seems that their marketing people don't speak to their tech people

We do speak to each other regularly.  That FAQ says nothing about iRig 2.  It specifically states "Most iRig units with a USB port are Windows/PC compatible" and iRig 2 does not have a USB port it is an analog unit that connects via TRRS connection into a combo input/output headphone jack.  Hence the very low price...

  2. Some PCs may have a combination input/output similar to iOS devices and some macOS computers, but you'd need something like ASIO4ALL as mentioned to get any reasonably useful semblance of proper latency etc.  Plus the sound quality will not be even close to something like iRig HD 2 (also mentioned above) since there's a digital connection there thus much better sound quality vs running both input and output through a headphone combo jack.

If you were even able to get it working... This is why we do not list Windows in the Specs/requirements for iRig 2.  Nor even Mac computers, even though you have a much better chance of strangling it into working there https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/irig2/index.php?p=specs

  3. Seems there have been some questions or has been some confusion about whether this is intended to replace AmpliTube 5 or at least how it is different so I figured this reply that we've posted as a response to that might be helpful here too:

AmpliTube and TONEX are two different products using different technologies: AmpliTube is made using analog modeling technology while TONEX uses a new technology called AI machine modeling ( https://www.amplitube.com/ai ). While analog modeling simulates the behavior of the whole circuit of the amp - with all the knobs, switches, buttons and their interactions  -  AI machine modeling gives an ultra-realistic simulation of the rig with a specific knob settings. So it's not that one technology  is "better" than the other, it depends of what the final user's needs are: full editing and customization versus accuracy in getting a specific sound. Using them together gives of course the best of both worlds and a super-powerful amp-sim system.

The two products are also different because AmpliTube can simulate the entire set up used in guitar recording (multiple serial and parallel rigs combining amps, all type of stomp effects, post effects, cabinets and microphones, etc.. with full editing down to the single gear), while TONEX is dedicated to simulates just amp, cabinets and certain type of pedals (distortions, overdrive, fuzz, EQ, boost) in each of their combinations. However TONEX can be used inside AmpliTube, as a sub-system of amps and pedals, again to have the best of both worlds.

  4. I've offered to bury the hatchet multiple times, funny you now play it this way in public when someone else notices you have some beef with IK/me.  I accept PMs here, I get them all the time.  You know how to reach me via the multiple other ways I've tried to communicate in the past if they're not working here.

That aside, this is clogging the thread and I apologize.  I would love to see Larry back but I also know that he has every right to take a break if he felt things were a bit toxic even if to some of us it might read differently or whatever, I can see why he felt a bit overwhelmed/frustrated/whatever about those posts.  I also recommend breaks from Facebook but if he's flourishing there and that works for him, power to Larry for that.  I always enjoyed communicating with him (including via PM) here.

Yeah, I find reddit quite unwieldy.

It can be, sometimes, what with the odd toxicity and/or vendettas and such (you'll see some posts about power-hungry moderators, toxic communities but that's usually referencing a community outside of but possibly including the Reddit portion of that community, etc) but overall I find it better than other social media by a mile.

I also think places like the lounge are actually very wholesome and I guess "wieldy" :) which is why I have Premium for my personal account.

  6. Since this came up elsewhere and you can catch it in the video if you notice we're using a capture of both amp and cab whilst switching amps and cabs...

Just to be clear about the amp and cab "separation" question: Even if  you capture amp + cab at the same time, TONEX is able to split them after the fact so you can swap cabs (or amps) at will.

You do not need to do two captures.  This is unique to TONEX.

I never played FX3, but gotta say that the graphics on the new version are outstanding! That's probably why the package weighs 16GB, LOL! 🤣

No way, must be all that "physics code" :)   But I will definitely try it out. Still considering a virtual table but it has to have haptic/physical feedback and I prefer it isn't done simply by using bass-heavy audio...  Unfortunately some of the virtual pins out there just use hyped bass to simulate some of the physical aspects of a real table.  I also need to be able to nudge (or maybe tilt!) the table too.

I have an Arturia Audiofuse Studio, with built in ReAmp output, I should be able to use that to make profiles in Tonex, right?

As long as you can safely reamp (like we've been doing with AXE I/O for the captures you've heard/seen in videos and audio demos) yes.

OK, installed it on my Win10 PC, and it works great! Big fun! :)

Today's free games are Star Wars Pinball: Masters of the Force, and Williams Pinball: The Getaway High Speed II. They seem to rotate them daily, hoping you will buy some tables.

Just an FYI, the disk space required is nearly 16GB. I was wondering why the download took so long. Assume you get it all, then they just unlock content as needed.

I have a soft spot for High Speed II but I may have missed it.  Oh well :) I have it on the PBFX3 anyway

Hey @Peter - IK Multimedia - if I plug in a guitar and record a gear snapshot*, will the tone sound different if I plug in a completely different guitar that naturally has a different sound (e.g. if they have different pickups)? Or is there some sort of modelling that tries to make the input signals the same too?

*sorry if I've not used the right terminology

Looks like this was answered correctly.  Your guitar is not part of the capture process.

I assume that eventually, TONEX SE will be a free option with hardware (free bonus software title), in which case, it's a compelling reason to get it via a hardware purchase.

TONEX SE is free with TONEX Capture which is the absolute best pairing.  And once released it should be a choice with select hardware I'll remind the team we usually add SE versions to that list and see what's up there.

Ahh yes, the  modded de-gooped Dumble that was Bonnamassa's.   Did you buy it from Wild West Guitars or just get to borrow it for the modeling?

Of note it is a 50W ODS not the typical 100W.

I'm curious on these if the modeling handles capturing the range of the knobs (gain, eq, swtiches, etc) or just static grabs of a particular setting then the software takes over to allow some adjustment of say eq and tone curves.

Some of the "list" suggests a single chain with stompboxes in it, are those baked into the profile, or were they captured independenlty so they can be switched on and off?

Not borrowed.  Paid for it, cash money.  I played it, it's a beast of an amp - sounds amazing.  We don't typically borrow anything unless it is something like Dimebag's estate's gear that we can't keep for obvious reasons.

You can see the full measurement process using the Dumble in our latest video posted this morning.  Stompboxes can be measured either on their own or part of the chain.

There's also the iOS version: https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/tonexios/  That's exciting (to have the same modeling on iOS).  I wonder there are any aural compromises vs. Mac/PC.

From my reading, there's going to be a common TONEX store for iOS, TONEX Mac/PC, and AmpliTube 5.  So, I'm assuming that if we purchase TONEX SE Mac/PC, it'll unlock the TONEX SE IAP on iOS (similar to how SSSR on MixBox Mac/PC unlocked SSSR on MixBox iOS).  Correct?

Right you can by the SE, regular, or MAX version and use the Tone Models across platforms.

I am curious how will this affect AmpliTube development.

It is part of the AmpliTube ecosystem and we've only just begun - this brings in so many possibilities and things we already have plans for.  But AmpliTube is still the analog-modeled gear vs capturing so they are different (yet work together).  So both AmpliTube and TONEX will benefit long-term, 100%.

    AmpliTube and TONEX together strong

I'm probably lost a little bit.  I don't want to capture anything just want to use amps/cabs/effects as I'm doing in AT5 now.  Is it this IK Tonex something just like TH-U Rig Player for my needs?

In your case you'd use it as a "player" so yes.  The list has some pretty sought-after gear captured, too, like the fabled Dumble Super Overdrive and a Klon (you can see both in some of the screenshots on the AmpliTube TONEX site too).

Edit - plus whatever users share using the TONENET for AmpliTube TONEX platform.

So just to be clear, the Sunset Sound Reverb Collection Upgrade for MixBox doesn't unlock the $49 level BOGO, unless you pay the full $49 (less jampoints)?  When I click buy now from the BOGO page it's coming up as $9.99 in my cart. If that's the case, then I'll select something else at the $49 level.

    Sunset 3.jpg

Gotcha.  The 9.99 version is not listed on the 4-For-All page so it shouldn't qualify for entry (especially since there are really no 9.99 or lower options to choose from) so you'd want to choose a different 49.99 option.

And to the other posts, yes APD is taking care of people due to not having the proper disclaimer posted on their site starting on the proper date...  Good to see.
