  1. Hey Peeps! Here is my latest music song. Let me know what you think. I played the clarinet solo in the middle of the song on a real clarinet. lol The solo may need more editing and I could not get the sound the way I wanted it. But it is okay I think. I may change it to something else. Let me know your thoughts. Best to you! πŸ’—πŸŒΉπŸ’‹πŸ˜˜ Rex

    With You

I need to listen to it in headphones and see if i can detect what you mean. The song is still a WIP so I can make any changes, it will soon pass that deadline so it is good to know this now rather than later. Thank you very much Andy for the alert on the guitar lead panning. Best to you!

    With You

Hey awesome Cakewalk peeps! Here is my latest song I just made the first mix of today. Comments and suggestions are welcome, this is still a work in progress. I have not recorded the electric guitar solos yet for it and there might be some mix changes as well. I hope you enjoy this new song! Best to you! RexRed

    The Way I Feel

Andy, your descriptions are quite nice, thanks for the really great comment! The Eagles are kings of harmonies (and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young as well)... Yes Paul, the drums to me did not sound right coming in full volume, it seemed stepping up the drum volume worked better, a little less intrusive. I am surprised you picked up on that. When I left the drums low throughout, there seemed to be something unsatisfying about it. I really appreciate all of the critiques and compliments on my music awesome Cakewalk peeps! Best to you! RR

If you purchased this song on Reverbnation be sure to download the new version as well. This is why I use Reverbnation, so I can offer new updated versions to my fans under the same song they already purchased. πŸ‘πŸŽΆπŸ’—

    The Way I Feel

Hello Hockeyjx, I brought the lead vocal down into the mix more. I fixed a weird harmony part that was out, it is closer to being right. Turned the reverb down a bit on the ending vocal part that was way too wet. I added a bit more reverb to the lead vocal. Your comments were entirely spot on! I also found out that the lead vocal compressor somehow got bypassed in the other mix. That is turned on now. These comments are VERY helpful peeps! Thanks lot for the awesome critiques! πŸ’–πŸŽΆπŸ‘πŸŒΉ

  13. Thanks Bjorn for the really great comment! It was a fun song to make and a good project to get experience on. 😁 All these comments are really nice, thanks!
  14. Prochannel compressos and EQ are the only compressors and EQ I use except for Fabfilter L2 in my master bus bin. These Prochannel effects work so well, have great fidelity, are convenient and seem to have a low impact on my processor. I have a lot of other compressors and EQs but these prochannel effects are then only ones I really like and use. Anyone else feel this way? Proprietary to Cakewalk too!
  15. Kurzweil SP6-8 88-Key Stage Piano Bundle with Keyboard Stand, Bench, Pedal & Dust Cover https://smile.amazon.com/Kurzweil-Fully-Weighted-Hammer-Action-Keyboard-Piano-Style/dp/B084JMJWJW/ref=sr_1_1_sspa ...and it comes with 2GB of onboard sample content! Price: $1,549.99 I really doubt that 2GB of sample content is going to rival my PC based Falcon, Avenger Vengeance or Nexus synths. And my Kontakt synth with a TB of samples cost $1,600 (collector's edition) This synth at Amazon does not even list the quality specs of the samples. Like headphones no longer specify the frequency response. Apple released earbuds with no frequency response listed and now everyone does it. You buy them because they are Apple and come in a white box, not because they are full range. lol

    Walk Beside You

Andy, I have used that technique of placing a capo and picking in other positions for additional tracks. The result is a very varied pattern and complimentary texture of guitar harmonies and tones. I am not sure why I did not think of it here. I may go back in and substitute one of the guitar tracks with a capo picking pattern as you have suggested. I will try and remember that in the future as well. Great suggestion!
  17. WOW! A lot of great posts here! Tons to think about! I usually record my projects at 24 bit 96khz but recently I recorded a song at 24bit 48khz and it sounded really good. I wonder if there really is a benefit from not overworking the processor. My Cakewalk graph says the processor cores are barely working but barely working is still millions, if not billions of calculations per second. 😁 I have kept 64 bit oversampling on steady since it was first introduced in Cakewalk. I read that long article and I still am not sure what it really does. My biggest concern is that Melodyne probably relies heavily on 64 bit oversampling due to it varying the pitch of samples. Or maybe Melodyne preforms better with it off? Something I would like to know more about. I usually turn oversampling to the max in all plugins right before I render. I am wondering if it is really accomplishing what I think it is doing or making things worse? And what if I have oversampling on in plugins and also in Cakewalk, is there an interaction factor involved here? I question my paygrade versus my ability to understand. lol What is the meaning of life?
  18. I think for now I am going to stick with the SM7B I don't like that the ribbon mic only goes to 18khz but my SM7B goes to 20khz.. Look at the price of this mic and it only goes to 15khz... https://www.shure.com/en-US/products/microphones/ksm313

  22. Thanks for the awesome comments peeps! This song would not be possible to the extend that it is without the helpful advice from this forum! Much love Cakewalk peeps! This was sung through the Shure SM7B going through the GAP Pre73 MKIII. It was recorded at 48khz 24bit through the Rodecaster Pro II I want to also thank the people who have been suggesting that I better soundproof my vocal room (studio). It occurred to me your thinking, even the slightest bit of bounce back into the mic will cause a doubling of the signal going into the mic. This will wreak havoc on transients as well. It took me a while for that to sink in, as does many things these days. All the best peeps!
  23. I am looking at this thing. Golden Age Project R2 MKII Ribbon Microphone https://smile.amazon.com/Golden-Age-Project-R2-MK2/dp/B00506YCFS/ref=sr_1_3 I assume this microphone would work with my GAP Pre 73 MKIII preamp.

    NORWAY!

Lovely visuals and the music is very nice as well! πŸ’–
  25. That is really great info to know BDickens! On checking Google they concur with you. So probably my balanced XLR cable is better than the XLR to TSR because it does not have any kind of conversion happening within the cable.
