  1. The file format is the same. Themes of any age will load into any DAW supporting themes but the results may not be 100%.

New colors and images are not the problem. When new items are added to themes older versions of CbB and SONAR ignore them.

However, sometimes items are removed or names changed in  the resource files. When this happens themes made against the new resource files will not contain any changes to the now missing items. Loading these themes in old DAWs using the old resource files will cause the themes to look incomplete. Dark themes tend to do worse because of the way themes work.

Of course, anyone can change a theme to suit themselves. Fixing a theme for a particular release is doable. It just takes the will to deal with the theme editor and possibly an image editor.

  2. There is a program in DPro in 12-Bells called 50's Vibraphone.

Rapture Session/Pro make searching DPro and Rapture programs much easier. Before Rapture Session/Pro, I used Windows Explorer to search the program folders:

    C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Programs

    C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Rapture\Programs.

Often times, this was easier than looking the the synth browsers for a particular sound.

  3. Since the introduction of patch points is it possible to directly record audio affected by plug-ins and soft synths. When doing so, it is a good idea to record the raw audio and MIDI data (if any) too.

To record audio with plug-ins use a patch point to send the audio to another track or use an aux track. Record enable both the original track (to capture the dry signal) and the track with the patch point input or aux track (to capture the wet track). For synths see synth audio recording.

  4. I looked through the SONAR Platinum installers and found stretch.ax was included through SONAR_Platinum_Setup_23.10.0.14.exe the last production release.

The hlp file is included in CbB but the binary is not.

Here is an image of elastique Timestretch settings doubling the time of a clip and dropping the pitch 12 semitones

When the tool copy returns into the project it must be slip edited to show the entire clip. Clip length in CbB will not automatically adjust for the new length.

  5. Running either the standalone synth or the DAW as administrator will work when using DP's original activation process. This process needs to write into a protected part of the registry. This was not the case when the plug-in was developed but MS made security changes since that time. Anyway, glad you got it working.

Before installing it said the previous duff version was running and needed cancelling, so clicking on the 'X' to close a running instance of Assistant obviously doesn't actually work.

Clicking the 'X' in the upper right closes the UI but the program continues to run. To shutdown BA, click the gear in the upper left to open Settings then click the Quit button.

  7. Editor is the full single track version. I grabbed the Editor upgrade when registering Essential back in the X3 release. Subsequently Celemony made a good offer on Studio when 4 was released. Studio adds multi-track and sound design stuff but for V-Vocal replacement Editor is what you want.

  8. There is only set of Melodyne files on the PC. The license you add determines whether it is Essential, Assistant, Editor or Studio. Once installed, you will get the updates directly your Celemony account. CbB will not attempt to install Melodyne unless it is selected on the Add-on menu and then it will only happen once for the initial install.
