And because VST support in Resolve is done by cavemen lacking serious understanding on how plugins should be managed by a software.

Sure. That's one "regular" song from a YT channel where 99% of its content is either VOCALOID music or anime covers. Because those are the two cases you see these being used for and that's under the umbrella of VOCALOID music. And that's keeping in mind I have the free version of Synthesizer V with all the voice banks including the free version of Solara (wich you can't use in commercial music, btw) and I've never run into any scenario where I even consider using them because the amount of effort required to make these sound good can be spent somewhere else. And since licensing for those seems to be always iffy at best (this being the primary reason why Alter/Ego failed as a product), you're never sure you can even use them legally as the video I posted earlier mentions.

Synthesizer V fills a very small niche of a genre which is called "VOCALOID Music." Nobody is using those things outside of that otherwise. And considering how difficult is to even purchase a license for them, it's no wonder they're stuck in that small music bubble.

Using a Distressor on kick drum
Bruno de Souza Lino replied to Bapu's topic in Instruments & Effects
I was gonna suggest the Eddie Kramer setup with a sand-filled paint can inside the bass drum and a mic on top of it but I don't think that would work well with a 22" Bass Drum. -

Native Instruments doesn't work properly

The message is just a warning and you won't see any issues with the correct ASIO driver for your Scarlett Solo. -
Using a Distressor on kick drum

D12 on the sound hole. 640 REX condenser inside the bass drum pointing at the beater. -
why are two microphones used? (see picture)

While it may seem like that, this is more like T-Racks Master Match when you couple it with Ozone 10 or Neutron 4 that what you're describing. Insight 2 is the tool which does that instead. Expose from Mastering the Mix also does the same thing.

Reason Studios Releases Objekt Synth $79 Intro
Bruno de Souza Lino replied to Brian Lawler's topic in Deals
In some ways, Reason introducing VST support was their undoing in two ways: - They can't gouge their user base for Rack Extensions which are just conversions of plugins from the outside. - It showcases how, once you look at the outside world, some of their attempts at Virtual Instruments are really pedestrian and don't really stand out. -
why are two microphones used? (see picture)
Bruno de Souza Lino replied to Wei Liang Yap's topic in Production Techniques
If you pay close attention to the mics, they're not lined up. This looks to be differential miking. The slightly offset placement of the diaphragms caused audio sources that were not close to cancel out (like stage monitors or the Grateful Dead's Wall of Sound) but it allowed a proximate sound source (like the vocalist) to be captured. Considering both are surrounded by an orchestra and a choir, that would make sense. -
While the interfaces and plugins look cool, some of them crash CbB and, at least for Glory, you'd be hard pressed to use it below 1080p because the interface is not scalable. The effects are nothing to write home about. They do the job but they're nothing special and require 8 GB of RAM, which is weird for some effects like Accelerator, which is just the most basic phaser you can get (even the Kilohearts module one has more controls).

Of course I am. Music is a personal artistic endeavor and this is a forum from a DAW. In the end is all about how this tool can make my life easier and solve my problems. Anything else and you're being used by the tool instead.

SPAN is a free spectrum analyzer from Voxengo.
-
An important distinction to make here is Audiolens on its own is a standalone app, not a plugin. And without Ozone or Neutron, it's nothing more than a fancy spectrum viewer with some fancy persistent of vision guff thrown in. Even SPAN has more functionality than it.

Looking for room treatment advice
Bruno de Souza Lino replied to jwnicholson78's topic in Production Techniques
Personally, I would shift your whole setup left until you're facing the long end of the room. You want to avoid a room with dimensions close to being square as much as possible or being too close to the front or back walls. Since your room is asymmetric, the whole corner idea for bass traps kind of falls apart, as you won't have the same reflections on both sides. -

In other words, this is useless without a copy of Ozone 10 and Neutron 4.
-
If this starts to get out of hand, people will just stop using computers to make music. A good amount of people are actually doing just that nowadays.
-
You have to understand that, as a tool, AI is still a far cry from solving any problems I have. Doesn't matter how fast it grows if it doesn't do squat for me. A tool is only as good as how useful it is for you.
