  1. That's how it's done.

But work safe until you are sure about what you are doing. Move the folder to a different location.

    Usually a project folder contains:

    • one or more related project files
    • an Auto-save copy of each project (if auto save is enabled)
    • versions of the projects (if versioning is enabled)
    • an Audio folder containing the project audio
    • a Melodyne folder containing RFX Melodyne data
    • a MixScenes folder containing mix recall files

The project will still show up in the Start Screen and recent file list until it gets bumped off the lists.

  2. Cakewalk does not have a delete project function.

It is pretty easy to use the OS to delete projects as long as they are created one per-folder.

  3. OK, I spot checked playback from Platinum 2016-12 through current and it works the same.

It appears that playback does merge stereo signals to mono, record does not. I have filed a bug report for this.

Currently to get playback split takes two sends, one panned hard left and the other panned hard right. This will not merge the channels on playback.

Rather than mess with patch points, I would use bounce to trackss) on the original track to create mono tracks or record the two channels as mono tracks from the start.

  4. After creating a track with two completely different sounds on each channel

I changed the track output to a patch point

Added new tracks w/ with one with input set to left patch point, the other with right patch point

    Recorded the new tracks.

Each track recorded the appropriate channel from the original track.

Here is an image of the result of recording the mono patch points into two new tracks.

  5. The default sample rate for new projects is set to 8000. Is this intentional?

If not try setting it to the same sample rate as Windows audio.

Generally this should be at least 44100.

I was unable to increase the buffer size (it was greyed out) .

    This is normal.

WASAPI Shared buffer size is fixed.

All the other driver modes have an adjustable buffer size. Depending on the manufacturer some ASIO drivers also have the slider disabled so their buffer size must be adjusted with the software supplied by the manufacturer.

  7. It has nothing to do with CbB.

I searched for "instant replay" and found an instant replay mode in software bundled with NVidea cards. Is is possible this is installed?

if you could see all the plugins from one track / buss in a tab for example with all controls accessible from one place.

It is almost there if one converts an FX Rack to an FX Chain and docks the FX Chain.

This places all the plug-ins for a track/bus into a single tab. The effects are displayed at the bottom of the FX chain. From there one can open the plug-in UIs, reorder, add or delete plug-ins.

  9. Noel has recommended running scan from preferences over the PIM for years.

The new sandbox and log options are not supported in the PIM.

In the past scanning a plug-in could corrupt memory affecting plug-ins scanned after it resulting in messages like the those described in this thread. Scanning with the sandbox option prevents one plug-in's scan from affecting others.

  10. For now, instead of using Windows minimize try docking plug-ins in Multidock.

Docked effects have a tab with the plug-in name and track hosting the plug-in.

Docked synths have a tab using the name from the synth rack.

I notice you had increased the "buffer playback setting of  512 to 768"

I will add, this still may be too small. My projects are on a 7200 rpm drive and I recently had to bump my playback buffer to 1024 to handle a problem I was experiencing. My guess is the laptop is using, at best, a continuously spinning 5400 rpm.
