You're kidding, right? I don't recall receiving any X2, X3 or Platinum CD's, just hours of downloads.

OK, dig up your backup files. The point being that you can find the Rapture installer wherever you have your old Sonar installers. Maybe I should have said that instead.

    I tried, I really tried, but ...

    Now, I'm pi$$ed.  I paid $11 - $0.38 = $10.62 back in February, I could've saved a buck had I waited!  Maybe wait 'til BF?

BTW, thank you PB for letting me know (obviously 1. I use this a lot & 2. I need therapy!

  3. The OTS mandolin is the best one out there. It's a little too raspy for my taste (as if the action was too low) so I adjust the dynamics to not allow velocity over 50%. And the tremolo is tempo-locked (which is way too slow for slow tunes), but it otherwise sounds gorgeous. Very good for bluegrass/folk. Nice articulations. I haven't found anything else close (been waiting on you, Amplesound).

Well Red Room Audio just released a set: https://redroomaudio.com/product/traveler-series-bodhrans-bones/

I have quite a few bodhran VI's and Red Room's is, by far, the best one in my opinion. There are separate controls for both hands so you can control where the striker hits as well as where the dampening/tuning occurs. Plus, there are quite a few drum sizes to choose from. Very well thought out and very flexible. I have lots of fun with this one.

  5. So, all the reviews say how good this sounds.  But it's a convolutional reverb. With the same IRs, shouldn't they ALL sound the same? For instance, I currently use Waves' IR-L. What would I gain from using this one?

The marketing speak says you can import your own IRs. I have Waves IR plugin, but find it really clunky to use. Anyone know if you can import the Wave IR's, or do these developers typically keep everything proprietary so you can't share things cross platform?

There's an entire discussion of this at KVR. The bottom line is Waves uses their proprietary WIR ("Waves IR") format. Someone wrote a utility to covert these to the more universal WAV format. But, as shown in the KVR link,  it doesn't work on the most recent WIR versions. So, at the moment, the only thing you can do to use a WIR file in someone else's convolutional reverb is to:

    1. make an impulse file (make a 96kbps file that is 6 seconds long, or more depending on how large you want the file, consisting only of a single +1 fullscale sample and the rest are all 0).
    2. send that file into the Waves IR of choice at 100% wet, no filters.
    3. add gain to the result so the max amplitude is ~-0.1 dB (or closer if you wish).
    4. save the result as a *.WAV file.

You now have a general format IR of that one Waves reverb that can be used in any convolutional reverb that can import WAV files.

I've done this a total of one time...

No problems here on latest version of Windows 11.  Agree, 90 day check-in is a nuisance and totally unnecessary.

Same. I've had no serious issues with BFD,

  8. The Studio Bundle on all these reseller sites says it includes smart:limit and smart:comp.  But the Sonible says it includes the newer version smart:comp2. Basically the Studio Bundle includes the Dynamics Bundle + smart:reverb (= Smart Bundle)  and the Special EQ Bundle, but not the Metering or Pure Bundles.

  9. And if anyone wants to hear Indiginus' Renegade guitar (and Resonator guitar), you can hear them in action here. I also used Amplesound's banjo and upright bass. And there's the OrangeTree Mandolin as well. They make a nice bluegrass ensemble. If I were to add another instrument it would be Indiginus' Fiddle.

  10. I have no issues with the performance of Waves' plugins or their installer. If you're gonna WUP, this is the time. The $240 max drops to $160 thru https://everyplugin.com/waves-upgrades. It's been worth it to me. My problem is I've already spent my allowance on the OTS Stick and those TDR/Softube specials at AudioDeluxe. And now I also have a student discount at https://www.babylonwaves.com/ the expires in 48hrs. And next month's allowance is already allocated to the expected Kontakt sale.
