I hope this posting finds everyone healthy adjusting to our current circumstances. Here is a silly little song that hopefully might bring a little smile. It is a follow up to the a song down on my SoundClick song list somewhere simply called "Mangrove Sally". It is indeed a silly little love song in an unusual way. It is a bit raw, rough, and raunchy intentionally (I like it like that). Recently I watched a couple of Bio's on PBS. One was featuring Mississippi Fred McDowell and the other Leo "Bud" Welch. I was captivated by the fact that even though these were not schooled musicians and that the footage and sound were primitive they really captured a feeling and sounded cool. As I am want to do, I tried to do something that might capture this and as happens too often ---- well, I may have missed the mark. Anyway, this is my attempt at stripped down, primitive Blues. [Previously posted in the Coffee House forum] I wrote this song for a friend to sing, she's got a great voice but for reasons I won't get into she is unable to work on it at this time. I wrote it with a bluesy female vocalist in mind, plus if anyone has ever heard me sing, you'll know I prefer working with vocalists. 😉 If you are (or know anyone that you can recommend) please let me know. I posted the song below. It's a rough draft, and the lyrics have been updated since I originally recorded it.
