  1. Thanks!

I had configured this shortcut since old Sonar days, and for some reason I never changed it, so it got stuck as a it was, until I tried to change it now.

I see in the selection options that there are some blank spaces... could be it, I don't know.

  2. Hi,

I'm trying to create a shortcut to ARCHIVE track(s).

I couldn't find the corresponding item in the Key Bindings area. I checked all the categories. It should be under Global Bindings I guess.

Last saved shortcut had the text "Set All Selected Tracks to Archived Status", which I didn't find.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

  3. Regarding hiding envelopes: just click the minus when the Automation lanes are displayed, AND the "Display Ghosted Data" is OFF: the envelope disappear from sight completely, with the automation lanes open or closed.

To show again an envelope: click the plus sign (apparently, CW remembers the envelopes used...!)

    ---

Colors: have no idea how to change the envelope colors! - someone will have the answer thou.

-Just remember, that technique will speed up the tempo too. -And, FWIW, it took me a bit to figure out - select the audio clip first, then open Loop Construction (view - tool(?) - I did it from the Views selection in the file menu), as I hadn't seen that one since I don't usually work on loops much, but that is just me!  -Also, maybe try it on a short section of audio first, I'm not sure how long of a recording you are talking about here.

Spot On! it worked just fine. Yes, it took me a while to read the OPEN THE LOOP CONSTRUCTION VIEW b ... jeje

Yes, I struggled a little bit with Loop construction, but made it work.

Yes, there is a limit in the audio length: in my case, it worked splitting the long clip in two, each one around 7 minutes long (it's a lot! - this was a whole movement of a Beethoven Symphony).

I did all the steps and was able to fine tune by pitch cents (-23 cents), and voilá... the audio matched my VSTs.

    Thanks a lot!

Are you OK with changing the time factor as well as pitch? -Disclaimer - I'm terrible with math elements, so I don't know if the tool I am thinking of has the right range settings, but I would look into the method described by Craig Anderton, on changing the entire pitch & timing of an audio file, just like we used to do with varispeed on a tape machine:

Craig Anderton - How To Do True Tape-Type Varispeed In Cakewalk-Sonar

I have used this technique, and though I use it most to do full semitone adjustments, it does offer up to +-49 cents adjustment, and in fact I just used it to nudge tuning on a sample, and if I knew the proper math... I'm sure someone here will laugh & help out, but anyway, adjust the audio file up to the cent level you need, and I would think that would do it.

(Yes, just an example, not the right value!)

Great...! I'll give it a try.

  6. Hi, I need to adjust the tuning of an old recording in which the orchestra was tuned to 432 hz.

I need to adjust the whole tuning to 440 hz (today's standard), but didn't find a way using Melodyne Studio, nor using the transpose audio commend, which goes in half steps.

    Any suggestions? Thanks!

Andres, thank you very much for bringing up my doubts in your reply as well.

This answer of yours gave me another doubt when I went to operate.

Why on some tracks the option that the color of the track follows the color of the BUS does not appear?

Milton, I tried in my system and every audio track has the two options available. However the MIDI tracks don't. Double check your type of track? and make sure that you RIGHT click on the selection area. Left clicking does nothing! (weird)

But I'm more concerned with the background color of the clips on the various tracks

Oh yes, sorry. I guess this is something to do with Themes?

I don't work a lot with them, thou!

    Hello,

Just trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I've set my track/clip colors, using both "Themes" and "Colors" in the Prefs. In Track View, the backgrounds are as I set them, all the way down into the 30s & 40s (track numbers). They follow the color templates fine.

But when I insert new audio tracks to record onto, they all come up the same color, and no longer follow the color scheme. I've tried to troubleshoot this, and have looked in the "Colors" and "Theme" settings, and I have used the Theme Editor to try to find which setting I'm missing, but no luck. Any ideas? Thanks.

    --je

I think AUDIO  track colors in track view gets its shade from two sources: Default Color or assigned bus. If your newly inserted track are routed to some predefined bus, and it's color is assigned to "Follow Bus", it will get it's color. Or if not, it will get its shade from your Default color.

To open the related menus, left click on the color of the track, then right click on the color selection area.

Check this thread related to colors:

Or hold SHIFT while adjusting the durations of one of the selected notes.  That will make all the selected note the same duration as the note you are adjusting.

    Didn't know that!

    Great for speeding my workflow!

    Thanks -

  11. Uh, this is BIG NEWS!

So, CW is capable of doing what the OP needed to do. Fantastic! Never occured to me it was possible.

I will give it a try.

    ---

Edit: I already tried it and works like a charm. It even adds the plugins from the source project, with all parameters updated, plus all the corresponding  bus/track parameters.

I wish I knew this before. This is why this forum is so great.

    Thanks to all -

This is the dialogue I always get when I choose Edit-Copy. I guess I was unaware that is is called Copy Special, it just says copy,  but I see you are correct as the Help module is calling it that. Thanks for the clarification.  It's odd how when you look there are 3 little dots indicating there is more to the text,, And to further mystify the Paste has both options? Is the Copy text having a bug issue there in the graphics?

Oh, you get the menu from right clicking. Yes, it's confusing there. In the main menu are two options, copy and copy special.

smoothing waveforms out by hand can be quicker for one-off clipping issues.

The editing capabilities of Acoustica 6 include this tool? I didn't find a tool in the menus, except the draw freehand volume...

  14. Sorry, it was a bit hard to see clearly the details of your video, but I have had a similar issue, which was my fault. Not sure if this applies to your problem.

When exporting, I used the export preset Tracks Through Entire Mix, which sum all hardware outputs, which were two (Main Out+Speakers Out), so the audio was clipping more or less depending on the fader position of the speakers out. In this case, the solution was to mute the speakers out on exporting, as the preset by its nature sums all outs.

Double check that your export preset is the right one, and if it is, that the settings are correct.

  15. Thanks for your feedback and tests!

I wasn't unable to get the same results that you got, but after another series of quick tests found out that the default browser folder appears to be linked to the active Screenset. So, I unlocked the screenset, locked again (it seems the only way to "save the screenset"), and it saved the selected folder with it.

Andres: Thanks so much. That did the trick. I was able to find my old Sonar presets (same Key name, but under "Sonar"). I exported that key, and exported my Cakewalk Bandlab key, just to save them. Then, I opened them both in a text editor. I copied the first line from the Bandlab key (which is its name/location in the registry), and I pasted it into the Sonar key (which had all my presets), then "SAVE AS" a new key file, so I didn't overwrite the original key.  Then, I installed that new key over the original Bandlab one  in the Registry and it works like a charm.

I had about 15 different "Export Audio" presets that I had made over the years, from the early times of Sonar, and I didn't want to have to recreate all of them. This saved hours of work! And I tried them in CW Bandlab and they work. Thanks again. Really appreciate it.

    You are welcome!

BTW John, apparently is not a good idea to share your mail in open forums. You could get a new user name for this forum thou.
