  1. I didn't think it was too long.  I listened to *to see you again*  that's an amazing song. I don't think I've heard it (have I?)  It's more lyrical than others I've heard.

Avant garde Asian Mozart goes to the circus. That was a good listen! It held my interest all the way to the end. It was fun trying to hear the little stuff underneath the big stuff - nice job there!

FWIW you might consider dropping the shaker volume just a bit in the first section. And throughout, the transient attack on the kick drum beater is throwing off a percussive hit artifact that sounds a bit too much like a digital clip. If that makes any sense? Not really a problem, just an observation.

The steel drum sample is great and well used! What did you use for that?

    cheers,

Thanks for your wise ears tom.  Those artifacts had something to do with ozone and a soundtoys plugin.  Took me a long time to find it. Thanks again!

  3. You  use repetition effectively in this piece.  I'm not up on this this genre, or at least don't write in it.  Did you go to University for it?  brav(e)o

What the?  That not only was short, but sweet, as well.

Lynn,  I get better reviews here the shorter the piece. :D:D  The middle section I added reminds me of dorothy in the tornado.  Crows are so confusing.

Very nice, David! I come from a classical background, so I really appreciate a good orchestral tune. It was short, as you noted, but you packed a lot into that 1:14. Very complex, dissonant at times, but beautiful. Nicely done!

It's longer now.  Thanks for taking the time to listen to it leadfoot!

  6. Love this John.  You're using the musical space better than  in some of the past songs .  Horowitz intimated  the magic  is in the pauses, the  silence is just as important as the sound.

  7. So I added a middle section, but it clips on some speakers and not others.  What should I do? Also, the little tune in the middle is Segovia's estudio sin luz.   (study without light, I thought it was apropos of crows)  Thank you Tom and Wookie for listening and the suggestions.

I think I've mentioned this before, for some reason some of your pieces remind me of the soundtrack to Yellow Submarine.
I hope you'll take that as a compliment.
As to Kafka, I guess all my taste is in my mouth. Some of the "great" 20th century novelists leave me cold.
Salinger, Perfect Day for Banana Fish, really? He wrote ***** in Catcher, BFD.

Maybe I've been cooped up to long?
    Ya think?

    tom

off to curl up on the couch with some good 'ol pulp fiction; I won't have to think...

Dont get me started on Salinger.  But if you've read nine stories...then you're way cool.  He was a friend of my Grandmother's.  6 degrees...y'know. Also, if teddy died (dode?) it was a heroes death.
