latency and stereo issue

kyrillos

Question

Good day every body.
am not sure whats wrong i am doing. i can hear from both sides of head set and in cakewalk settings its stereo but i see only one line after recording Capture.JPG.a5037ea4152f822f38f9d5b0a4c7b528.JPG

also when i record i hear latency ( i record my instrument on a track music) and after recording the latency gap increases and i have to adjust the recorded track and slide it till the correct position

my computer specifications are:
Processor Intel (R) Core (TM) i5-3330 CPU @ 3.00GHZ     3.00  GHZ

Installed ram 8.00 GB

Hard disk HDD 1 TB

upgraded from win 8 to win 10

looks like a track where the interface was receiving a signal in one channel and the track in the DAW was set to record two channels. The track input should have been set to record the left channel only. This may be corrected by

  • selecting the track
  • selecting Bounce to Track(s) from the Tracks menu in the track view
  • setting the "Channel Format" to "Split Mono" in the Bounce To Track(s) dialog and click OK then
  • adjust the pan in the left side track and deleting the silent and original tracks.

WRT latency, it seems odd the driver has such a difference between input and output latency. The total round trip latency is too high to effectively monitor through the DAW. Usually to effectively monitor through the DAW an interface needs to be set to 128 samples or lower where both input an output latency are similar. At 128 samples the round trip latency @ 48kHz is around 5.4ms.

Thanks Scook for your reply, i was checking everyday if some one replies and its weird i saw it just now.

splitting mono worked great and i understand now the relation i should choose left channel because my interface has two channels.

about the latency what do u mean of samples and how can i adjust it?
i appreciate your help
