  1. Yup...the VST3 to VST2 swap is a good idea...I have to do that with several newer plugs due to the fact that Cake, apparently, doesn't work with all newer VST3s.  But that's not the problem here.  I finally fixed it by completely removing all sound paths from ST4...making sure that the "custom path" box was checked in the IK Product Manager...and then adding back in only the direct sound paths to ST3, ST4, Syntronic and SampleTron.  That did the trick.

Thanks to all for the suggestions.  I've made note of them all in case this crops up again.  🙂

  2. Yup...using the latest version of SampleTank 4.  Removed all duplicate sound paths in the standalone version...which runs fine...and rescanned all sound content.

But after instantiating it in Cake and loading an instrument...as soon as I try to click on the midi track and try to play it...it crashes straight to the desktop.

No hang...no revolving  blue circle...just straight to the desktop.

  3. Tried to purchase the Chicarelli Vocal plug but even though the Jam Points dialog is on the checkout page...and even though there is no mention in the email promo or on the checkout page saying Jam Points are invalid...it won't accept any points at all.

This also happened for a sale purchase last year...but after waiting a few days and then trying to purchase again the points went through.

    So...I'm waiting again because...yes...I'm a cheapskate.

  4. While I've discovered that I can load the tonex models into Amp 5, I'm still unable to do what I really want to:

Tweak a preset in Tonex (which gives you much more control in tweaking the tone model) and then import that new preset into Amp 5.  Even with my interweb sleuthing I still haven't found how to a: do that and b: whether this is actually possible or not.

    Your thoughts??

  5. Thanks to all for the suggestions.  Yes I did a reset and scan. No love.  The missing VST3s are all in the common files folder as they should be but don't scan.

One...the new G-Force M-Tron has a weird suffix...not "dll" which I figure is it's problem.  But the new Fab Filter L2 upgrade has the usual .dll suffix but still doesn't scan.

And...yup, I miss you loveable lugs and should get back to hanging around more...maybe a New Year's Resolution?

  6. Although it's with trepidation I do so, here's wishing everyone  a better, happier and, most importantly, a more rational new year.  I'm not around here that much anymore but I do miss the camaraderie of the old days. So kick out the jams ifn ya can this year.

Also...I posted this in the main forum but I always think I'll get a better response here at the CH...recently after updating a few plugins I noticed that the VST3 versions were not showing up in the scan even though properly installed.  The VST2 versions were there and work fine but the VST3 versions are not.  Is there some new VST3 version out now thay Cake doesn't recognize or any other possible cause for this?  And ... any fix??

  7. I just got the new MOJO 2 Horns library and loaded it on one of my external ssd drives.  I registered my serial in Native Access with no problem but Native Access refuses to "locate" it no matter where I put it on any drive in my DAW.  It looks like it wants to put content in C:Users\Public Documents but I have zilch in there and eleventy jillion libraries on multiple drives.  Have emails in to all concerned but have only heard crickets so far.

So...I'm turning to the brain trust here.

    Or am I???

  8. Agree with Jim, as per usual.  But as an addition...if you want the best inexpensive, bang-for-the-buck mic check out the Aston Element.  We use them here at the studio for voice over AND the occasional background sing sessions.  Usually $149 but sometimes on sale for $99.

  9. I recently received an email promo from the folks at Sonible that, for me, was too good to pass up.  I currently own their smart gate and smart reverb and have been mightily impressed with both.  And after watching myriad videos on the other three plugs in the bundle (smart eq3, smart comp & smart limiter) I'm sold on their system and performance.

The promo was:  as an owner of one or more of the bundle I could purchase the plugs I didn't yet own for $39 each.  Just go to my account at Sonible, put them into my cart and purchase.  There was no promo/discount code in the email so I figured it would just happen automatically once I logged in.

No such love.  No matter how I tried adding them to my cart and no matter how far I got in the purchase process they rang up at $65 each.  Dern!

I removed them from my cart and sent an email to support.  Since they are in Austria it took a day for a reply but then they started by asking if I owned any of the bundle plugins.  Since I already gave them my email this amused me.  In any case they verified that it was a valid offer but did not tell me how to avail myself of it.

I emailed back stating that I indeed owned two of the plugs already (and they could check in my account...duh) so would they please send instructions on how to get the deal and purchase the remaining plugs.

    But so far....crickets.

Anyone else take advantage of this great deal??

  10. I recently picked up a pair initially to replace my "B" monitors (Equator D-5s).  My main monitors are an aging set of KRK V6 system 5s and I love them dearly.

To say I was gobsmacked by the MTMs would be an understatement.  Right out of the box, running flat they beat my KRKs hands down.  And...after calibration with the included ARC mike and built in system they are simply amazing.  How they get that much tight accurate bass response out of such small monitors is beyond me but I'm not complaining.  And totally phase coherent. Wow.  Highly recommended!
