  1. OK Thanks..so the method i talked about is the only way ATM..Roger that.
  2. So does that mean if only want certain trax in my screenset i must manually hide all the trax i dont want to see, save screenset and then go back and unhide the now hidden trax ? that doesnt seem very elegant.
  3. hi all whats the easist way of nominating which tracks and windows i want in a screen set what i want to do is from a large project i. e ...work on only the drums and bass.. do have to minimize all the other trax and save screen set? seems cumbersome. is there a way of nominating what i want and then save screenset...for that matter is screensets what i should be using? thanks
  4. OK i think ive figured it out. i wasnt using the synth rack to setup kontakt..i was crudely inserting a soft synth and then creating a seperate midi track to send to it...no no no . once i used the synth rack all the kontakt tracks showed up in a folder. is this correct because my original kontakt also shows up in the synth rack but i cant convert that to show all the outputs?
  5. hi all ive got kontakt set up with its mixer showing all the outputs i need and i know how to assign them within kontakt but how do i setup cakewalk to have those tracks seperately. i.e. 8 tracks 8 separate drums from kontakt abbey road drums so that i can eq /effect separately and the bounce to track and archive kontakt.. ive been checking out youtube clips but havent found an answer thanks
  6. thanks for the reply... ive got my head in this mix ATM will do some more experimenting when ive finished
  7. Okay tried a few things... delete trax that i tried my comping experiment on and saved project (different name). reopen and try to set record mode from comping to both overwrite and sound on sound both of which crashed cake to the desktop no message just looks like its doing something (busy swirling icon) and disappears.. so im thinking from the lack of response this is not common? is there any way i can remove all comping from the project? all i can say its a good thing ive finished tracking or i would really be %$^$#ed
  8. Hi all . i was just experimenting with comping vocal tracks today which in itself was fairly confusing, but now when i go to change the record mode back to sound on sound ...cakewalk crashs to the desktop no message ...just desktop. i will add that cake very rarely crashs for me and there no plugins in use yet as i am still tracking wish i hadnt of mucked around with it now... wont do it again any suggestions...thanks
  9. try it out later today...its just 1pm here in australia. but it does look good. PS one would think it wouldnt be a great burden on system resources...yes?
  10. thanks Mark that looks just right... it looks light weight (recourse wise) start using it tomm. well done ...thanks
  11. Thanks for the reply Glenn. but it seems to me that my suggestion would be much more efficient and elegant a solution. i remember back in the analog days finishing sessions and writing down all the settings of all the channel strips and it was boring and time consuming ..taking digital photos alleviated that somewhat but attaching them to the project is the last step. can it be that hard to implement?
  12. Hi all. I find myself constantly taking phone pictures of my outboard gear..pre compressors etc so that if i have to go back do additional guitars or vox i can redial in my settings.. but its really tedious. what i would like is the ability to upload the pics to my PC and then attach them to the track description section then when i want to duplicate /recreate settings its just a matter of looking in the track description not trawling thru my phone for the pic. if this already exists ..where is it? coz i looked and couldnt find it thanks
  13. hello dont mean to hijack this thread but i have a behringer x touch mini that i want to use only to manipulate vst eq/compressor etc (not synths) but my problem is i can get it to work initially but after a short period of time it ceases to work. i have tried everything i can think of and spent many days /nights trying to figure it out but with no success and i have given up on it.... but im wondering if your c4 mapper will be of use to me? is this what its designed to do... all i want is the 8 rotary pots to control vst plugs ..i dont care about transport looping or anything else. thanks
  14. thanks Tobias but im not using the cals im using the keybindings that Jonathan suggested
  15. Brilliant!..thats it! thanks Jonathan..... now how do i alter the resolution of the travel.. say i want to move by measures /beats etc? special thanks to Heinz for posting the CALS and to Scook also for cals so just travel res. and im done
  16. thanks for the reply... Heinz..i already have a midi controller but because i have a very smal studio things come out only when necessary...i.e. the controller when i am mixing sound absorbing panels and outboard gear mics etc when recording..but not enough room for both. so i just want to move forward and back easily with the keyboard. Scook..dont know what a CAL is but im gonna find out....thanks
  17. After much googling it seems the best i can do is control/page up-down but i want smaller increments or longer travel just like holding down the rewind /fast forward buttons on the transport. is this do able? Thanks
  18. Thanks Noel that is the solution..works perfect. the only improvement would be if i could drag the cursor in the arranger sections themselves and then hit control /play. rather than moving the now time...never the less this is a good solution ...thanks
  19. yes that is a solution but still tedious and not ideal ,definitely not conducive to work flow. seems like a very round about and laborious way to solve a simple and obvious requirement
  20. thanks Colin but your suggestion is not practical. say ive got vrs 1 going into chrs 3 which is different to chrs 1&2 (and further up the in the timeline )how would i set up markers or loop points to audition this. to me its a drawback that i cant control playback in the way im suggesting when using the Arranger feature. its tedious to wait for a 16 bar section to conclude in order to hear how it works with the next section. but thanks for your reply
  21. SO does that mean that you guys E.G are listening to your whole verse just to hear how it transitions into the chorus? because thats what i have to do... Sorry i sound frustrated its coz i am..i cannot work out how to manipulate the transport whilst playing sections from the Arranger window without the whole thing stopping.
  22. yep thats it thanks. now i want to know how to FF and REw whilst playing from the arranger window..everytime i try to move the transport playback stops and i have go back to the beginning of the Section EG if i want to hear how section A sounds running into Section B i have to play the whole sect A i cant move the Transport towards the end of A coz playback stops. Ive been thru a bunch of Youtube tutorials but none mention this
  23. I can create sections but if i lengthen or shorten them they delete all the tracks in the section... how do i stop it from doing this?
