This is for me, by far, the DAW with the more intuitive workflow on the market.

I've been using it since v2. It's not the DAW, it's the set of mind I have. Oh, it's also some irritating bugs that turn me off.

To save others some time, the deal is: buy one of their products and get a free expansion for it. Edit: Also, "Get a regular version of EZmix 2 at up to 80% off!*"

Also available at Best Service. The price is the same (at least for me) but you get (and can use) BestCoins. Might be time for me to pick up the bass.

Best Service have boosted the offer with a free product of your choice, which makes TT upgrades look a bit more attractive. Not sure if the same offer applies to other products, though.

  3. More often than not it boils down to proper IRs. Amp-sims of major developers are in the ballpark. PA IRs never really impressed me. Some are usable at best, bust most of them don't deserve any attention. I suggest to try whatever amp-sims you have with other IRs first, before you decide to invest in a new toy plugin.

    Soundwise,

Does the Artist version of Studio one have Pipeline XT included?  I want to get Studio one, but I I want a version that allow the use of external hardware since I use a good amount of it in my mixing in Cakewalk by Bandlab.

AFAIK, no. Some advanced features require either Pro or Plus version.

Pro v1??   That seems like a great price to me.  S1 isn't even recognizable from that version with all the added features and stuff.  I upgraded to v5 Pro in Xmas of 2020 for $99.  In Feb 2022, I upgraded to v6 for $119.  I didn't want to wait until Xmas to try and save $20 on the upgrade.  :)   IIRC $99 is about as low as I've seen it.

I have upgraded to v4 Pro for around $70. Apparently, since v5 release, 30% is the maximum discount.
Currently, I have v6.5 Artist with lots of goodies from previous Pro. And the only difference, besides Atmos and Project Page, is the lack of Chords Track and Score Editor, which is not something I can get easily my hands on anyway while in exile.

For those who don't need aforementioned Pro features, Artist version should be sufficient.

Maybe they're adding TMT to the meters so there will be some variation between them too 🤣

Nice one! I hope they're not going to emulate scratchy pots, malfunctioning cables or power failure.

Have you had the chance to play with it yet? So you can confirm this?

I've tried it. Yes, it sounds better than v7.

One of the best features of the new GP is audio file support and ability to sync it with the score. We've implemented this feature in MagicScore SongWriter  back in 2014, hoping to beat GP and gain a larger user base. Didn't work out for non-business related reasons.  Anyway,  I'm glad that GP8 now allows users to embed audio and listen to proper performance which is hard to copy even with the gamut of sophisticated features found in the editor.

Shooting themselves in the face is what they're doing.

Subscription is what they want from their customers. They've proven their plugins to be:

    • great sounding
    • CPU and RAM efficient
    • bug free (I don't recall having a single problem with their plugins)
    • easy to install and authorize

Besides that, they constantly develop new plugins, add them to the subscription bundles free of charge.

    What's not to like?

so my question is, if one has the IKM T-Racks.. is there a point to getting this? I mean, how different are they really?

Like two different units. Almost the same. Waves version is easier on CPU, though.

Same here, but still prefer Orange Tree Samples for musicality.

I use virtual guitars for mock-ups and quick arrangements. Musicality is handled by 16 real instruments. But thanks for the heads-up. I might wanna check OTS instruments for ease of use.
