I know I can just drag off midi sections to the media browser. I suspect this can be done with audio as well ??

This would be handy for some things.

When I was looking for plant stakes the other day my wife told me the veggie burgers are in the freezer.

When the WHO got their Covid report it didn't really answer their questions. But you know what they said, "Won't get fooled again".

Sometimes in the summer my friends go down to the water & jam for a while. Some of them play wind instruments so of course there is always sax on the beach.

I tried a few others but they never felt comfortable to me. It always felt like trying to walk through a 2 foot mud pile. But then again I've been using cakewalk for 30 years.

Not a pun but:
Remember that Dave Barry says never take a laxative & a sleeping pill on the same night.

I kind of remember reading somewhere that on playback if your meter occasionally dips into the red that it not so bad. Is this correct or has my memory really gone ?
Should I be setting things so that I never see red ?
(Again - only on playback not on recording)

I took a break from music today and read my camera manual, but I got tired & lost my focus.

So we have inadvertently raised a thread from the dead.
Interesting comments though.

I use Normalize so much I have a shortcut key for it. Great for vocals - helps to even it out without the oppressive feel of a compressor.
Also great for making changes to small portions of a track where you don't want the hassle of an automation.

The cakewalk police have finally caught up with me. Yup too many open soft synth's.
They walked right up looked over my shoulder at the monitor and said "alright - FREEZE"

I'd saved this one particular song as a bundle. That opened fine but I'm still concerned about some older projects. Thanks for the tips above.
Bundles yes I forgot about that option. That is my standard method of backup.

I have 30 year old projects - sometimes they do not do well. Does it load but then crashes on play ? That is what usually happens to me.
Try one of these:
1) My favorite trick is to copy all the tracks one by one to a new file. If it loads but does not play.
2) Save without any plug ins in earlier version
3) Save as a MIDI file in earlier version.

I have had problems on a less robust computer while playing too many notes or playing too fast with some soft synth's . How old is your machine ?

Actually not a new user, just got used to never having to change the workspace before.

I am sorry I used the wrong term I meant to say Control bar - see the revised post above.

I installed a new instance of cakewalk on a new machine. One problem is that the
consolecontrol bar setup keeps reverting back to a selection of modules other than what I choose. Is there a setting that will preserve my setup ?

When I went to buy a new car there was a line in the paperwork that made it so the deal fell through. But I guess there's no point in losing sleep over a lost clause.

Did you know that when you have the smart tool enabled you can right click and drag to select notes without have to change tools ?
(A bit of a timesaver sometimes)

I think we've got Ghosts in the house. I say if we get Oda Mae Brown between us and the Ghosts that would be a Whoopie cushion.
