A VST3 Shell is also what Waves uses for all of it's plugins. That behavior is normal. CbB has to check them at at every scan, otherwise there is no way to know what plugins may have changed in the Shell since the last scan.

You can completely disable CbB plugin scans at startup if you wish. If the plugins are working fine in CbB, then there is no problem.

Not possible for GAS infected family 😛

We are constantly adding new ones and updating zylion of already owned :)

I am not little disgusted by their reaction. It seems like 'not a big deal', don't worry,...

It is kind of elementary training about phishing email sent from domains not related to sender company domain like 'cmp.dotmailer.co.uk'

Grr...  They should instantly send new mail from legal domain with apologies and explanation to all receivers and take some prevention action...

Huh.   😮 Well, thanks! I just went in and changed my password again just in case.  Going to send support and email now!

If any doubts it is always to take an prevention action,

But theoretically it could be also a case where it would be a prove IT guy hired by SSL is completely amateur. Anyway SSL is not shining in this. I would say it is now hard to trust in their security awareness.  It is good to be careful about credits card data used. Better to use paypal option to pay.

Well, I got an email this a.m. to "Reset  Password", which I did, and which changed nothing...    🤔

Unfortunately it looks like kind a 'prove' (?) of theory SSL was hacked. Look at email address

impossible to log in the new website , and reseting password doesn't work .... anybody ? don't want to create a new account si,nce i already have stuff in old one !!

well, they totally messed it up... I had the same case but after some tries and readings I gave up and created account which in fact I already should have but they lost it...

I was buying from them on February. Now I have new account with exact the same name (!) as before but because it is new have now only 1 plugin there...

I don't believe they are so stupid (very diplomatically speaking ) so probably their data had been lost data like hackers attack or lame admin who didn't do backups. Or idiot devel who didn't know how to migrate data...

Anyway good news is all my iook registred ssl plugs still in ilok.

But of course app you needed to install on your PC doesn't say what is wrong with your PC but instead of it sending you to MS site with req to search for it manually? 🤣

  8. I hate they are doing this every time... Something which is similar to famous US or English or German something.... Are we kind of encyclopedia of world hardware? 😕

Why cannot they just do as other companies some phrase lie 'inspired by' or something. To give a clue what exact hardware is used not breaking any copyrights in the same time?

There is so little time for everything and such approach is so mean to put additional work to us...  We can rely only on some generous people who are familiar with hardware and doing kind of independent investigation what is what... Eh...

You really don't know how good or bad an amp sim is until you've tried it with your axe & rig.
I've found that guitar, pickup(s) used, audio interface/D.I., playing technique and gain staging prior to amp sim have a tremendous effect on how good or bad an amp sim plugin can sound.
The Line6 Amp Farm tones for example turn crappy if the level is hot where as with other sims that level is not hot enough.

Let me disagree a bit ;)  I am referring to comparison/judging  methodology.

Of course, all of these things have a big impact on the sound, but ... we were talking about the quality of the plugs, right? ;)  So including its workflow, presets, readiness to use just after loading.

Of course if one doesn't know how to play guitar, it would sound weak using plugins but also using real amps. If there's a plugin that can turn bad skills into good sound, it's a great plugin anyway ;)

If a person (hence the same skills), DI, guitar, etc. has very different quality scores, isn't that a sign of some underdevelopment of the plugin? Sure, you can use the dynamic multiband equalizer, trial and error check with different plugin settings, but the point is, that's the part the developer should do.

Do you prefer to use a plugin that sounds great right away, or do you have to fight its settings and maybe even improve its sound with other plugins?

I think almost any amp simulator can sound decent if a good skilled guitarist spends some time with its setup.  But each shoe can also be used for walking, and yet we can distinguish some as comfortable from the moment of purchase, and others that require 'spreading' in order to be comfortable. Many are looking good but after few weeks are losing its usability. But that tells us about the quality of the shoes.

If I have to sit and rummage in the plug-in settings to make it sound decent, then I would probably prefer to buy a more expensive one, but it will give me good results right away, because the developers did the job for me, so that the end product would not have any nuisance or sometimes workflow issues.

Sometimes developer if he is brave enough ;) can also exclude real thing issues (or make as switch on option) in plugin - the most obvious example button to switch on/off noise in many plugins simulating consoles. Nembrini went into right direction - they noticed probably their plugins had some harshness and added option to reduce it.  But still I am not quite happy with their plugins.  I don't trying to bash them. Just believe there is some work needed to improve. But as I said before (we don't have the same hearing so maybe I am oversensitive for some frequencies, who knows).

One disclaimer to what I said. Because of GAS I am buying probably many plugins which break what I have written but well... this is another story ;)

Anyway I believe we would like to have a plugin ready to use from start with all potential problems addressed by developer not pushing an issue to be solved by user :)

I have to say I was SO looking forward to the Vox. I didn’t see one negative review. Fortunately I tried the demo before pulling the trigger, because I couldn’t get it to sound halfway good. I felt I was in a minority of one! Just shows how subjective amp sims are.

True. It cannot be objective thing as we all are hearing and liking a little differently. Maybe for some guys some harshness somewhere is nothing bothering while for the others is something like a deal breaker.

The only objective comparison it could to be analyze and compare in exact way those harsh bands real amp against amp sim. If it is also at the same proportion hard to blame developer he wanted to be exact.

My personal feelings are many amps sims are adding harshness not encountered in real amp, though. But I can be wrong.  Anyway if for any reason I feel not quite ok with sound it has no point to buy and suffer. Nowadays we have so many options.

  11. I don't know. Maybe it is only me but I find their cabs sims pretty harsh.

I bought their Slo 100 v1 and v2 as kind of liked it but after STL Tones released their approach and especially NeuralDSP I just lost interested in it.

Any their sim I tried had the same issue. Cab sims were harsh so in fact I gave up after trial. What's funny they added even option to decreases harshness in their latest release but still I believe they should rather to redesign their cab sim.

Ik not yet catastrophic as PA ... selling stuff a 10 $ and people still don't buy ...

Zo, I see you are selling Plini. What happened? You were so happy with the plugin a while ago. Whta's is your current favorite? :)

  13. Some plugins producers or shops are giving kind of hidden deal if you put something into basket and left it without checkout for some days.

For instance I put PositiveGrid delays into basket but changed my mind (still price not temping for me even with current deals as I have alternatives and don't like PG too much for terrible support and bugs they don't want to repair).

After few days I got special voucher 10$ off what in fact made things about interesting.

It would be nice for all of us to be aware of such kind behavior of sellers and to know which ones are doing this and save even more.

Currently I would be happy if something like that happened on top to NI deals.

Thanks.  Good to know.  That's exactly what I'm looking for ... audio to MIDI.

Tell me more about gate-eq-melodyne (I have Melodyne Assistant).  Is there a resource you can point me to?

The idea behind is pretty simple. If you tried to use melodyne straight away with noisy or complex material you would have hard days to fix what melodyne detected.

So with help of gate you can separate only meaningful things over a threshold and EQ helps also to remove some things before gate to help it work more like expected (you can focus at some freq only for specific instrument selection and minimize influence of the rest not to trick gate because for instance other instruments are also present at a moment).

Also gate will help to decrease lengths of notes which for percusion and drums VSTi in most cases should as short as possible. Otherwise you will have to again struggle with fixing manually with a mess.

I'm interested in detecting and extracting the beats from recordings (not just from a drum track).  Would Trigger be able to do this?  Of course, if I bite, I'd wait until it gets down to $50.

Trigger is for drum replacement. So, for example, removing a snare and replacing it with a sample.

Actually there is an option MIDI capture in SS Trigger so you could set params to get rid of noise and unwanted sounds and drag and drop into MIDI track.

The same is true for Addictive Trigger with even more control for MIDI to be exported.

Although for this purpose combos like gate-eq-melodyne (or something similar) would be better suited.

  16. Well, they are so convinced about right price politics and keeping away from $29 deals.

It may be too late when they finally realize how much money they just lost and how many potential users they could gain (and thus a chance to popularize their plugins).

The cost of "making" another copy is almost 0. But well ... it's not my business what their annual income is. Maybe they figured it out well and they are happy. We will see ..

  17. This plugin requires Java??  😮

What a terrible idea of lazy developers...

    Well funny two neighbor lines:

An ASIO-compatible sound card recommended for optimal audio performance
    Java 1.8 JDK

Sure, sure, JDK for even better performance...

I would much rather pay $120 up front and be able to use my Slate Trigger 2 expansion packs with SSD.

Yep. It would be very welcome feature. For me lack of compatibility between those two SS products are essentially deal break for SSD...

I wrote to them a year ago about it but well... maybe if hundreds people supported this they would not ignore it.

I agree. What I did was probably way overkill. There is probably a more surgical approach to resetting the PreSonus Hub. I had to make it lose the plugin's  false "Activated" status, so I could activate them from scratch. Then all was good!

One part that I left out was that PreSonus Hub had been working fine, then it was zapped by a Windows Feature update somehow (think it may have been version 2004).

Maybe it was also thr case on my comp after Win update, not sure now (don't want to mess with disk with old versions just for sake of curiosity).
Anyway Presonus should struggle with it not users. But because it was a not paid gift so I am embarrassed yelling on them.

And you are probably perfectly right about my reasons. :)

I have many other soft alternatives, so if I have to be honest to myself it is pretty likely I wouldn't use it too much anyway.

  20. It is not bad offer even if someone is against subs for amps as it seems they are releasing new amp almost every month, so 10-15$ for  new amp model, sometimes plus new pedal. They sound very great.

But disadvantage is not every model can be liked or be needed by everyone.... So not every month payment brings something exciting unless you are ultimate collector who wants to have everything at once :)

Alternative is to buy what you like at their sales (usually 40% of).

Here are elements to be bought separately in normal pay model.

Little annoying right scrolling - another company who has no idea about workflow on webpages...
