Loved this, some of the best lyrics I've ever heard!  Truly heartfelt.

Thankyou David your comment is highly regarded here in the SupaReels camp !

Really nice song, so sweet and atmospheric, with great, sad lyrics. Totally enjoyed it. It goes so well with a cold, Sunday evening (right here, right now).
Congratulations and thanks for this peaceful moment.

Thanks for the comments ...it also goes well with a cold beer LOL 🍺🥴

Just sussed it !  .... Early Jagger .. took a few listens .   .keep 'em commin'

  4. I have to say your stuff is really hard to comment on, the mix is always good the lyrics are great and I think I kinda liked this ... kinda but not sure, although I have become a fan of these later mixes. I would really like to see this performed live, say on Jools Holland late night show ... never gonna happen I guess. Back when 'The old gray whistle test' was around whispering Bob would have lapped this up  .... hey ho heady days 9_9

Thank you very much Steve for your kind words and support.

The inspiration for the lyrics is this growing group of men in society and online that seem to be lost, not really know their place in life.  No purpose, very bitter and often lonely. He could be dangerous, like a ticking bomb. But he doesnt have to be, its all up to the listener. :)

Thanks for that ..I will hear it in a more understanding way now, for me it's kind of important with work like this ... Thanks again for your time 👍

  6. For me no drum beat then I'd slowly build up the pad ( crescendo ) to 1.24  and then use the trip intro drum to accentuate your chorus to the beat .. also the snare feels a little high ... but all good really and works better for my old ears ...

  7. Right up there .. I get Toms obs and your take on the beat, for me it all works although I would have loved a M8, say lead guitar, but it's a small crit .. I do love your stuff as you know, probably 'cause of your lyrics with great mixing ... so all good here, thanks for the post 👊

    Steve

Where was the inspiration for the lyrics ..?    Just love to know

  8. It's like I was listening to a Cliff type song on stage .. I like the amount of reverb which I think gives a sort of live performance vibe and given the clean mix helps this overall, for me anyway. As a lyrics kinda guy I'd say the song works well 👍

  9. This so professional and so much work for us to enjoy ... all I have is a big thankyou for the post ! ( I know the Vienna software is top notch but you have to know how to use it .. then mix the result ...... getting gushy so 'nuff said 😊)

Thanks for taking the time to listen! Your comments did a world of good for this apprentice songwriter to read, Steve!

You underestimate yourself .. still haunts me (My wife keeps saying ' why do you keep singing " Hold me down" ... so I said she had to hear this song ..Tom Waits came to mind .. all good)👍

  13. This mix is so unusual  here .....  but it works just great to give that sad feel and the hook is gonna stay in my head for days.. love it ..more of this stuff please 👍

    Steve

    3rd listen .. still great

  14. Some how, and although I believe this is one of the best love songs I've heard from you, for me it doesn't quite work. As Gary commented, the drum pattern is too mechanical .. flat is a good way to put it. Your vocal work (as always) is great but the song needs more feeling and possibly a less staccato rhythm regarding the guitar  work. I really like this Rex and although it doesn't sound like it given my comments. Perhaps a little less 'up front' with the beat with maybe a string pad and harmony on the main lyric 'This love' bit ... looking forward to the revised version ... if it comes.

Well done for a good bit of work

I like your mix and the arrangement -- your choice of instruments is interesting and make for some tasty ear candy -- I also like your vocal approach and tone.  ~~Allan

  17. It's the one time I don't agree with you .. I really think the acoustic guitar has a little more of a 'mellow' sound and not so  discordant as observed by Andrew. I think your version is as good especially given the lack of dynamics as you said and I always learn when your posts come up ... thanks David .. I just wanted to post the version I listend to for reference ...
