but in blind tests while they have more body , the PA seemed to integrtate better in the mix i was working on

I find this is true not only for bass amps, but other studio processors like comps and EQs. Although better is subjective, as IK plugins still sound awesome.

  2. Haha! No matter how many people dislike these amp sims, tone like this inspires me to play for hours and hours. The only thing that turns me off is the intro price. I'll wait for a sale and get these ASAP.

  3. They've had this tempo adjustment for quite some time. Not really sure when it was introduced first, but it's definitely not new. The track is, the functionality isn't.

They should've fixed/revamped their AQ feature, as  it's barely useable.

It's gotta be bad if bapu don't wannit.

    LOL!

Not that great as it used to be. 10 years ago it was very easy to work with. It would run effortlessly on my laptop. I had high hopes for X3, but was bitterly disappointed with no modern UI/UX updates and too many bugs like constant drop outs and frequent crashes. The only benefit was getting the suite with full Independence and SpectraLayers Pro. X4 and X5 don't bring anything worth paying for. I'm with Bapu on this one.

This 'issue' is overdemonized...  Solution is very simple and used by pros for years... If project is done just print your tracks with effects into stems and that's all.

If you wanted to remix the project after some years you would most likely use your favorites plugins at that time - not those used years ago (otherwise you would have still using them, right?

    Right!

Committing changes is a tough thing to learn. I've seen an interview with Eddie Kramer, where he mentioned this as a necessity of 70s' studio workflow. Got me thinking that revisiting and readjusting processing isn't always a great idea. I'm yet to start exporting stems for mixing, though.

A four string bass would have taken 20% less time?

    6 strings:  instant results;

    6 - 1 =  half a year.

    6 - k = (half a year)*k, k∈[1,6)

    See what I did here?

I'm waiting in line to hear from someone on how it was not EZ to learn cuz it has 5 strings.

I didn't get the joke, so I'll reply to this as is.

Switching from normal 6-string guitar to 5-string bass was quite a challenge indeed. Took me about half a year to fully embrace the extended lower range, particularly the extra bottom string.

Well there may be no control over the power amp section as we know it, but according to the RockRack manual, they are AMP sims. Doesn't mention preamps.

    From the manual:

The bx_rockrack V3 boasts eight famous amp models in a single plugin, including the
Metal BX 666, an original creation of Brainworx founder Dirk Ulrich and Senior DSP
Engineer Igor Nembrini. On top of that, 40 impulse responses are included, offering
just the right variety of tone and timbre for your guitar rig. As with all their guitar amps,
Brainworx gives you a powerful selection of perfectly recorded boutique cabinets
captured with complete effects chains from studios featuring great sounding amp
rooms and stellar gear. Each amp was painstakingly recorded by professional audio
engineers who make their living by capturing tone. Imagine being able to take your pick
of famous amps from Marshall®, Mesa, and ENGL, then running them through any
one of several speaker cabinets mic’d and treated with the studio rack of your dreams.
bx_rockrack V3 brings this dream to life, right inside your DAW.

So the way I am reading and understanding what they are saying, they believe it to be complete amp setups from start to finish.

Well, technically speaking, any amplifying cascade can be called an "amp". I'm talking about power amp circuit emulation which isn't there. There shouldn't be one at least for Engl e530, because it is a preamp by design. Other "amps" may or may not have it. It seems like they don't either.  I couldn't hear or measure its impact, although I tried hard.

  9. Nice collection of sound I actually never use. Time to stop collecting, not!

I checked on Presonus pages and it seems Jim Odom and Brian Smith are owners of Presonus (at least they founded it) so is this a giveaway intended only for those nice two guys? :)

    Putler government style.

I thought they'd got the crunch/high gain kinda covered with the Marshall/Soldano, so I was hoping for some twist on the clean/jangle Perhaps something brownface Fendery or Voxy!

Would love me something Voxy for sure!

It's far better than the PA stuff, Megasingle etc, but still, it's not for me.

Far better than PA? Wasn't megasingle developed by Igor Nembrini as well? Are you talking about amp side or the plugin overall? IMO, PA amps lack in IR department, but are perfectly fine with recording chain section bypassed. I prefer to use ampsims with third party IRs, particularly by Celestion. I suspect that Cali is hardly any better than bx megas if you use your favourite IRs. The real question is - is there any noticeable difference at all?

I've been hearing various comments about having true separation between the amp and cab part of the modeling.  Some of the new Rigs come as "amp only" where you add your own IR to the signal chain.  I can only assume doing this purposefully is better/more accurate than disabling part of the pre-baked signal chain in rigs that are not natively separate?

They've not been very vocal about their Rig technology, but if I understand it correctly, Overloud and other TH-U Rig libraries developers measure the signal both before and after cab/mic setups. Thus users can disable either part and create their own chains. Correct me, if I'm wrong.
