  1. Wow, impressive amount of music you've been involved in! What kind of stuff do you play at the solo/duo gigs?
  2. Thanks! Great work, guys! πŸ˜„ Really looking forward to try this!
  3. @RobertWS The behaviour captured in your animation is what you get if you duplicate with snap set to Snap To Whole. If you set Snap By Whole the pasted notes will be placed with the correct offset. Also note that Snap By for Duplicate Clip was fixed in 2020.01, in case you're running an older version. I don't know why Duplicate Clip with Snap By isn't more celebrated! It's the best thing since Aux Sends! 😁 Addition: I like that Duplicate Clip is flexible and respects the Snap settings... but that kind of also slows things down a lot. Before duplicating something, you always have to double check the snap settings and sometimes modify them. And for me, duplicate is about speed. Part of me wishes there was a way of locking Duplicate to your preference (like Snap By Whole) for super-quick and idiot proof operation.
  4. I thought it could be a fun and inspirational thread to hear what kind of stuff you do with Cakewalk and in what circumstances! I just read that someone uses Cakewalk in radio shows every weekend and I've seen a lot of other exciting uses. I myself? I produce electronic dance music in my home studio (mainly techno these days) releasing it on independent labels all around the world. Please tell us your Cakewalk usage story!
  5. @David Murray You actually also have to enable the "landmark button" (don't remember the correct name now) for your landmark snap settings to take effect. It's the button with the flag, to the right of the By/To switch. Should work great then!
  6. In Cubase there's a "Find track" icon just at the top of the track list, check it out below. It basically presents an overview of all tracks and let's you jump to a track. Maybe that's better/faster than live filtering of all tracks?
  7. Many projects have a lot of tracks, so to facilitate finding the right track quicker, how about implementing a track find/filter feature? It would change the display of tracks in real time based on searching all track names. CTRL + F or something could be used. πŸ’‘ Usage example: Type "strings" = shows all string tracks Type "slap bass" = did I have a slap bass track somewhere? (now, why would you? )
  8. I will be waiting before jumping on this particular train, for sure... πŸ™‚
  9. Hm, maybe check the interleave button on your buses as well? (I sometimes check for mono compatibility by switching to mono on the master bus.) Good luck!
  10. You should send a minidump to staff. Although Morten wrote above that the final 2020.05 would drop early next week, so any potential fix for your problems will probably not make it for this release...
  11. That's not to say that it can't or won't be improved upon in the future, of course. And "inferiority" might have been too strong a word for a nuanced discussion, but it's clearly not "simply better".
  12. For a long time, I kind of refused to realize the inferiority of the VST3 standard... but U-he made me change my mind: https://u-he.com/support/faq.html#troubleshooting:vst3-issues
  13. Awesome! (I can't believe you work that fast!) I believe Morten had it listed under "Misc" actually: πŸ˜‰
  14. @msmcleod Fantastic news, thanks for all your hard work! While you're adding new keyboard shortcut targets, could you maybe add Archive Track as well? I don't mean to sound ungrateful though!
  15. Hi all! Am I missing something or is it currently not possible to assign a keyboard shortcut for "Rename clip"? It would enhance workflow a lot if it was possible... And is it just me, or is the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog in Preferences veeeery slow and jerky? It would be awesome if it could get some code optimization love. πŸ˜€β€οΈ
  16. Thanks a lot for your nice response, azslow! I haven't dared to go down the ACT rabbit hole yet, but thanks a lot for the instructions. πŸ‡πŸ•³οΈπŸ˜‰ About NKS: I kind of assumed the plugin had to be NKS-compatible for it to work, but I will give it a try and get back!
  17. Hi guys! I would like to control VST plugin parameters using external hardware knobs, but how do I do that? The parameters are exposed as VST parameters, not MIDI CC:s (so the plugin does not have MIDI learn). I use MIDI CC:s all the time but this one has me stumped... πŸ€” I tried msmcleod's tip of putting a plugin in the Pro Channel, and the Pro Channel knobs have "Learn knob" but I can't get those PC knobs to react using my hardware (Komplete Kontrol S49)... Any ideas? Thanks! Edit: I can map knobs on normal Pro Channel modules by right clicking on them and selecting "Remote Control". There I can easily connect, say MIDI CC 21 from my hardware to that specific knob. But the knobs in an FX Chain don't have the "Remote Control" option in the right click menu... 😐 Edit 2: The "Learn Knob" on Pro Channel FX Chain knobs is only about connecting it to a plugin, not to external hardware. πŸ€₯
  18. Hehe, I hear you! I'll give it a try! But the more I think about an indicator that tracks are filtered, the more I like the idea. It reminds me a bit of Excel - if you have filtered a column, the text "Filtered" appears in the bottom status bar to remind you that you are not looking at the full spreadsheet. I think it's a fitting analogy - in Cakewalk you are kind of "filtering" the track view. πŸ€“
  19. I produce electronic dance music and don't really do any "external" recording of vocals or instruments, but I think I tend to keep too many options open anyway, saving a lot of unnecessary stuff in my projects... πŸ™„ Do you guys hide a lot of tracks? I find it a bit "scary", since there's no indicator that there are hidden tracks in the session. I recently hid a bunch of tracks and then forgot about it a day or two later, causing a lot of confusion and searching until I finally realized they were hidden... πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ
  20. I'm a huge fan of Duplicate and will check tomorrow and get back to you. πŸ‘
  21. I sometimes quickly search for duplicated notes by stepping down in the Event List (or whatever it's called) while at the same time looking in the PRV. If I press the down arrow twice in a row without moving forward in the PRV, it's a double.
  22. I appreciate the difficulty of starting with a new DAW... 😫 Luckily, there are some good tutorials out there that might help, here's just two of them. πŸ˜€ I've cued them to where they talk about recording:
  23. I'm sure they will since you're asking so nicely... πŸ˜‰ I realize this won't help your old projects, but I've never had to use mono->stereo plugins, since in Sonar/Cakewalk, on a track containing a mono wave file, you can just click the Stereo button in the Inspector (or Console, apparently) and then start adding stereo effects. Works brilliantly! From the manual: "The Mono/Stereo button in each track forces the track’s audio signal to enter any patched plug-ins as either mono or stereo, whether or not the tracks are mono or stereo. This allows you to use either mono effects on a stereo track or stereo effects on a mono track."
  24. First of all, I love what you guys do and am super grateful! All I'm saying is that evaluating new things takes time even if everything goes perfectly. And, from time to time, small gremlins might also show up... after all, this IS software we're talking about. I work in IT, so maybe I'm just damaged... πŸ˜‚ @Noel Borthwick @Jonathan Sasor Oh and I never got to thank you guys properly for Duplicate Clip! It was something I longed for for years. And now that it respects Snap By, I am in techno drum programming heaven! It's the best thing since sliced loops! 🎚️🎹😁 You guys rock!
