Great instrument. For the record, the intro price I paid in December was $39.99. I don't know if that was the standard price or whether it was discounted because of all the other Audiofier stuff I have. But I think it was the standard price.

DISCOVER is 200 Mb and loads up all the sections of the orchestra. You choose what you want by selecting one of the colored areas where the musicians are typically seated on a stage. Once you do that, you get further opportunities to refine the sound. In this example above, you can choose violin articulations, but with tuned percussion it is different instruments. To my knowledge this is the first product Spitfire has ever done that looks like it is aimed at the consumer market. EZOrchestra. A pro doesn't need to be told that the violins are the "focal point of the orchestra." A kid who wants to begin learning does. That said it may be a really great sketching library. I don't think this is free. I think it is going to be a cash cow for them intended to open up an entirely new market. . They sell strings, woods, brass, percussion for 29 euros each. So I'm thing this will sell for around 99 euros. Whatever it is, there will likely be an intro price. It will also layer well with all their 29 euro libraries.

The announcement is coming today at 4 pm GMT, which I think is noon my time (NYC), but the VI:Control rumor mill is buzzing. It seems like this will be all or mainly about new versions of BBCSO. BBCSO CORE - Limited edition of BBCSO, probably one mic. 20+ GB or so, as opposed to the 556 GB download of the full library. So figure this will be a lot cheaper. Maybe something to compete with the Inspires? If you already have the full version, you get this too. Wonder what it will cost? BBCSO DISCOVER - This is really small (200 Mb), so the question is, will it be supercheap or a cloud subscription or what? 99 euros? Or free? But I think this will be a way for a young composer to get into symphonic composition with either no or very little expense, which would explain its name. There's also something called SYMPHONIC MOTIONS, which sounds like something like the Spitfire Evos or the Orchestral Tools Time libraries, probably done with the BBC orchestra. There is more chatter on this thread if you can't wait for the official announcement. People are already downloading this thing, so either Spitfire has botched the announcement or they are playing people to get even more attention to this. No matter what this is, it will change your life forever, or at least until Spitfire starts hyping a new product.

I keep searching for a good reason to update Reason. I never used it as a DAW. I just liked jamming with the instruments in it. My favorite piano was in Reason. I used to connect it with ReWire, which was a pain in the *****. But now... I feel like every instrument they have I can find something as good or better elsewhere. Drums? Synths? World instruments? Choirs? Likewise for effects, even MIDI effects. I have great plugins these days. Reason is an amazing deal for somebody who is starting out and doesn't have all that stuff. I played it since version 2 and upgraded until 8. I was big enough a fan to go to a few Propellerhead events in NYC. There is a kind of nostalgia that makes me want it in the rack in Cubase. I'll be more interested once Komplete Kontrol and VE Pro can handle VST3s.

But it looks like I probably should avoid installing this "free gift" because it might interfere with this stuff I already have. I do have a decent titler program TitlerPro.

SoundBetter SoundWorse. Clare Solo is really great. Isn't that called Ethera? I don't know which library offhand but there are a ton of Enyaesque things in Clara Sorace's vocals and phrases. I think it is the first one, though. Combine it Tarilonte's Celtic ERA. There is also the Celtia voice in Tari's Vocal Codex, but I don't own that, so can't say.

Spitfire gives away lots of excellent instruments for FREE and they have started up a new series of $29 instruments. So there's that. Then they offer Academic Discounts, have two sales each year that are generally 40% off, and then occasional deals for 50% off, and one at the end of the year that bundles three libraries for $100. They are always messing with their pricing so get ready for some new kinds of sales in the future. Maybe on May 7th? 😀 For me, they are the most inexpensive company in the business because I am almost certain I will never buy anything more from them at any price, even $29. For numerous reasons that have nothing to do with my respect for the quality of what they do. I love the ones I own. They make beautiful libraries that I don't need going forward with my music.

They have among the best customer service in the business. No question about that.

By the way, may main critique of AAS is the way they handle NKS, which is awful. You should be able to load up Ultra Analog and then search for all the bass sounds, because each one is tagged. Unlike all the other companies, they list each expansion as a separate instrument, so if you're looking for something you have to load each of them one by one and search the tags within it it. It also means you have to search through three dozen or more libraries, when they only have three instruments. Imagine if every Massive expansion worked like that? This is absolutely ridiculous way to go about things. And it is the main reason why I don't use my AAS instruments as often as I do others, because it is so incredibly difficult to find my favorite patches. I like the sounds but they make it too much work. I understand the reason. Each expansion is both an expansion for the synth and an expansion for the player. The solution is simple. Let the customer download the version they want. I own player versions of Ultra Analog-3 libraries. If I upgrade to Ultra-Analog 3, I could go and download the other one. If it's too complicated, just make it available to people who care about such things. Don't forget that you don't need to even own any keyboard controller to search tags on Komplete Kontrol. You can do it with your the arrow buttons on your computer keyboard. You'll hear all the demo sounds too. I've always wanted to make a video on using the Freelance Soundlabs NKS. I will have time in June, so I'll do it then. I'll write my contact at AAS then and show them exactly what I mean.

Hey! It's a bad idea to kick a frog's AAS. Are you saying that you have gotten an upgrade to a version 3 for less than $39? Because throwing in an expansion or two (like this deal) to that doesn't improve the deal for me. AAS has given away a total of dozens of expansions over the last year or two. Or done it for a few bucks: Stack Social; Humble Bundle; many times at T+S; Plugin Boutique; the yearly Christmas gift. There have been others. And each free or cheap expansion one can be traded in for a brand new one, which my contact at AAS has always been happy to do. I have so many duplicates I don't even bother to pick up more. I trade in every time there are three new ones I want, so as not to bug him too often. But when I asked him once for a discount on an upgrade, he just gave me the usual price. So has your contact at AAS given you a price for any upgrade or upgrades lower than the sales price offered to anybody? If so, then I will accept that there is anti-frog prejudice at AAS, which is too bad, because I have been a long time customer who actually bought a lot of their expansions at full price, before the free-for-all began. 🐸

Since I got Unify I've found more use for the MIDI apps I own. For one thing it's a lot easier to set them up and it's fun to be able to create patches and multis with them. I've noticed that a lot of them are going on sale these days. And I think that they have their eye on the May 27th release of Scaler 2. IMHO Scaler 2 will be a game-changing insta-buy no-brainer.

Kicks and Snares is the first AAS expansion they've ever brought out that I don't want. I just don't have any need for more kicks and snares. 😀 Like most of you, I have a ton of duplicate libraries that can be swapped for new ones, but I'm not going to use one for that. While AAS often offers giveaways of their expansions, the one thing that AAS has yet to discount are their instrument upgrades. Even when I've emailed them about that, the answer has been no. So I'm waiting for the inevitable release of Strum GS-3, to see what the upgrade will be for that and String Studio VS-2 and Ultra Analog VA-2.

The New Studio Sopranos is one of my favorite 8dio libraries.

Studying this deal a little more. Little PrimalTap, Little MicroShift are no loss, because they are just limited editions of the big ones. And got Little Plate for free. The exception is Little AlterBoy. That's the only Soundtoy of significance that's not in the rack. And then, looking forward to further additions to Soundtoys, and Soundtoys 6, maybe it's better to wait for BF.

For Albion Legacy owners this is just sounds you already own in a new player. So it makes sense that it 's free. But as Albion ONE owners, this is content we don't have, at least not all of it. They don't sell it any more, and this seems like a fair price if you want it. And it's a great deal for people who don't have orchestral libraries and don't mind the player.

My last two BF upgrade offers to the full was about $160. So I don't think the full offer makes sense, even though I could sell stuff. Do you think I could sell separate plugins after buying the Rack for $99?

Thanks. I would imagine that the rack doesn't take a lot of CPU, so that's not a huge deal. What do you mean by "off all my singles"? Can you resell single Soundtoy plugs if you used them to get a lower upgrade price?
