  1. Curious. I have one pretty much new in the box. Presently I am using NEW Fousrite 18i20 3rd Gen. Not happy with it, mostly my shortcomings, not the Focusrite. Thanks
  2. I have Win10x64 Pro, latest updates etc. If I decide to do the free 11 upgrade will it give me win 11x64 Pro, like my present win 10? hope that makes sense-Thanks
  3. So, I have been fooling with the ProChannel presets for vocals and adding Rematrix Solo reverb ( or Breverb 2, Reverberate64, NeoVerb and others. at the end of some of them. Seem better than my attempts so far with all the other plugs I have, which are many.
  4. Amazing price for these days-I have a Noctua D15-pretty similar size wise. Not sure if it will accommodate LGA1700? For $45 I am very tempted just to buy that 🙂 Thanks very much Pathfinder
  5. I am going to 12th I think. I have read 13th gen really needs liquid cooling to run best. I am a fan guy. Huge fans and they work for me. Anyone remember a company named Multiwave? For many, many years I would go to their site and but a MB\cpu\cooler\minimal stuff just to test it and then Ibuild from their. I cannot fin anyone that does that anymore. reason being my arthritis in my hands doesn't really really hurt my guitar playing but building from complete scratch, A PC gets tougher every year. Not to mention my poor eyesight. Thought about Jim R but I don't think he does such bare bones stuff. Guess I should ask. m.2 hi end samsung stuff are fairly new and I want to reuse them in new PC. Thanks for all the info
  6. Well, since I have no issues with I guess I'll stick for a while. Bought 2 x64 Pro versions (legal) way back. Why? end of 10 security updates. Thanks for the input!
  7. I have had 2 legal win 11x64 pro thumb drive purchases for quite a while. With reference to CWB, Next, etc various music apps) Will I really see any improvements if I finally do install it? I am running fine now and figured it was time for a fresh win 10x64 install (been 3 1/2 years) So? Any opinions welcome Thanks folks Pathfinder Frank
  8. Just had to circle back and say THANKS AGAIN to all who helped..........................stuff getting better (and clearer) every day............................
  9. I definitely a, somewhat compressor Illiterate than you very much. I am very well versed on SINGING lead vocals and playing guitars---Thanks I will check that out tomorrow o sure. Haven't been using the Pro channel much since i got all the Izotope and waves stuff. But I remember I grabbed manny add on PC stuff when they were available-I do miss it actually and thank you for the suggestion about he PC2A Lever module. Have to add this to my notebook of CW tips 🙂 Thanks
  10. Appreciate the input. I will do that but I will continue to learn about Vocal compression- I am retired so all I do is pay my guitars and record 🙂 BTW noticed, I have the same Focusrite. Does much more than I need....Still learning that to since I used an Echo Layla 3G forever.
  11. You assumed correctly . I am NOT comfortable with compressor controls. I have been reading and watching different videos on vocal compression. I need more and I will. Thanks
  12. OK so, as statedt he vocal sounds OK, better than when we started. BUT, I thought it was because of the printed track. But when I MUTE the printed track there is no difference at all in what I a hearing. But when I look at the de-esser and compressor in that track they are reacting to the vocal. If I solo the printed track it is LOW and LIFELESS? Guess I didn't learn as much as I thought I did. Maybe I'll stick to the end production compression and all.
  13. Ok dumb question-Do you mean on the way in or in he FX bin after? As far as sounding better. Feel like an idiot!
  14. The vocal, just an old ballad sounds so much better to me since this thread started. It's nice when you get what you wish for. Thanks so much folks. I have many plugins but, for waves CLA Vocals and a touch of Breverb 2 or reveberatex64 sound fine to me. I am using the Izoptope stuff for the "printed FX track. This is a good Sunday. Of course I am not done learning and using what's in this thread alone. Thanks again
  15. Thanks. I am copying the thread comments into a word doc. School is fun and needed 🙂 I don't use AutoTune. Not to sound like a jerk but I am a very good singer-. I am sure I waiver here and there, but I want that. weird I guess. Been the lead singe in every band, trio and duo I have been in and also about 30 years of solo, me and an acoustic.
  16. Getting confused now-maybe a better vocal mic-just kidding. I think. The CM5 was great in it's day. Made by Stellar I think and a great copy supposedly of a very famous vocal mic. Actually one of the OLDER forums (Glennbo and others is where I remember reading about this CM5 many years ago. This is the mic, I bought it new when they came out: Stellar CM5 Tube Condenser Microphone (C12/ELAM251 Inspired)
  17. Wouldn't recording an ADDITIONAL vocal track and trying Wills suggestion still leave me with a dry vocal recording (no FX printed). This is a question. I us very few tracks since everything but My vocal and my guitar are live, everything else VSTs Only 3 of them)
  18. Going go look at this right now- I never have. Perhaps after 30+ years I will actually start to learn to use CW a bit better-THAT is my goal here in my older years! Thanks very Much
  19. I know I tend to ramble and OVER explain the issue.. Never on purpose 🙂
  20. I never said they sound BAD and I certainly know you cannot fix garbage. I am not talking about garbage. Just BETTER than they are. I just have been researching quite a bit about vocals. I mean just putting the Waves CLA Vocals plug with some adjustments in the vocal FX bus makes a world of difference. Thing is I keep reading about (yes OUTBOARD FX) putting a compressor, for instance on the vocals on the way in. sorry I cannot explain things in super record nerd terms, I am trying, I am a guitar player first. Yes, had CW since the 90's. But just used it in the simplest ways since the bass, drums and keys VSTs always sound the way I want and so does my recorded electric and acoustic guitar parts. Hope that explains it a bit more clearly. Just lookin for help, is all. I'll put in the work but I need to read it and\or watch and listen to tutorials-for me anyway!
  21. I need to do some searching on the optimize issues. I would have thought an 11thgen i7, 32GB Hi Performance ram and ALL newer NVMe.M2 samsung drives would be enough. evidently not. It really only happens if I try to use the Nectar 4 advanced asst that states "Customizing the Process". Oh well. Thanks very much for the input!
  22. Hope the title makes sense. I have never tried using plugs (like compression\EQ etc on the way IN of the vocal recording. Just old habits, not good habits. Always recorded clean and then added FX etc later. I imagine outboard compressor etc would be best but I have to use what I have=zillions o plugins Mostly waves and Izotope. Now vocals always come out OK after processing but I know they could be much better. Vocal mic options I have are CM5 large Dia Condenser mic, Shure SM58beta and a few lesser ones. IAH, I want to leave a nice recorded cd for my family and friends. Better late than never. I was always too busy (my excuse for not learning more over 30 years with CW) playing out in bands etc. EDIT: I use midi and VSTS for Drums, Keys and bass-THey always sound fine. My guitar also sounds fine. My recorded vocals are, well-HELP! Thanks
  23. I thought since Ozone 10 advanced, Neutron 4 advanced, Nectar 3 plus, etc never bothered somewhat modern PC nectar 4 advanced would be OK. Evidently not. No refunds of course. Thanks for the reply Treesha
