  1. Those .cwb files can be opened on newer versions, you can copy them to your working folder if you like. If I remember correctly, there should be a folder in the Sonar installation disk for the plugins/soft synths. You could try to install them from those folders without installing Sonar 8.5
  2. I don't remember. There are preamps in the Roland. They can't handle this mic. I'm not going to buy a cloudlifter when the Roland is gone, and I got a new interface that handles that problem.
  3. I'm sure it did. But my old Octa-capture had started to let me down here and there; Low output on some channels, some crackling on the monitor/speaker connections, and even high latency on driver. Plus, it could not handle the Shure sm7b very well.
  4. I actually found the Audient EVO 8 at a local dealer today, and I immediately (bought it) and plugged in to this oddly named "audio USB-C" -Because the motherboard came with this USB to jack-cable, I was afraid it had limited functionallity. Turned out; it didn't. It worked just like I hoped it would; just like a normal audio-interface connection. Thanx, guys! (Byebye, Octa-capture)
  5. So, I wonder if that "audio USB Type-C" is somehow connected to the onboard soundcard or smth.. -Intended for headphones only? Or if it can be used to connect an USB-C type audio interface as well.
  6. My PC has two USB-C ports. One is busy, and the other one is specified as "audio USB Type-C", and the PC came with a usb-c to jack cable. Can I connect my (soon to be mine) audio interface to this one?
  7. Thx, John, but nope. That is not the problem; It is set to max. by this. As in; This is maximum gain from the Roland. Even if I went manual, and set it to max, I get results like this on the Roland. I'm spending the rest of this sunday, choosing between the AUDIENT EVO 8 4/4 Audio Interface, and the Universal Audio VOLT 2 The Roland has to go..
  8. They are two different vocal takes. One from my cabinPC, the other is verse 2 recorded at home withj the Roland. The Roland has very low input volume. It is set by some auto routine, and this time it was set to max. but is still ~9dB lower than the Steinberg at 50%
  9. I started this session in my cabin this weekend, and brought it with me to finish it at home. In my cabin I have a Steinberg UR28M, at home I have a Roland Octa-capture. Input gain on the Roland @max. while on the Steinberg, @ 50% Steinberg left, and Roland right (Record 11) Why does the difference look like this:
  10. I just hope no-one buys the car shop. New owner would reposess my car..
  11. I've had this happen when windows (chrome, or some mediaplayer) will not release the driver after use, or is still using it. My solution has been to assign the realtek driver to windows (under sound icon/setting in the taskbar) And then (re) start Cakewalk. This is the reason I still haven't disabled the onboard Realtek soundcard.
  12. If I power up my Icon Qcon console after I started Cakewalk, Cakewalk offers to add it. I Answer "Yes" and some spinning icon indicates loading. It is added, but it does not work. So I have to restart Cakewalk. Is this an (old) bug, or am I missing some essential setting somewhere?
  13. Wow! That was easy! I did not expect it to be that smooth. Finally I have Cakewalk on a NVMe SSD 2TB. This is comfortable.
  14. A junction might be a solution. Still I do not understand why projects fail to load vst's; or what is the point of the global list in the plugin manager?
  15. I installed one more hard drive, and the old F: is now H: So I corrected letter/path in the plugin manager. (And prefs/folder locations) But it seems my old projects don't care about that, and the vst's fail to load from F: (Because they are not there anymore) I do not/can not change drive letters now. Is there an an easy/smart way to fix the issue?
  16. This could be an example. I want tracks 2, 3, 5 and six to start at the same time as track one for when I export them. So that the recipient can drag them into his DAW with no regard of sync. Just put them in there.. I will export the separate tracks as wave files, and send them to somebody. I consider Scook's latest answer to be the the one I was looking for: "When exporting tracks and buses they default to starting at 0 regardless of where the first clip is located but it is possible to make a time-based selection either before opening the export dialog and/or in the export dialog itself too." Because: I didn't know that.
  17. Is the "Export tracks/buses starting at 0" a choice I can tick at export? (Because, If I start recording at the chorus, the recipient has do do some manual/visual sync) I intend to export the tracks, and send them to others who are not using Cakewalk. But they want to import the wavefiles for each track.. It is not complicated. I have done this by recording a tiny amount at the start, and "bounce to track" It did the trick..
  18. I am NOT starting playback or downbeats at zero. Never did. I just want the clips to start at zero, so I can export them, and then the recipient won't have to worry about sync.
  19. I just need all the clips to start at the same time.
  20. Sometimes I need all tracks in a project to start at bar zero. Even if nothings happen in the first bars. I saw this done once in another DAW, and the operation was named "Consolidate" or smth.. I can do this by starting a short, empty recording from beginning, and bounce. Is there another way that I've missed?
  21. I have also seen this from time to time. Also during recording; The recorded track is then behind the rest of the project when this happens.
