  1. There's a version of the work score that has reference with ...... uh......... certain good fortunes with the opposite *****.... Say no more - nudge nudge.. Wow I guess I should have spelled that sects..... score 1 for artificial intelligence.
  2. Glad you got this sorted out : I've used Independence for many years. I bought it as a separate program before Magix bought it from Yellow tools. I also have a version of Samplitude ( Pro X2 I believe ) . I have a very big fear of loosing it if I upgrade. Luckily I am not locked to Samplitude with my version - but I fear that I will be someday. It's confusing to sort out the same programs when there are multiple licensing involved. Great Sampler - too bad Magix didn't invest in upgrading and expanding - I thinks it's far superior to Kontakt in many regards to it's basic design.
  3. I have JBL LSR308's. I also have Tannoy Reveal 8D's which are very good. I own a pair of MAudio BX5's as well. The Maudio are fine speakers but the low end rolls off at about 55hz. Fine for general playback for a compact - but I wouldn't recommend for critical tracking or mixing. The LSR 308's are very good for general playback - especially for general monitoring when composing , the Waveguide has an enormously wide field and they're great when you're moving around and changing positions for things like tracking in a home studio. They're very good for the dollar. The Tannoys are the best for critical mixing - they're smooth, efficient and detailed. It may also depend on how much space you have for monitors and room dimensions. 300.00 for a set of used JBL308's would be money well spent - you might be able to find them new for a little more than that price.
  4. Nice article indeed - thanks for sharing that SOS link.
  5. I'd like to add how nicely the - " chief of all things awesome" responded. Thanks Noel.
  6. Male sure your recording is set-up as " Overwrite " mode and not " Sound on Sound ". Hover the mouse over the Record button and a drop down menu will open so you can quickly change methods.
  7. I recently bought an Electro Harmonix Expression Pedal from Chicago Music Exchange. Petty cheap and seems to work well.
  8. I've removed the spring on a couple of controllers I've had. It works better for set and stay kind of controller moves. Usually pretty easy - but I've never done it on a Roland Controller
  9. Not sure if this would help at all - but in staff view there is a place to type lyrics along the staff line that would scroll along with playback - I think that can be docked to a second screen. I've never tried it - but it might be worth a look to see if it would work. Sorry - I just re-read your OP - Looks like you tried this already - nothing to see here....
  10. Glad you got it sorted out. - I'm curious - do you have any problems using the Mercury or the Tungsten themes ? These are default - and should show everything pretty clearly. If there's a problem with either of these then you might have a general graphics issue with CbB
  11. Ok - I was able to get CbB to recognize the updated path for Kontakt 5.8 - life is good. I did switch out and a few of the VST paths and re-scanned and got that main issue working. I was able to dis able a few rogue VST's with the Plug in manager to keep CbB from offering up duplicates of Kontakts' earlier versions. Unfortunately there are a number of VST's I wish I could disable by not scanning in the first place - but those VST paths point to a large number that I do need. I'm not in a position where I can re-install and authorize all of the software from a fresh state. As it is, there are over 700 VST's across about 10 different VST paths. There are a lot of legacy files across several different DAWS to keep everything relatively healthy. Thanks all for the help.
  12. Thanks to all for the advice - I'm having a go at it this afternoon. I'll be able to wire my daw up to get online again - I remember some of the native access information - I did install from the Native Access update paths and not from a download. The issue is that this is an inherited DAW and I have not done all of the initial installs - so sorting out all of the paths is a bit of a pain, There are a lot of VST paths to chase down, and I get lost in the adventure of it all. There are still multiple versions of Komplete on this computer ( 6,8,9 I believe - plus at least 2 earlier version of kontakt. It's a mess - but I've only been able to transfer about 1/3 of the licenses, so I can't really start from scratch as I would prefer. Thanks Jon D - that is what I expected to find as well - but, it seems that the paths were not as clean and clear as I'd hoped. I'll figure it out, your confirmation that it over wrote the existing Kontact DLL is good information.
  13. I did attempt to follow each of the VST paths.... there are about 7-8 different paths and I didn't have any luck. I found a utility online that sort of a specialized search called - Ultimate plug-in tool ... I'm going to try it out tomorrow- see if I can run it down. I'm a little learly of trying to mod the registry, but I understand that it can be fixed if I can find older dll path.
  14. Title says most of the issue : I've updated Kontakt from 5.2......something or other to 5.8. Stand alone works well. I tried to re-scan ( manuel ) but my projects still call the older version. I searched like crazy to find the DLL - no luck there. Any advice ?
  15. Happy birthday to that guitar - for sure.
  16. Try and toggle the view from clips to notes - see if they show up. Do you see them when the track is not selected?
  17. " Large Midi" can mean different things : I can have 20-30 midi tracks pointing to 4-5 VSTi and likely 10 -15 " onboard " processing VST plug-ins with 12 gig of ram and operate at 64 buffer and be really rock solid. I can also play through an amp VST in real time with nearly zero issues with latency. I can have half of those midi tracks pointing to hardware synths - and it all runs very smoothly - predictably. My system is really pretty old and running Win 7. I don't plan to update the OS at any time. My use of Appollo plugs is usually pretty limited, maybe 2-3 at a time.
  18. I used the Baritone Sax in Independence pro a few times. It's part of the candy collection : which is a pretty good sax library generally.

    WTF? LOL!

    WTF - Why that's funny !....

    Everything staccato

If you look generally into Midi issues asked on the forums - the first order trouble shooting something out of the ordinary is to check and test that your midi buffers is set appropriately - or high enough. A second cause is to trouble shoot via the event list view what Midi note on and offs are doing in relation to your performance. Then look at controllers to make sure you are not sending a controller signal that is affecting the instrument. VSTi's are getting more and more sophisticated - which really means complicated.
  21. I would suggest that the combination of arraignment, instrumentation choice and finally band limiting where the instruments sit in relation to each other - which point back to arraignment and instrument choice. One thing I am learning is that a nice full frequency spectrum sound on more than 1 or 2 instruments has a more negative effect.
  22. If you are describing the track length ? Set the grid to 1/8 note - then hover the mouse on the right side of the track - it will switch to an arrow - click and drag to the right. It should increment by 1/8 notes. If the grid is switched off, then you can drag the track to where ever you like along the time line. You should look for videos on you tube for cakewalk. there is a very good help PDF on the forum as well. https://bandlab.github.io/cakewalk/docs/Cakewalk Reference Guide.pdf
  23. I checked out the Demo's for Straight ahead Bass - great find, yea you got a good deal for that.
  24. Craig - are the presets processed with any additional panning assignments? I can definitely hear the band separations and they clean up the drive and distortion signal nicely, I'm not seeing any blocks that are addressing panning specifically. Is the widening achieved by different cab IR's ? Nice trick either way and that looks like a lot of work ! Nice sounding for sure. I've just started re-building a pedal board / Rack effects and multi amp set-up. Not fair pointing to a Helix at this stage !
  25. I bought Orange tree Pear Bass - and it works pretty well. I have Ample bass as well. I think I like Orange Tree more so - but I haven't really used it in about a year, can't quite remember the details of it. I do seem to remember that it has some drive to it when using higher velocities.
