  1. Me again. When I press the letter c the Control Bar appears at the top of the page, even though I am not yet in a project. Still, the letter c is not accepted.
  2. I cannot activate Cakewalk because the field box does not accept the letter c. The letter c, as I just demonstrated, but not in the User or Email field. Please help. This is odd.
  3. I did get a warning after I clicked to install. It said something like "this operating system is not supported . . ." That's when I stopped and dropped by to see what you all think about it. Even though I think I put Cakewalk through its paces, mscleod is lightyears ahead of me. Thank you, both.
  4. Hi, I'm still with Win 7 and this November 2020 release does not say it will work on Win 7. Has anyone tried it with Win 7. I know I need to move up to Win 10, tried to upgrade my machine 7 times and after hours of installing Win 10 got a notice that it was not possible and the error code was too vague to figure out why. Anyway, My Corona has moved me into an existence of surviving, and I have to make due with Win 7 for a bit longer.
  5. I just create another occurrence Of that VST instrument because if the first track had any aftertouch the new lane will be affected by the first one, and will have an unintended effect.
  6. Let me see if I can solve my problem by going a different direction. When I want to share the progress of a project I am working on in Cakewalk I export the audio as an mp3. The length of time it takes to mix down the project into the mp3 takes way too long. I thought I might get lucky using Audacity. I set the audio host to Windows WASAPI and it records anything from my computer. Except Cakewalk. Obviously, something strange is going on. Is there anybody out there that specializes in strangeness? Michael
  7. My own update: I've connected to my computer running Anydesk from an iPad Proand an iPhone and it works. The audio is choppy and there still isn't any audio from Cakewalk. Also, I ran Anydesk on a MacBook Pro and it also works. The audio was very good from every application except Cakewalk. The iPad and MacBook were using the same wifi as my ethernet connected Cakewalk computer. I just found out that Reaper behaves the same way as Cakewalk. I can't anything from it on the remote computer. I've tried using Zoom for the audio, but that was a dead end. Did not sound good, at all. If anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate it. Michael
  8. Hello, I’m using Anydesk to remotely record another computer running Cakewalk. I’m running Win 7 and my partner is running Win 10. If I play an mp3 from Audacity or Windows media player On his computer, the audio comes through my system. It sounds great. However, I cannot hear anything when I operate his Cakewalk. He hears it. I don’t. I can see it being recorded, just can’t hear a thing from Cakewalk. I’ve been battling this for a few days and can’t figure out if this is even possible or why Audacity works and Cakewalk doesn’t. I’ve read everything at Anydesk and nothing touches on this subject. Does anyone have any ideas about what would work? Maybe a different remote software. Self quarantining has forced me into working this way where the singer is 100 miles from me.
  9. Years ago I saw Annie and Sting. They were phenomenal. A couple of days later I saw Heart and Ann Wilson just crushed it. Best couple of days of pure singing. Ever. Two weeks later I saw Van Halen. So loud, so crazy. Very disappointed. Years ago I saw Journey. Steve Perry put on a clinic. He was so on-the-mark that he was hitting higher notes than he hit on the album versions. If you’ve ever seen Maynard Ferguson live you’ll know what I am talking about. I was talking with Maynard after the show and his lips were bleeding. I thought I would never pick up my horn again. So many years later, I’m still at it. Can’t get this music out of my system. I am sure you all know what I am talking about. Hav you all seen this Hans Zimmer MasterClass trailer?
  10. Annie is one of the best. A pure singer, no vocal gymnastics. I had to venture into Costco the other day wearing a mask and gloves and Annie’s first 2 albums in my headphones. She took the fear out of shopping. I still may die in the near future from some stray Covid 19 particles. Time to bring out the rosary beads.
  11. Out of the blue (where did that phrase come from?) my old Win 7 computer was crashing, continuously. I solved the problem. It was throttling, so I was running a computer at half horsepower. I saved my power settings as a custom setting based on high performance, so I didn’t think that was the problem, but it was. So I changed it to high performance and that fixed it. I was running for years with the custom setting so who knows what happened, but it did when one of the last 2 updates was installed. Anyway, all is good again.
  12. Have you tried quantizing your midi notes? In particular, note durations. I do a good deal of my work with midi. Although I’m never going to be confused with a midi master I do spend a considerable amount of time making sure my midi notes “look” right in the staff view. Doing this type of housekeeping almost always produces the desired result in audio with zero notes being choked, as you say. M.
  13. This new update is killing me. I have had dropouts before and they were all cured with the next upgrade. Absolutely nothing has changed. I use ASIO driver. It isn’t worth getting into. One day it will be cured. I never use a wireless router with this machine. It had been rock solid for a month before this update. I don’t know why I’m complaining. Well, maybe my big mouth was telling everyone how rock solid Cakewalk has been. I agree with some of the people that said Reaper didn’t have this issue.
  14. This has always bothered me. Is there a way to change the font and font color? I’ve looked and have never been able to solve this, but always figured I’m missing something. Doesn't it seem like an easy situation for the bakers (are the BandLab guys still considered bakers?) to fix? If they can’t fix this, please spend some time with staff editing. Please. And if they can’t do that how about this, give us a hot key to repeat the last function, whatever that function is.
  15. Hello Ray, I am no genius in this area but I have been doing this for the past 3 years. I’m working with a instrumental songwriting partner that gives me a basic structure of a song with a bit of melody and chord changes. Unfortunately, the keyboard sounds are less than appealing. At first, I worked with his terrible drum sounds but I eventually had him just sent me a basic drum track so I could sync it more accurately. I do what you do. I lay out the basic intro, verse, chorus, and bridge sections. This is the basic housekeeping duties that really hasn’t changed except the I find Melodyne is much better at tracking tempo changes. At this point I start working with what I was given. I have a music composing and arranging background so I can’t resist slicing and dicing the bits and pieces and once this is accomplished I then add instruments. i don’t know if any of this helps you but your story is very similar to how my journey started with my songwriting partner. We have now completed over 40 songs. We live several hours apart and my partner does not use Cakewalk, nor any other daw. He uses something like a 20 year old Tascam Portastudio. We use Dropbox to up load tracks to one another. None of this is perfect but as you will find out it can be very rewarding.
  16. I made this year’s resolution to force myself to use and find the benefits of PRV. It’s a big help to see the length of notes and it is great to be able to easily select a specific note in a track. Still, too many years of reading music to give up staff view. I also feel a little smarter using the staff view. Ha.
  17. I want to know this, also. So far, I find using TTS1 the easiest way to play multitimbral midi files. I think there is a way to change the sounds but I don’t have the know how to do it.
  18. MSMCLEOD is correct. I gave up on Melodyne with version 4 after constant crashing. To make sure it just wasn’t taking a long time, I took a 10 second clip and gave it 30 minutes. Nothing. But now, every time I convert an audio clip to midi I load it as a Region FX and have never think about which algorithm it is. Maybe I’m just lucky, but no crashes.
  19. Any 2 people who get in a huff. We witnessed it in this thread, and many others. It wasn’t meant for you. I agree with your post. I don’t want to see this forum turn into a shouting match. Too many things I need to continually learn. M.
  20. It really is ridiculous how quickly replies and remarks are taken to the nth degree. It is difficult enough that the president behaves in this bully manner, but this is a forum where people help one another. Honestly, write your remark and then wait a few hours before sending it. Maybe, just maybe at that point you might see that it is a bit offensive. We don’t become better people, musicians, and nor do we become smarter by acting this way. We just look bitter.
  21. I tried these settings. They didn’t work. But, thank you. I have not changed these millisecond buffers in 10 years. Until recently (the last one or two updates) I’ve never experienced this issue.
  22. Happy new year. I have been having issues I never had before (and I started with the floppy disks). I am using the latest update, 24.11.0.31. Most of them are midi related. I have a Roland XV-5050 connected and usually the first note does not play. I've changed the time when it appears (for example 01:01:010) and sometimes it plays the note, sometimes not. Even if I loop a few measures that note doesn't play. This is where things get confusing. If I get the note to play, other random notes don't sound. I even have this issue with DimPro. Another problem: say I have some tracks playing 12 measures. If I stop the playback and then start it anywhere in those 12 measures, many times several tracks (audio and midi) will not play at all. If I try to replicate that issue I have little success. Yet, it an hour's work it will happen anywhere between 1 and 10 times. Did something new come along in the last 2 updates? I am running an old Win 7 system with an Edirol FA-101 Firewire interface. Usually, it is rock solid and takes over 40 tracks, half of them vst synths, without a problem. But lately, strange things have been happening. If anybody has experienced these types of issues, please let me know. M.
