. Thanks again for your participation! The Bakers 2020.10 Highlights New features Articulation Maps Articulation maps are a universal way to deal with expressions/articulations in VST instruments or hardware MIDI instruments that may be controlled by various methods including: Note “key switches” The velocity of a note Control change events Grouping of patches across different MIDI channels (e.g. legato strings patch on ch 1, pizzicato patch on ch 2, etc.) If you work with sample libraries and virtual instruments, articulation maps are sure to improve your MIDI and articulation/keyswitch workflow. Recreating a convincing performance with sample libraries and virtual instruments can be a difficult task. The process is made somewhat easier if the sampled instrument includes a range of performance articulations, which is commonly controlled via “keyswitches”. These are used to trigger different sample layers that contain the various performance options. Cakewalk's support for articulation maps make it easy to work with articulations and keyswitches. Articulation maps provide a much simpler way of switching articulations, without having to manually edit MIDI events in the track. All articulations appear neatly at the top of the PRV instead of spread across the Notes pane, which helps you to better visualize and edit the articulations and keyswitches. When recording, you can focus on the actual performance — getting the right notes, rather than building expression into the performance — then use articulations to add expression after the basic performance has been recorded. Adding articulations as part of the editing process is often easier than trying to play keyswitches in live via your keyboard. Articulations do either, or both, of the following: Trigger new MIDI events (create ‘MIDI Events’ in the Articulation Map Editor) Alter existing MIDI events (create ‘MIDI Transforms’ in the Articulation Map Editor) Articulations that are added to MIDI and Instrument tracks are automatically applied during playback. Cakewalk includes a few general-purpose articulation maps that let you experiment with the feature. You can create your own articulation maps, or download maps for orchestra libraries and virtual instruments. Cakewalk can import Cubase expression maps, so you can get started quickly by downloading maps for popular instrument libraries such as Vienna Symphonic Library, Garritan, Kontakt, etc. For detailed info, see the attached PDF. Articulation Maps.pdf In-app activation You can now activate Cakewalk directly from within the app, without requiring BandLab Assistant. Cakewalk must be activate once every 6 months. When starting Cakewalk for the first time, if the app has not yet been activated via BandLab assistant, you will be presented with a BandLab sign-in dialog box. After signing in, Cakewalk will automatically activate itself. You must use your BandLab user name in the sign-in prompt, not your email address. Please note that sign-in is completely optional and only used to activate Cakewalk independently from BandLab Assistant. Sign-in currently does not support Single sign-on. If you do not have your BandLab username and password, please use BandLab Assistant to perform activation. Activation will occur automatically when launching the app if it is in the “grace period”, the period that begins when you see the timeout toast notification asking you to sign in to BandLab to activate soon. Under normal circumstances, activation will require no manual user intervention going forward, beyond the initial sign-in. Note that an Internet connection is required for performing activation as described above but not required for general Cakewalk usage. Offline activation is also an option, which requires use of BandLab Assistant to submit an offline activation request. You can force an activation refresh with the Help > Refresh Activation command. ARA/Melodyne algorithm picker (pre-release) When converting audio to MIDI by dragging an audio clip to a MIDI track, or performing tempo extraction by dragging an audio clip to the time ruler, you can now select the desired algorithm. Note: The algorithm picker will only work on Melodyne 5 and higher. VST instruments can use custom instrument definitions Some VST instruments do not expose their patch list, either because they are emulating a hardware device and solely rely on MIDI bank select/program changes, or in the case of library hosts such as Kontakt, they have no fixed list of instruments - in other words its up to the user to choose their instrument mapping. You can now use any instrument definition with a VSTi from a new drop-down menu in the Patch Browser dialog box (click Patch Browser in the Inspector). If < default for instrument > is selected, then the patches are retrieved from the VSTi as normal, otherwise the patch list is taken from the selected instrument definition. Enhancements Application memory footprint has been reduced (dynamic VST Plug-in Buffer sizes) In prior versions of Cakewalk, cached plug-in buffers would be allocated at a size of 32K samples irrespective of the audio buffer size. This gets quite expensive when you have a project with hundreds of plug-ins especially with plug-ins having multiple inputs and outputs. Plug-in buffer sizes are now dynamically adjusted to be based on the audio buffer size rather than an arbitrary max limit. This makes a big difference in projects running at low latency buffers. Relative resizing of selected tracks You can resize all selected tracks to the same size, or by a relative amount, by using the following modifiers: SHIFT+drag resizes all selected tracks to the same size CTRL+drag resizes all selected tracks by the same amount relative to their current size ARA updates Cakewalk supports the latest ARA SDK from Celemony. Adjust split point on a single Take lane If you have several clips in a track with a common split point, the Move Split Point tool always moves all the split points together. To move only the split point on a single lane, hold down the ALT key when using the Move Split Point tool. CTRL-click Duplicate Track button to specify settings To specify settings when duplicating a track, hold down the CTRL key and click the Duplicate Track button . Allow track FX bin to be bypassed via control surfaces rather than just individual FX In addition to individual effects, entire track FX Racks can now be bypassed via control surfaces. Passing an FX index of -1 (65535) will bypass the entire track FX Rack. The Mackie Control surface has been updated to use M1+Select button to toggle track FX Rack bypass. Update installer has option to launch Cakewalk When installing an update from within Cakewalk, you can now choose to automatically launch Cakewalk after the installation completes. New Project File dialog improvements The New Project File dialog box (File > New) now lets you specify folder paths, tempo, meter, bit depth, and sample rate settings for the -- No Tracks or Buses -- option (previously named -- Blank Project --). File Stats improvements When starting a new project from a project template, the File Stats window in the Notes Browser now start the Editing Time and Revision counters at 0. To reset the file stats, right-click in the File Stats window and select Reset File Stats. Early Access Notifications Cakewalk now presents a toast notification when an Early Access build is available. Early Access builds are completely optional, providing access to the next version of Cakewalk before its official release. There's a good chance you're reading this as a result of an Early Access toast! Optimizations Clips pane drawing and scrolling optimizations Major optimizations to clips view drawing to eliminate redundant drawing of clips. Projects with tracks containing many Take lanes with muted clips now draw and scroll more than 20x faster. Scrolling with Display Muted Takes In Parent Track enabled now has almost similar performance to having that option disabled. Waveform drawing is now optimized for faster drawing. Note: The Display Muted Takes In Parent Track option now defaults to OFF for new installations. Bus pane optimizations Drawing and mouse handling in the Bus pane has been optimized to prevent audio glitches and late buffers Bug fixes Stability Crash on insert of Track Template Crash on Delete Hole of project Crash closing project after loading track template containing VST3 synth User reported crash when looping audio clip User Reported Crash with the Play List Crash when displaying dropout toast message Intermittent crashes in Arranger Track nullptr crash in Staff view Adding ProChannel Track Compressor on surround bus crashes UI CTRL-click Duplicate Track button should bring up duplicate track dialog Hidden Clips can be edited in Track view Mute Tool operates on hidden clips in Track Select Tool selecting invisible muted clips when Display Muted Clips In Parent Track is unchecked Scrolling view left while dragging note causes PRV to fail to Snap By Center on Now Time with Keyboard Zoom only works if Mouse Zoom is set to Now Time Sluggish Scrolling in project Enable/Disable Read Automation shortcut not working Replace Synth can fail to rename track Unexpected changes to track input when using MIDI transformation synths Hiding icons in Synth Rack causes alignment error Enabling MIDI Out on some synths causes all synths to appear in MIDI Input picker Arranger Section Rename can unexpectedly run into Browser F2 Rename on Section Headers does not always work Section Rename could occasionally hang the application Section menus would occasionally not dismiss resulting in multiple menus being displayed Setting now time in arranger during playback doesn't respect the Set Time During Playback click behavior Clicking away from Rename of Section causes Windows "ping" Arranger not automatically fixing overlapping sections in some circumstances ALT+mouse wheel zoom unavailable in Arranger track Misc. The Bakers 2020.07 Highlights For detailed info, see the attached PDF. New Features in Cakewalk 2020.07.pdf New features Multiple Arranger tracks A project can contain multiple Arranger tracks, with each track containing its own set of sections. Multiple Arranger tracks provides many benefits, including: Simultaneously declare multiple sections intersecting within a given range of time. Define and organize sub-sections within a larger section. For example, if you have a live recording of multiple songs, you can use one Arranger track to mark out each song, and another to mark out the verses and choruses within each song. Use multiple sections for generic annotation within a project. Multiple Arranger Tracks.mp4 Arranger section types Arranger sections can be assigned to an optional section type attribute, such as Verse, Chorus, Bridge, etc. Cakewalk includes many common section types, and you can create your own custom section type presets. Section types provide the following benefits: By tagging sections with type attributes, you can use Arranger templates to instantly create new arrangements from your existing sections. Quickly assign consistent names and colors to sections that serve specific musical functions in a song. Directly insert new sections that automatically use appropriate names and colors. Arranger Section Types.mp4 Arranger templates Arranger templates are pre-defined song forms that store the order in which sections are arranged. You can think of an Arranger template as a map of an entire song. Arranger templates are global and can be used in several ways: Create a new Arranger track from a template. The template is applied to the Arranger track, which creates new sections. This is useful when starting a new song and you want to quickly create all Arranger sections for a typical song form that you can fill in with music. Insert sections in an existing Arranger track. Drag Arranger templates from the Media Browser and drop them in existing Arranger tracks. Sections in the template are inserted into the target track. Create a new arrangement. If your project already contains existing sections, you can use Arranger templates to create new arrangements from the existing sections. This allows you to preview your existing sections with different song forms. Sections that exist in the template but not in the project can be optionally created at the end of the project in the active Arranger track. Arranger Templates.mp4 Show and edit MIDI automation on Instrument tracks Instrument tracks can now show and edit MIDI automation. Previously, Instrument tracks only showed the automation available for the audio output section of the track. Now both MIDI and audio automation parameters can be set from the track’s Edit Filter. Classic Creative Suite audio effects The Classic Creative Suite is made up of powerful and easy to use Cakewalk effects including Alias Factor, Classic Phaser, Compressor/Gate, HF Exciter, Modfilter, Multivoice Chorus/Flanger, Para-Q, and Tempo Delay. Channel Tools plug-in The Channel Tools plug-in provides easy and powerful channel processing for gain, Mid-Side decoding, delay and stereo panning. Channel Tools is ideal for enhancing and adjusting stereo separation for stereo tracks and full mixes. New FX Chain presets Cakewalk includes many new FX Chain presets that use the new Classic Creative Suite and Channel Tools audio effects. Export to Standard MIDI File The File > Export > Standard MIDI File command lets you directly export the current project’s MIDI data to a Standard MIDI File. Enhancements Enhanced ‘Instrument Track Per Audio Output’ When inserting a multi-timbral soft synth, you can use the Instrument Track Per Output option in the Add Track menu and Insert Soft Synth Options dialog box to specify how many Instrument tracks to create. This allows you to have multiple Instrument tracks for a single instance of a synth. However, if you specify more output tracks than the synth supports, Cakewalk will now create additional synth instances as required. For example, adding 16 TTS-1 tracks will create 4 TTS-1 instances as the TTS-1 supports 4 audio outs per instance. Workspace enhancements ‘Apply Workspace on Project Load’ option When using a workspace, you can now specify if the active workspace should be automatically applied when loading projects. This is specified with the Apply Workspace on Project Load option in the Workspaces menu. The Apply Workspace on Project Load option is disabled by default. When enabled, the active workspace is always applied to an opened project. When disabled, projects load with their saved window layout, even when a workspace is active. To apply the active workspace, re-select the workspace form the Workspaces menu. Track view View and Options menu settings are not saved in workspaces The Track view View and Options menu settings are global, and no longer saved in screensets or workspaces. This change prevents global settings from being overwritten when applying a workspace. Ripple Edit affects Arranger section move/copy operations The Ripple Edit setting is respected when moving and copying Arranger sections. Auto Crossfades is applied to Section Split/Arrangement Commit Section operations now respect the Auto Crossfade enable in the Track view. Section Split and Commit Arrangement operations will now have crossfades applied when enabled. Option to center Now Time when zooming with the keyboard The Track view Options menu has a new Center on Now Time with Keyboard Zoom option that centers the Now Time when zooming with keyboard shortcuts (CTRL+LEFT ARROW and CTRL+RIGHT ARROW). Key binding to open soft synth on current track A new key binding named Open Soft Synth on Current Track allows you to open the soft synth UI on the focused Instrument track. You can assign the key binding in Edit > Preferences > Customization - Keyboard Shortcuts (under Area: Global Bindings). Improved loading of synth data Loading soft synths is now a two step process: first the plug-in is loaded, then its content is loaded (samples, etc.). A new toast notification shows the loading status. Enhancements to Duplicate Selected Clip(s) command The Duplicate Selected Clip(s) command now respects the selection when duplicating instead of reverting to clip size. It also no longer sets the Now Time during playback. Toggle Clip Gain edit filter You can quickly toggle between Track Volume and the last/previously shown data type on the current track. To do so, press the = key. This only works on the current parent track, not in Automation lanes. To toggle between Clip Gain and the last/previously shown data type on the current track, press SHIFT+=. Improved handling of temporary removal of control surfaces Cakewalk now better handles the temporary removal of devices related to connected/configured control surfaces. If the MIDI input or output ports are not available, the control surface is now disabled. The control surface name will be shown in parentheses and any missing ports will be shown as -- None --. Regardless of whether MIDI ports have been remapped or not as a result of adding or removing MIDI devices, only user changes to the control surface setup will be saved. Unchanged control surfaces will retain their original settings. Therefore, if a MIDI port is unavailable and the ports are shown as -- None --, as long as this surface is left unchanged, it will automatically restore its previous settings the next time Cakewalk is restarted with the MIDI device available. ALT+drag in time ruler to select both tracks and buses By default, making a time selection by dragging in the time ruler only selects tracks. To select both tracks and buses, hold down the ALT key while dragging in the time ruler. ‘Split MIDI Notes’ and ‘Non-Destructive MIDI Editing’ options in MIDI menu The Non-Destructive MIDI Editing and Split MIDI Notes options that are found in the Edit > Preferences > Customization - Editing dialog box impact Arranger track editing, so we have made them more accessible by also adding them to the Track view MIDI menu: Non-Destructive MIDI Editing. Select this option to make all MIDI editing non-destructive. When toggled on, this option forces deleted data to be retained even though it is not visible. When you split or crop clips, the old MIDI events are still there but they're hidden. So you can extend the ends of the clips to reveal the MIDI events again. If this is turned off, you lose those events when you split. In most cases you should leave this option enabled. Split MIDI Notes. Select this option to split any underlying MIDI notes when you split clips, and insert MIDI chase events (such as continuous controllers, Pitch Wheel, and Patch Change) at the split position. The advantage of this is that you don’t get lost notes when copy/pasting or cut/pasting notes that start just before the split point. The disadvantage of this is that if you extend the clip ends, as the note has now been split, it will be retriggered at the split point. The menu commands are also available as key bindings. You can assign the key binding in Edit > Preferences > Customization - Keyboard Shortcuts (under Area: Track View). Add Track menu now supports plug-in layouts The Add Track window’s menu now supports the use of plug-in layouts. The Plug-in Browser and Add Track menu display the same layout. Copy and assign automation envelopes Copy and Assign Envelope is now available via the context menu for envelopes to facilitate copying an existing envelope and assigning it to a different parameter. Staff view respects global Snap to Grid settings The Staff view respects the global Snap to Grid settings for note positioning when drawing notes. Optimizations Improved scrolling in the Track view with Snap to Landmark Events enabled. This fixes a reported issue where Snap to Landmarks with AudioSnap transients was causing scrolling to become sluggish. Bug fixes Stability Crash attempting to rename drum map note in Piano Roll view Crash when attempting to duplicate Instrument track Crash when closing Cakewalk with Arranger context menu open Crash when re-doing a Copy after undoing a Create Section Crash when applying arrangement in project Crash importing MIDI file to project iZotope Iris crashes if the project sample rate differs from the default sample rate Automation Bus automation deleted when dragging Arranger section if no clips present Automation for multiple instances of a plug-in delete unexpectedly MIDI automation does not update slider on Instrument track lanes Custom Automation lane names are easily lost Copying clips with envelopes creates extra envelopes on Instrument tracks Ability to toggle between Clips and Clip Gain envelope on active track Bus Envelope being copied to tracks on Cut/Paste Paste from bus envelopes go to synth envelopes unexpectedly UI Ripple Edit button status incorrect when opening template Piano Roll view Snap button does not have tooltip Export as MIDI defaults to .cwp file extension Selected buses should give clearer indication of selection Scrolling in Clips pane is sluggish with Snap to Transients enabled Current tab in Multidock does not persist Allow for background colors in Synth Rack Change text for "Move Checked Devices to top" button in Preferences > MIDI - Devices to specify outputs Arranger If selection does not include audio, automation is not moved with sections Arranger Preview should not be impacted by Stop at Project End Arranger Sections not rippling properly when moving clips with Ripple Edit set to ALL Ensure only MIDI tracks are having trim applied after splitting notes in arranger commands Dragging audio to extract tempo broken by Arranger code Not possible to drag multiple sections that are lasso selected Section events do not move/copy if the selection only contains long MIDI notes outwith the selection extent Clicking on project end icon in control bar doesn't include sections Update section selection on Project Selection Extent change Creating new section should snap to nearby section or time boundary Inconsistent behavior between section selection move and single section move Disable Autosave triggering during Commit Arrangement Show onboarding text in Arrangements inspector Commit arrangement should auto-crossfade if Auto Crossfade is enabled Misc. We're not hiding anything. BandLab acquired the intellectual rights for Cakewalk properties, and chooses to provide it free to users. It's the same core application that was being sold as SONAR Platinum previously, no nefarious changes, just continued active development. Just because an application is free does not mean it has to be open source. We put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into the application, and that has value, whether the app is being sold or not.28 points

We'd love for you to check it out before we drop the official public version, which should be in roughly a week. This time we're also providing an easy rollback installer should you need to quickly revert to the last public release for any reason. Please note that Early Access installers are update installers, which only update from a specific version. To install the 2020.04 Early Access build, you must be on the latest public release of 2020.01. Download Cakewalk 2020.04 EA installer Should you need to revert to the 2020.01 release, you can download the Cakewalk 2020.01 Rollback installer. If you haven't already done so, please read about the Early Access Program before participating. Thanks again for your participation! The Bakers 2020.04 Highlights Behavior changes Add Track menu behavior change: The behavior of the Track(s) counter has changed when inserting a multi-timbral soft synth via the Add Track menu. When Instrument Track Per Output or Split Instrument Track is selected, the Track(s) counter now specifies how many Instrument output tracks to create instead of how many unique instances of the synth to create. Changes to Delete Track: CTRL+DELETE deletes tracks. Delete Track only deletes the focused track if the focused track is not also selected. When a combination of tracks and track folders are selected, the context menu displays Delete Selected Tracks and Folders. Enable/Disable Enhanced Keyboard Editing Mode shortcut is unassigned by default. The default keyboard shortcut (0 on the numeric keypad) to enable/disable Enhanced Keyboard Editing Mode has been removed. To enable/disable Enhanced Keyboard Editing Mode, go to Edit > Preferences > Customization - Keyboard Shortcuts and assign Enhanced Keyboard Editing to an unused keyboard shortcut. Bypass All Audio Effects shortcut is unassigned by default. The default keyboard shortcut (E) to bypass all audio effects has been removed. To bypass all audio effect, do one of the following: Go to Edit > Preferences > Customization - Keyboard Shortcuts and assign Bypass All Audio Effects to an unused keyboard shortcut. Click the Bypass all Effects button in the Control Bar’s Mix module. Horizontal zooming no longer centers Now Time. When zooming with the mouse wheel or CTRL+LEFT/RIGHT ARROW shortcuts, if the Now Time is currently within view, its position will be retained while zooming. If the Now Time is not present in the view, the zoom behavior is unchanged. CTRL+ALT+SPACEBAR is assigned to Preview current arrangement from the Now Time, and no longer plays the next event in the Event List view. Arranger Track Overview The Arranger track is an arrangement tool that provides several workflow benefits: Easily rearrange sections of the entire project as one unit instead of moving individual clips. For example, instantly swap the positions of the first and second chorus for all tracks, or copy the first verse in order to double its duration. Experiment with different song structures in a non-destructive and non-linear manner. For example, does your song work best in AABA, ABAB, or ABAC song form? Define time range sections and sequence them in any order without destructively moving any clip data. You can even save multiple arrangements within each project. Create a color coded overview of the song structure, and use the Arranger Inspector to quickly navigate around the project and jump to song sections. Create arbitrary song sections anywhere on the project timeline, then later string them together for seamless playback. Sections provide an additional way to perform time based selections and edits of the project. Create an unlimited number of arrangements per project, which can all be exported simultaneously. Arranger functionality is distributed across two views: Arranger track. To show or hide the Arranger track, click the Track view View menu and choose Arranger Show/Hide, or press A. The Arranger track timeline shows all defined sections. You can drag to create and rearrange sections, then freely move them along the timeline. Any changes in the Arranger timeline are immediately reflected in the Arranger Inspector’s Sections list, and vice versa. Arranger Inspector. To show/hide the Arranger Inspector, click the Show/Hide Arranger button at the top of the Inspector pane, or press ALT+SHIFT+I. For details about using the Arranger Track, see the attached PDF : Arranger Track.pdf An arrangement is comprised of Sections, each spanning a unique time range. Other section properties include name and color, to clearly delineate regions of time and track content by musical function. Important: By default, clicking an Arranger section also selects underlying track events. Clicking again deselects track events, while retaining selection of the section. This behavior allows you to easily determine whether or not track events are included in section edit operations. Note that the selection highlight in the Clips pane indicates selected track events. To disable automatic selection of track events when selecting sections, right-click in the Arranger track timeline and disable Select Events with Sections. Arranger Inspector Sections are the building blocks that make up the song. Each section defines a time range in the project, such as Intro, Verse, Chorus, etc. An arrangement is an ordered set of sections. You can sort the sections in any order to define the playback order. To do so, drag the sections from the Sections area down to the Arrangements area in the Arranger Inspector. The Sections area lists all the arranger sections defined in the project’s timeline, from which a custom arrangement can be built. The order of the sections reflect the order in which they appear in the timeline. The Sections list provides an additional way to edit time based selections of the project. Any operation performed in the Sections list is immediately reflected in the project/timeline, and vice versa. To copy all sections to the current arrangement, click the Add All Sections to Arrangement button . If one or more sections are selected, only the selected sections will be copied. The Arrangements area allows you to sequence sections in a non-linear manner without destructively moving any clip data, regardless of which order they appear in the project’s timeline. Defining sections of your song To use the Arranger track, you must first define time range sections such as Intro, Verse, Chorus, etc. Sections can be of any duration, but it is common to start/end them at measure boundaries. New sections can be created by any of the following means: Draw a range within the Arranger track timeline (below the time ruler). Double-click a blank area in the Arranger track. The new section duration is inherited from the last clicked section. Right-click in the Arranger track timeline and select Insert Section Here, Insert Section at Now Time, Span Sections, or From Selection. Click the Add Section button in the Arranger Inspector or Arranger track. Editing sections Drag sections to move them around on the timeline. Drag a section edge to resize the section. Right-click a section to access edit option. Converting markers to sections To convert markers to sections, make a time selection in the time ruler that spans the text markers, then right-click in the time ruler and select Create Sections from Markers. Creating a custom arrangement Sections can be sequenced in any order to create arrangements, without affecting project data. The sections don’t have to live on the project timeline in any specific location or order, because the arrangement determines in which order they are played back. To define the section playback order, drag sections from the Sections list down to the Arrangements list. You can also drag sections directly from the Arranger track. Previewing an arrangement To play the current arrangement, click the Preview button or press ALT+SPACEBAR. During Arranger preview, the main transport Play button shows a small “A” icon to indicate it is playing back an arrangement instead of following the project’s linear timeline, and the active section shows a progress indicator. Committing an arrangement To (destructively) render the current arrangement to the project’s timeline, click the Commit Arrangement to Project button . Exporting arrangements You can export one or more arrangements without first having to render it to the timeline. To do so, click the Arrangements menu and select Export as Audio. ProChannel module presets In addition to saving presets of the entire ProChannel chain (all modules), you can also save and load presets of individual modules. The per module preset controls are located on the left side of each module header bar. To select a module preset Click the module’s category type icon to open the preset menu, then select the desired preset. The category type icon tooltip shows the name of the selected preset. To save a module preset Adjust the ProChannel module controls to the desired settings. Click the module’s category type icon to open the preset menu, then select Save Preset. Type a name in the Save Preset dialog box, then click OK. To select the next preset To select the next preset, do one of the following: Click the Next Preset button . Hold down the CTRL key and click the module’s category type icon. To select the previous preset To select the previous preset, do one of the following: Click the Previous Preset button . Hold down CTRL+SHIFT and click the module’s category type icon. To delete a module preset Click the module’s category type icon to open the preset menu, then select the preset you want to delete. Click the module’s category type icon to open the preset menu again, then select Delete Preset. Copy/paste settings between ProChannel modules You can copy settings from any ProChannel module and paste the settings to any other instance of the same module. on any track or bus. There are two ways to copy/paste settings between identical modules: Drag and drop In the Console view, show the ProChannel for both the track/bus you want to copy from, and the track/bus you want to paste into. Hold down the CTRL key, and drag from the source module’s header bar (i.e., the module title) to the target module. The source and target ProChannel modules must be identical. Note: If the target module has not been enabled/initialized yet, it will automatically become enabled after pasting. However, if the target modules has been manually disabled, then it will remain disabled after pasting. Copy/Paste menu commands Click the source module’s category type icon to open its preset menu, then select Copy Settings. Click the target module’s category type icon to open its preset menu, then select Paste Settings. Append per-output Instrument tracks When you insert a multi-timbral soft synth, you can specify how many Instrument output tracks to create, up to the maximum supported by the synth. If you do not initially create the maximum number of available output tracks, you can later add additional tracks on demand from the Synth Rack view. To do so, do one of the following: Right-click the instrument in the Synth Rack (Views > Synth Rack View) and select Append Instrument Track. Right-click the instrument track strip in the Track view and select Append Instrument Track. Note: If you originally created used per-output Instrument tracks for that synth, then Cakewalk will create another per-output instrument track. If originally created split instrument tracks, then Cakewalk will create another split instrument track. Misc. enhancements The Display Clip Fade Attenuation option in Edit > Preferences > Customization - Display is now available as a key binding. Audio Driver Mode now changes immediately instead of waiting for Apply click. Updated to latest VST3 SDK, which includes VST bug fixes.
