  1. Sure, we can do many things manually and by ourselves, Carlos But - call me lazy and spoiled guy - I believe I have computer to do work instead of me not forcing me to do anything instead of it So every workflow issue, lazy design I consider as not-finished-job by creators (or job bad done No matter it is related to plugin, OS, DAW, WWW browser or whatever...
  2. To be honest I believe it is horrible rule and idea... Part of wider topic... I would like to keep all my plugin on different disk than OS one. All on the same one. Maybe even share it in future through Internet for my different locations (or in easier variant mobile one) to stop forcing me wasting lots of time for managing plugins in the same way on few my computers... Installing, updating, removing, whatever.. It is the same 'brilliancy' to force install application things on OS disk as long time ago assumption 1MB RAM is absolutely enough... And we were experiencing results of that design in very strange tricks in CPU architecture to keep everything like it was for old apps and provide more memory for new with additional mode of CPU... Good design is when OS disk is small, dedicated only for OS and application can be independent on OS filesystem and they do not interfere each other. Unfortunately many creators don't care and probably are not quite familiar with some good practices (like give user a choice ). For instance in my job I have seen apps which are using /tmp filesystem to keep there their data, quite usual example of a bad is when way growing app data is put directly put /var filesystem... etc... While these were Linux world examples they have many in common with designs for apps in Windows world... Mindless installers putting every possible version of plugin everywhere, forcing assumption there have to be installed AAX etc... Leaving lots of areas for not required interaction between OS and apps because of sharing resources where they shouldn't or there is a choice... Lots of still the same issues even after 10-15 years Often some manufacturers do hard and great work with what app is doing or GUI but completely ignore of reasonable design for data placement, installers, plugin management etc
  3. They are stimulate us to fill their survey out faster to have additional (or the only for 50/75 bad luckers) useful voucher so $25
  4. I reported problem very long ago to them, seems they do not care... Well, I do not even try to use their VST3 ... One of serious disadvantage of using VST3 (but again it is manufacturers fault) is in many installs we can pick directory to install for VST2 but not for VST3... So hard to keep plugins on other location than OS disk... using installers... But there are some who are preparing better their plugin for use, as well
  5. There is also another solution like dongle server which is letting to put dongle into device USB port and share it over network. Could provide many benefits over USB hub. Including use over Internet. https://www.pro-tools-expert.com/production-expert-1/2019/4/23/an-alternative-to-ilok-cloud-that-works-with-all-software-brands But I am never had a pleasure to see it in action live... Maybe somebody here is using similar thing?
  6. You can be sure there are many such things
  7. Frank, you can decide who you want to believe more... Forums or izotope itself

Seems Overloud RIGs have its competitor
  9. Yep, they are very kind. I had also great experience when after trial E27 EQ had doubts and wanted to have a word with them. And they plugins are still great sounding... But... on the other side, we have now 2020, they could be less shy about extending possibilities of their plugins and upgrading them. I really like Overloud GEM approach (but still sometimes Overloud is also too shy Manufactures are sometimes too shy about expanding their plugins beyond any limits (plugins are not hardware and can do in fact any processing possible). My dream is to have in each emu plugin kind of an option to switch to kind of modern GUI where workflow is extremely tuned with all modern tools like graphs, analyzers etc... Maybe FabFilter-like interface option? Something little similar to Melda approach or DMG... Why 1176 cannot have option to switch to modern GUI with graph, all possible options and tools for compressors still keeping its sound? But for all people who learned workflow with real hardware still keeping option to switch to GUI which mimics original hardware behavior... I get it completely how important is ( I am not snake oil guy to keep GUI just like hardware with all knobs and behavior... Learning curve for people who used to use hardware is absolutely minimal... But for people working all the time only in box... well... It is often strange, too complicated (like opposite direction for knob in 1176 and not needed... If I had plugin company I would go for it... Just one switch and compressor still sounds the same but instead of hw GUI has very modern and efficient matching power of computers and 2020

    Blue Cat AcouFiend

Yep, you are totally right, Larry Even complaining when getting few bugs more to pay for great plugins But other side is having such large collections and spending overall such extreme amount of money for virtual things we have no choice and need to be limited in some way To be spoiled is - in this case - a tool which set threshold for our triggers
  11. But for anyone having already NIMBUS words of recalling NIMBUS is extended version of Phoenix... I was close about forgetting about it and buying Such price...

  17. Ha! So is there a change for PSP85?
  18. "Due to technical limitations the PSP MixPack2 version 2.1.0 is available in the non ilok version only." Interesting sentence. Especially for people who are going to be away off ilok
  19. And still a little time to test it to make you more confident if it is what you need or quite opposite
  20. I have heard some rumors there is to be announced such plugin and it will be really affordable. Release date is 1. April It is really cool plugin so if you have nothing similar to be used in your DAW you can bravely go for it
