    Hey Doug,

Yes I'm using AutoHotKey. There's a long thread over on the PG Forums where the idea was gradually developed and tweaked starting around January 21.  Here's the thread...

    https://forums.pluginguru.com/unified-libs/autohotkey-unify-patch-browser/

    Now, the undocumented Unify feature...

When linking macro knobs in Unify to synth parameters, you normally create a list of linked parameters for whatever you are trying to control in the synth.  Taking Phase Plant as an example, the first preset (Analog FM) has a list of Phase Plant macros called FM Amount, Phase, FM PW, Q, Filter Env etc etc.

In Unify you would see these in the Linked Parameters named exactly as above. So, when you create the link it works fine for this preset, but in the next and every other preset, the Phase Plant macros are all different. So, on the face of it, you would need to manually create links from Unify macro knobs to Phase Plant macro knobs for every Phase Plant preset! Quite a job!

However, the undocumented feature which avoids the above scenario, is that Unify normally references plug-in parameters by name, e.g. inst/1/plugin/paramName, but also allows using their 0-based index, e.g. inst/1/plugin/#0 is the first parameter (regardless how it is named), inst/1/plugin/#49 is the 50th, etc.  If you hold down ALT (Option on Mac) when clicking the "+" button to add a new macro-link, you can select the parameter in the usual way, by name, but Unify will automatically substitute the appropriate index instead of the name. Your resulting parameter paths can be created for one patch, and re-used for others where the actual parameter names might be different.  Shane (the Unify dev) made a note to himself to add this to the Unify documentation so it might appear in the manual soon.

Thanks ZincT. I have read that thread thoroughly many times over, and modified a couple of AHK scripts to Unify some of my Zebra libraries. The scripts I found were a year old and somewhat awkward  to use. I was wondering if something more recent had been developed. The videos were for doing Omnisphere which I do not have, but perhaps the principles are the same for other plugins.

Thanks for the info on the undocumented feature. Are you willing to share the AHK code segment that uses the feature? Or even your Pigment 3.5 script?

    I appreciate it guys.

I bought the Kilohearts Ultimate Toolbox a few months ago and always intended to Unify Phase Plant, but there was an issue with handling the macros in Phase Plant (I won't go into the technical details here). It turns out that there's an undocumented feature in Unify which would have made it much easier. So I was planning to Unify it on Friday, but another guy on the PG Forum stepped in and volunteered to do it. I have to say that he has done a great job and even included all of the macro names from Phase Plant on every preset.

    Hey ZincT,

What are you using to Unify your libraries? Are you using AHK scripts? Care to share? I am thinking of Unifying some Spire libraries. What undocumented feature are you referring to?

Maybe not post his registered name (real or not) and leave a permanent public record of it, even if it leaks...

Your point is well taken. However, I will point out that cclarry's real name and association with cclarry is already out there via a soundbetter profile,  his Bandlab profile, Soundcloud, and Bandmix.

But it still doesn't know who Doug Rintoul really is though, right ?

Don't worry Doug, your secret is safe with me... ;)

According to Google, I could be a British theatre director and playwright. Or dead. TBH, I am not too concerned. I have been on  the Internet before it was ever a thing. The first time I Googled myself, I found messages I had written to Usenet back in 1983. So I am aware of what can be dug up on a person. I am not worried about what I have written over the years. It would be just as easy for people to make up stuff about me if they really wanted to give me a hard time.  But being free with with my identity and respecting other people's privacy are two different things. I will be more careful with other people's identity in the future.

Can the "inspired sounds" be played as chords -- like one does with say a synth patch in a multisampler or soft synth --or is more like something you'd play on a controller like MACHINE where you hit a pad and a single sample of say, a chord, plays? As I mainly have only used multisamples this plugin category is not one I'm very familiar with and am trying to figure out how it works and if it might be useful for me or not.

Yes, most definitely the former. When you load a sample into CR8, it turns the sample into kind of a virtual instrument, changing the pitch of the sample as you play up and down the keyboard. And yes, it can be played as chords. The sample is also stretched so that as you play higher notes, so that the sample length stays the same, just the pitch is altered. You need to tell CR8 the root of your sample for it to play right in the mix. Other samplers I have used just speed up the samples to obtain higher notes which is not great if you have rhythm based samples. You can also load up to 8 samples and either layer them or split your keyboard to play them so they only play in a certain range of the keyboard.

Know I want it, question is if I can wait for a (hopeful) GroupBuy in about 4-5 months . . .

Gotta start collecting Orange Slices . . .

How does one collect Orange Slices other than buying VSTis or doing the survey?

So I installed this (and picked up the sampler).  I pointed it at my giant ACID music loop library directory.  Let it scan overnight.  This morning it showed something like 23,000 samples (so it must have found something).  But oddly enough my ACID Loop folder had a count of 0 samples and it wouldn't show anything?   A simple file search says it should have found about 400,000 wav files.

I don't think Cosmos is up to handling a real sample library.

Yes, it looks like Cosmos has a ways to go. I started by adding my giant sample folder but it seemed to choke on it. So I have been adding subsets of my collection a folder at a time. I am up to 232932 samples now but it is still scanning. This thing is very slow. As Carl has said, you cannot rearrange the added folders and the grouping algorythms seem a bit wonky. You would think it would do a better job considering how slow it is. Plus, I really, really want a tree view. So my search for the perfect sample manager continues.

Cosmos has potential and it may turn into a super tool. Just hope Waves can do it in a year so we don't have to WUP it to get the new features and bug fixes🤪.

So far I was able to set path for samples on an external disk with other Waves plugins, hopefully there's an option in Cosmos too for that.

Looks like you should be able to remove the Waves Audio Folder, move to a new location and add it back in again.

Oooh that would be huge oversight... what about mp3?

The free samples it does come with are being downloaded onto hard disk? Anyone pinned down the path? Thx

Pro tip. You can right click on a sample in Cosmos and select "Show in Explorer". On my Windows machine, this opens

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Waves\Data\Instrument Data\Waves Sample Libraries\Waves Audio Factory Pack

  10. Not sure if I should throw this into the mix, but you can run your plugins on multiple machines if you move your licenses to a USB stick. You won't be able to run them simultaneously and you may be hooped if your USB stick goes belly up or you loose it, but it is an option.

SE means Special Edition...code for "scaled down".  Only the full version upgrades your synths to the 2.0 versions

Yes, I understand that. But what does "upgrades your synths to the 2.0 versions" really mean? What additional features does it add to version 1 synths?

yeah, same registered address - looks almost like grandmother is director of both, time+space is shared with son and zero-g is shared with grandson.  Whilst limited companies don't have direct responsibility to each other, a personal guarantee can still have a knock-on effect.

From what I understand, there are currently two Zero Gs. There is Zero G LTD which is a company, and the Zero G brand name under which Stefano releases his sample library.  Stefano uses the Zero G brand name but releases his libraries through Xfonic. LTD.

Got it.  But Cosmos is only a standalone, correct? It’s not appearing on my list of plugins.

Yes, Cosmos is only standalone. I guess CR8 could be considered the plugin portion of Cosmos.

I find it kind of useful actually, given the current semi-chaotic status of my samples. Does buying the $10 sampler make Cosmos useable within my DAW?

It depends on what you mean by usable. I can drag and drop samples from Cosmos onto a track in my DAW without needing to use CR8. I can also drag a sample from Cosmos onto SampleOne, the Studio One sampler. If you are wanting to do more than that, for example to manipulate the samples, define loop points, change the speed, and a whole host of other things, then CR8 will allow you to do that. It is up to you to decide if CR8 is better than the sampler that comes with your DAW.

Agreed.  I really miss the folder view, because a lot of my stuff is already categorized that way.  It took about 8 hours to scan my 82K / 160G of files on an SSD.  So far it does seem to do a pretty good job of identifying the samples.  Interesting that it appears to ignore categories/tempo/key/etc that are in the file names, relying only on analysis.  I will still probably use ADSR more, but this has promise.

I tried to use ADSR, but every time I add sample folder to a folder, the parent folder gets grayed out in ADSR and I have to remove the parent folder and add it back in again for ADSR to be able to access it again. I am guessing you have not seen this bug.

Is it just me or does this thing not detect the content of subfolders?  If so, what a huge oversight and useless tool! It's like they have no idea how samples are commonly delivered and organized.

It does scan subfolders but it does not have a subfolder view. This is actually is one of the features that I am disappointed to not see. I am also seeing that it is very slow to scan. I initially added my whole sample folder but it looked like it would take days if not weeks to tag the whole thing. Right now, I am just adding subsets of my collection to test it out.

Thanks Doug, from what I remember, Zero G was like a production company and T+S was a distributor. That was how I envisage their roles.

Stefano's full quote was "Ethera is distributed in primis by Zero-G, marketed through several channels, like Best Services and T+S. T+S and Zero-G are not the same entity."

As Larry has just stated, they are two separate entities. There is a long discussion on VI-Control with people arguing this fact with Stefano. Kind of funny actually.

    I hope Zero-G will stay

Stefano Maccarelli has stated on the Sample Libraries' facebook page that T+S and Zero-G are not the same entity. So it looks like Zero-G's fortunes are not entwined in T+S's.
