Nice! My music money has always flowed the same direction -away from me.

Really excellent job by all!!!  I love the driving throughout the song and the build up from acoustic to electric on the guitar.  The video was a perfect complement to the music (or visa versa).

    Congratulations on the HiFi deal!

    Thanks guys!

@freddy j thanks for the comment!

  2. Just had an interesting spin off to my video. A top end Hi Fi company wants to use my music (starting with this one) to use as a demo in their showrooms and on their website.

The best part is that they're paying a decent amount for this.

In this music climate I'll take any kind of new business model for my music.

You can tell experienced musicians when you see them. You guys should be out playing a gig somewhere. Nice work!

Thanks, Starise! We certainly do play gigs, unfortunately due to the Covid restrictions our gigs have been cut to a minimum.

    More great stuff Peter!

    Big 👍's from me.

How fast are you burning through G strings on that acoustic?
I've had 'em separate into little "blocks" of windings between changes.

    Thanks DC!

Yes, I am fairly hard on guitar strings. I use quite heavy gauge acoustic strings, so in order to get any kind of vibrato on a wound third requires an aggressive approach.

    Cheers.

I enjoyed this very much.  The music is very relaxing and has a reassuring tone to it which says to me "The world is still here.  We will all get back to normal soon".

I don't know if that's what you wanted to convey here, but it's all lovely and well put together and I love the video!

    🙂John B

Thanks for your comments, John. It's pretty much my sentiments too.

Glad you like the video. It was a lot of fun putting it together.

    Cheers

Kudos to your percussionist (the rest of it wasn't too shabby either). I really enjoyed that Peter, as I do a lot of your stuff. Thanks for sharing - that video was well worth the effort, really brings the track to life.

    HI Pete.
I always listen to the track first..  and then go and watch the video later.
So my comments here are based just on the sound track first.

I would love to have a go at mixing this track as its the kind of music I like.
(not saying that I can do better... we all paint very different pictures)
    Great musicianship here.

Loved the thumbs up reflection to the drummer🙂

@Lynn, thanks for the comment. Glad to see that you enjoy the videos.

@ Andy - thanks for the comments. I'll be sure to tell Larry.

@ David - Thanks for the comment. Yes, I had to somehow "hide" my poor piano playing, Lol!

@ Gary - thanks for your comments! Yes, Larry is a perfect session drummer.

@ Wookie, thanks for your comments, cheers!

Very nice! Must have been a lot of work put into this. Really like the acoustic and then electric guitar. The percussion is very cool too.  Exceptional.

Thanks so much, Kurt. Yes, it was a lot of work but very rewarding at the same time.

    Thanks for watching.

  9. This is the fourth track from my upcoming album "Big Moving Parts".

I decided to create a rough theme to this video. I think it works in the context of the title etc.

    Hope you enjoy.

    Cheers.

You guys are really good. Great video, pretty cool watching you guys play together. Not being much of a guitar player myself, I don't know what a Kemper is and I always wonder how come the lead guitar player never needs a score sheet?  ☺️

    Thanks, Bjorn!

Basically a Kemper is a digital hardware device that mimics the tone of a miced up guitar amp which allows you to record directly into your DAW.

  11. I would really like to have the ability to copy a file from one project (maybe an older project) of the same song and be able to paste it at exactly the same time on the timeline in a newer version of the song. At the moment I have to make sure that the cursor is in exactly the same place on the newer track to ensure that the audio is pasted in the correct place on the timeline.

To have a "paste in place" option would be great.

    Thanks.

If I were in the market for a Kemper , this one would sell me. They'd do well to get a hold of this for a promo.  Enjoyed it again ..  mark

@ Mark, the Kemper was a game changer for me. The profiles used in the track were my own profiles which I created from my live rig.

Fantastic presentation! The video watching everyone's tasteful contributions, just so classy to watch your production and how you went about it.

You guys all overflow with chops. Keep doing these! And the multicamera treatment was really a treat.

All the more so, because I'll confess that I've never been a huge fan of the compositional stylings of Santana. So holding my interest was not about the song at all, for me - it was about the way you talented guys presented the song.

    Very well done!

Thanks you for your comments everyone! I'm glad you all enjoyed it. We had a great time recording and filming the whole session.

    Much appreciated!

  14. This Santana song is not one of his more popular instrumentals but has been one of my favourite songs for a really long time. I’ve always wanted to do a version of this and thanks to my two very good friends, Dave Sharp and Larry Rose I’ve been able to do just that.

My first thought was to do a completely different take on the song but after listening to the original I realised that the playing, feel etc was perfect.

This is therefore my tribute to a guitar player who had a great influence on me when I was younger and probably still does.

The only change that we made was to lengthen the song. I felt that the original version is just too short.

I hope that you’ll enjoy this version of a beautiful song.

Excellent work. The vid showing the parts is interesting to a studio guy like me ( though not sure of the rest of the GP. Maybe an alternate vid to the music in an artistic slant?).....and it shows this ain't no loops or vst instruments at work. Great skill here . Kudos to all involved.

Thanks Starise! Yes, the video is just to make things a bit more interesting instead of just uploading the audio. I might look at adapting the visuals in the future and make it into a proper music vid.

Very well done indeed! The multiple camera angles and PIPs were very interesting, especially seeing the main and harmony guitars playing at one. It was also cool to see Cakewalk in the background.

Thanks for the comments. It's much appreciated and I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Great stuff Peter, the writing, arrangement, performance, mix and video; really enjoyed the PIP stuff.

Things sometimes "fall through the cracks", its got some traction now.

    t

especially like the way you lay down a melody and every time its repeated its just a bit different.
    ear candy to be sure...

    Thank you DA!

When a track is as long as this one you have to try and keep things interesting by changing the parts slightly. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  18. Thanks so much to everyone for the comments!

@Mark, well that's the first comment I've seen so far about a 12 minute track been too short 😀 Thanks for the kind words.

@ Lynn thank you! I was a big Line 6 Helix fan but I have to say I think that the Kemper definitely has the edge.

@Grem Thank you for your comments! Yes, Larry often doesn't get the credit that he deserves. Bear in mind he is a fantastic drummer who is capable of so much more but is always aware of over doing things in the studio. That's what makes him the ultimate session drummer.

@ emerald soul Thank you for your comments. The profiles were created by me and are profiles of my Marshall JCM2000 TSL using the MI Audio Super Crunchbox, MI Audio Super Blues Pro and Marshall Drivemaster pedals. I have three Sony HD video cameras and use these in conjunction with a Go Pro which I mounted above the drums. I also have two colour bar lighting rigs in the booth which are permanently setup via a colour mixer.

@Nigel Thank you for your comments. They are much appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Peter.
