If you are looking for very high quality, you can safely cross Simple Monsters off your list.

And put Dehumanizer 2 on my list, as yeah for something like this I'd definitely prefer the highest possible quality. Thanks for the tip as I do like this kind of thing.

There's a free demo.  This is a lot of fun, but of course it helps if you have a silly YouTube channel like me that will give you a reason to use it.

Post a link to you using it and maybe I can get a better idea outside of demoing it.

You do realize that even for that build, the GPU is probably the least important factor, unless you need to render in 3D. 😉

What do you mean? I don't game much, though I might, but I do intend to do heavy video editing plus I'm getting like nine 4tb drives. Just kidding about that many drives, but this daw will be as much a video editing daw as, well, a daw daw lol. This will also be my last build for the next maybe 8 years. What's wrong with getting a super powerful GPU for all that?

  4. But this particular card in the first post hasn't been marked down by that much yet.. I expected a larger markdown. This is the card I was after and it hasn't been marked down at all yet ASUS ROG Strix NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti V2 OC Edition Gaming Graphics Card (PCIe 4.0, 8GB GDDR6, LHR, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4a, Axial-tech Fan Design, 2.9-slot, Super Alloy Power II, GPU Tweak II) https://a.co/d/eDiwiOE

  5. I'm actually in the market for this higher end card, as I'm in the process of slowly building a mega daw where every component is around ~$450-600. It will take  me about 8 months to collect all the parts and I was going to buy the graphics card last (I also mess with video, so I wanted a higher end card) because of the price fluctuation that happens w/ graphics cards and availability. I read a news tip recently that yeah the 3060 as well as the other 30xx cards were going to be marked down by a lot in September '22 to make way for the 40xx line. Dang, maybe I should go for a 3080ti..

but I then noticed the settings had a tendency to reset by themselves , often without warning. This is especially frustrating if you get a nice sounds but didn't save the settings. Also the touch is very erratic. If you are looking for consistency, they are not yet there.

They should be there for $139!

I find at least as much value in your (Christian's) threads where people share their insights on libraries and plugins they love as a deals thread

I appreciate that man. Those threads I made are a couple of 'one-offs' though I'm afraid. I posted them because I considered the content deal-related and I intended to drop some coin on the results/sales this weekend.  And people are reading thinking "no way Christian measures up to King Lar." Actually, I'd say I'm even more respected, because when Lar leaves.. he can't be gone for half a day before people here are on his case, whereas with me.. when I leave for weeks or even months at a time, no one bothers me at all.. no one reaches out, no one posts about me.. they just pretend like they don't even notice I'm gone.. just how I like it 🙂   ibtl

  8. I will say though that there's no way that I'd do what King Lar did without affiliate links. He just did so much you have to wonder how many hours of his time and day that took.. and he gets nothing for that? I think that's why he got so pissed at those two dudes that were disagreeing with them. I watched that whole thing go down; objectively speaking, it wasn't that bad.. I wouldn't say they were trolling him per se, but they were definitely disagreeing with him--and the disagreements weren't completely out of line either--but one guy was sort of following him around over the course of a day or two and disagreeing with him on various stuff. And considering that Lar made no money doing what he did.. I think he just got mad and bailed, and I don't think he's coming back this time either. Maybe that was the straw that broke the camel but probably there was something else going on too.. there almost always is. People are so complicated ibtl

I don't know if anyone remembers, but the "Deals" forum wasn't always a Coffee house sub-forum.

The mods moved it there at some point after some bad behavior had occurred. Don't recall the details, but the Coffee House is technically the "off-topic"section here. And Larry always proudly stated that he never "goes upstairs". :)

    ibtl

    do recall that actually, ibtl

If you recall, we had to lobby to create this sub forum in the wake of the Cakewalk demise, now I wouldn't be surprised if it is just removed if it dies any more - it really doesn't have anything to do with Cakewalk

It's ok if the Coffee House doesn't have to do with Cakewalk 100% of the time. Every forum I know of out there has an 'off topic' section. Lar was the biggest sole contributor here and the best at what he did no doubt, especially considering his lack of affiliates -- and not that this is gonna happen, but if this forum got shut down over one person's absence that would be the ultimate insult to all the members who hang and contribute here. This forum/sub forum ain't going anywhere, ibtl

Since 2015/2016 I have only been here (and the old forum) for the Deals, the deals, the deals and only the deals.

Interesting.. I'm largely here for the deals, the Deals, the deals and the deals myself.

The curator is you, you search what you want, and get only what you want, of course if you don't know what you want, then . . . I guess, you'll be forever in the grasp of The GAS

    e77579fff0880e26f0188f95742807ec?impolic

[edit] and by search I don't mean scrolling through endless lists and pages, I mean type it in the search box, or put a tick in a box, and BAMM!!!

    come home to daddy.

But Fleer don't want to "curate." I believe what he wants is something closer to concierge amirite?

But it's not always about finding deals on specific stuff you want. What if I don't know that I want anything at all? I can't tell you how many times I just randomly decided to look on the Cakewalk deals forum after not having done so for weeks, and saw a deal that I wasn't even thinking about -- didn't know what it even *was* until I looked further into the thread and then said "oh yeah actually that'd be cool to have." It's like I go to the grocery store, and I don't plan to eat anything while I'm in there, but there's some guy giving out toothpick samples of prime rib he just grilled up and I'm like "actually yeah dude hook it up," but I didn't go there expecting that. That's what I like about the Cakewalk Deals. You don't know what you want until you see it; I see it.. I need it.

Plus, I'm a Cakewalk lifer since Pro 8, so I *want* to be here. I'm also a Duped Lifer as I bought in to the "Lifetime Updates" final grift that Roland or whoever it was got me for.

Acoustic Samples' Wurli also has as a wonderful tone and is a very close second. The only downside of their Wurli is that there are no presets so that you have to dial in your sounds from scratch and then save them in a separate folder. I don't own Acoustic Samples' new VReeds, but I'm very intrigued.

Yeah I believe that new VReeds wurli is mostly modeled too. I think the library's whole footprint is just 70+ MB.

  14. After checking reviews on YouTube anyway I think the SC Broken Wurli is best for me. I have the advantage of not having a particular sound in mind that I'm trying to achieve, but rather I'm just looking for what my ear likes the best and I like that fat grimy sound of broken wurli.

I've seen some other folks heavily recommending the VReeds wurli by Acoustic Samples I think it is. I checked it out on Tube and it sounds good, but broken wurli is where it's in my case.

This sounds like a VI Control thread.  Isn't NI Una Corda one of these.  Anyone can take a piano library and add effects to create some sound design.

My favorite pianos are no longer about sound but loading time. I've come to the conclusions that unless you are doing something piano exclusive I'm not going to drive myself crazy over selecting a piano.

I'm not into sound design (nor am I talking about a run of the mill type of piano this time). That's the reason I think many people buy synth after synth after synth; it's not that they don't have a dozen+ other synths and plugins that can do any given sound if they're willing to spend time sound designing it; it's that [some new synth here] already does that sound. Some people dig sitting there for hours and hours fiddling w/ sounds before they even get to the making music part, and maybe they never get there. But those people are invaluable because they make the sounds that people like me, who don't wanna fiddle all day, use to make music. I'm actually a guitar/bass player who just happens to mess with a daw and plugins. I'll buy a synth just for one sound it has, and I'll keep it around even if it doesn't have any other sounds I like in the whole instrument. Like w/ Shipwreck pianos, sure I can layer a string/choir sound over some piano I have but I didn't ask about that.
