  1. Yes sorry I have mine also but what you don't get is the x3e the last patch that felt like a stable product Of if you bought an upgrade to producer you wouldn't have install discs
  2. If it is unopened there is no way to know if Cakewalk will give you the registration code. From this distant memory the box contains a serial number, then you need to give that to Cake to get a registration code. Once you have both in hand, it can be off-line authorized. Since they discontinued X3, it would be a bit risky as Cakewalk may not give you the code you need to actually unlock it at this point. I've seen an unopened box show up on the market before - but it wasn't cheap - assuredly more than the new Sonar will cost. Also note they also were no longer shipping discs, therefore you also have the battle of getting the installer if they are not registering new accounts any longer. I went through my account and downloaded some of the installers yesterday to make sure I at least had an option if things go south here.
  3. "(less than what anyone paid for SONAR platinum" Well that is a really broad range. And that was also the flagship product....if they had said "Artist" I think I'd feel a bit better about the situation and expectations.
  4. Over the past 3 years there have been an absurd amount of opportunities for $40 + $25 off voucher opportunities when you factor in the weekly discount codes they would send for specific products which could be stacked. It is true that between the 32-40 range of things that you couldn't get for free (with a $20 no min spend gift code) were a bit more rare. The problem is lots are $39.99 during those deals which wouldn't qualify - thus this is actually a major change. That only lasted for maybe a couple months and then went right back down to the way it was for years. They also did this due to a rather generous $50 bundle that was out and they didn't want to let anyone get it for $25. So frankly it isn't a good example.
  5. Correct, though the working theory is they apply a 12 month spend rule historically. So Oct spend would in theory have relevance to what they send you next year and for how long. Just another sign the new owners just realized the market shifted in the post lockdown + suffering economy world.
  6. You are correct either the post was sarcasm or the deal got worse Good news is that sort of raises the value of what I have and less likely to feel the need to buy more. The pop up store for me is the potential area of impact that may fall under that $40 point
  7. This is a fairly new development in the Cakewalk world, the X versions and number versions before that used a a serial and redemption code process that didn't keep phoning home for confirmation. I don't remember if they added this during the Platinum/lifetime days or if it was a Bandlab addition, but the last X3 products didn't stop working if you disconnect from the Internet for 7 months.
  8. Because they don't want to imply they will continue to offer customer support for the product. You can discontinue development but still offer customer support. This notion points to Dev work will stop and eventually customer support will also. While most don't need customer support, those that do can be a massive burden on resources.
  9. Discontinued and no longer developed is expected...no longer authorized is a massive difference and I don't see that implication.
  10. Got a quote on that? I've seen nothing that I indicates the idea the final version of Cakewalk won't run into the foreseeable future even when Sonar is released. I think they would have a riot on their hands from the lifers.
  11. Never been a fan as his tone is grating and I can't comprehend that many notes. That said between what I've been exposed to of both Yngwie and Lynch...Yngwie is dramatically more melodic. He writes stuff you can hum, assuming you are a hummingbird of course.
  12. Doesn't work that way. The 1 yr til wup starts once you claim this deal.
  13. I've got a number of their plugins but I have a very hard time believing I could sell the collection for much more than the cost of WUP. The math of what someone might pay for them isn't pretty and the cost of WUP is ugly.
  14. Very different product. But similar in that is it WAVES and all the baggage that goes with it.
  15. JamPoints = real discount on ToneX pedal
  16. Given UMG seems to have the most aggressive anti-fair use practices this could be interesting....
  17. I'm aware, was simply calling into question the thread title. I've had this for years.
  18. New product? I thought this has been on the market for at least a decade.
  19. I have a coupe of the other "fire" plugins, didn't even realize this one was another one. Might deserve it's own thread so it doesn't get lost in the mix here. Seems like more people would be likely to have this as buying something from Melda in the past to get it is probably more common than buying from United Plugins (though I've done both as I appreciate the authorization system and not treating customers like a threat to the business).
  20. Take a look a Melda's Superlooper if you are looking to do "live looping" style stuff with a VST inside a DAW. Frequently goes on sale for 50% off, and there is a $10 sign up for newsletter bonus and if you search for referral codes that knocks another 20% off (if you are not already a customer)
  21. Assuming you can afford the HD space. I already had it, but pretty sure even the "free" install is going to be north of 4GB due to IKM's installer puts the whole suite on your computer and then puts everything you don't own in a trial mode.
  22. Correct, it says this somewhere in the language but I can't find it to copy and paste. It only applies to people that have spent money in the portal not just redeemed as far as I could tell. Nice freebie (for those that supported them financially in the past)
  23. Is the UI resizable?? 🙃
  24. Guess I was right (first reply). What is the email offer? Many of these plugins used to be $2. (edit - I just got an email too - though only for 2 of the upgrade coupons - $5 each though I own more that I'm betting these things are based on). Upgrade price of $5 is assumably more than I paid for each of them other than Union which was likely a few bucks more (though they didn't send me a discount code for that cross over)
