Are these an upgrade compared to the Amplitube IRs in terms or quality/responsiveness?
I wouldn't say so. It used to be better than AT4 cab module, though. If you still have AT4 it's worth taking time to dial your perfect cabs in WoS plugin. With AT5 you're all set.

Train II has to be my top choice
Second that! It's arguably their best amp-sim.

On kvr forum everytime a new popular plug-in is released it inevitably turns into an aliasing discussion. Someone always brings out plugindoctor and immediately starts “hearing” aliasing that wasn’t there before hahha. Usually discussion gets pretty heated after that. It’s one thing to hear it like you did but on that forum its just so predictable where the threads will go around page 3 hehe.
Thanks for the explanation.

Aliasing?
Maybe it's not relevant to metal and drop tuning players. I don't notice aliasing when playing riffs either, but can't stand that constant whooshing in the background when playing solos.
Not familiar with that notorious KVR thingy.

Must admit that I'm genuinely impressed with the quality of these plugins. Last time I checked it was something absolutely useless called Bulldog or whatever. These (I've tried AHM and BlackSun) switch oversampling so seamlessly, I thought this functionality was not implemented. But it is. And it solves that dreaded aliasing problem, that plagues most high-gain amp models. Still not sure whether I really need yet another 5150 style ampsim, but heck, it's only $8 and bundled IRs are excellent!

I have the entire collection and to my ear these sound awesome.

There you are. Unfortunately, I can't share commercial IRs so imported bank will have only two presets with just one publicly available IR each, but this will give you an idea how I build my preset collections.

thx, will take you up on the offer as i'm sure it will help with the learning curve, completely at your convenience.
Not at my DAW ATM. Feel free to remind me of this, if I don't upload preset(s) by the end of the week.

Or you can have mine if Larry's voucher is already gone.

Been waiting for prices to get reasonable. Now's the time to get their amp(s).

looking for anything to enhance a "3D' sound which is probably more of a room thing (rig+room = the sound).
Tried a couple of IR loaders, but got results I liked better by dumping them into Melda's MConvolution, which is why >> MCabinet.
I can share some of my MCabinet presets to show how I use their R and W settings, whatever they mean.

Definitely! AT5 runs circles around AT4 in cab simulation. In fact, cabs in AT4 were the weakest link in the otherwise solid product.

Overloud's SuperCabinets is one very powerful IR loader. Hopefully, you won't be disappointed.

still intrigued by the "dynamic" potential
Looks great on paper, though I still wonder why no one has released a convincing demonstration of dynamic IRs advantages over normal, static IRs.
FWIW, TwoNotes claim that their virtual cabinets are dynamic. Maybe it's true, but each time I try to use the Wall of Sound plugin, it eventually gets replaced by other options.
Also worth noting that AT5 cabinets are now beyond excellent, second to none.
Overloud's SuperCabinet has got Z-Curve which is kinda sorta emulates speaker dynamics. AFAIC, it works with user IRs as well.
Considering all available options, SpeakerMix seems overpriced. And with its CPU performance, need for further investments as well as not apparent benefits of so called "dynamic IRs" I don't see it being a hit in the already crowded cab sim market.

not this?

or this?
just started looking into these, got some work to do but any opinions based on actual experience appreciated...
MCabinet is awesome. I've converted my Celestion IR and Ownhammer collections into MCab presets and use it almost exclusively.

And I'm on the forever train of continuing to alway have some jampoints. I had $118. I bought $100 GC. Paid $70 for them. Now I have $122.
It just *never* ends.
And..... I somehow ended up with $10 in GCs. Until they either offer something up for $10, $35, $55 or $110 in the CS I'll never get rid of those GCs.

I was missing woodwinds. Now I got them all. Time to make some awesome music with these.

IIRC, there is no choking with hi-hat, which makes these drum-kits a waste of drive space.

I was like, hell yes, they changed my life man. I feel like making love, oh yeah!! 🙂
Just kidding, i wound up listening to some of their back catalog. He was a good vocalist that Paul Rogers dude.
Here is a track, using TH-U for all guitar sounds. Not sure about bass, though.

"Some competing products offer a low-quality mode to preserve CPU. We do not do that, as such a mode would neither live up to Softube's quality standards nor to the quality standards of our partnering companies, such as Doepfer and Intellijel. Softube's reputation for being heads and shoulders above the competition is what convinced our partners to work with us in the first place."
Interesting statement. Overloud and Plugin Alliance products barely use any CPU yet still deliver superb processing, second to none, dare I say.
