You mean GB, right? 4TB for an amp plugin would be insane hahah

Download speeds are super slow right now, I should have installed before letting you guys know haha

    Yes, woops.  Corrected post.

Download speeds were fine when I tried it after your post yesterday on my end.

One of the comments in that insolvency thread says it all... "Switching to DaVinci Resolve." The free version is already more capable than most apps and if you ever need Studio (for many this is highly unlikely) it is a one-time $295 (that upgrades forever after, at least thus far). There is a YT video somewhere very damning to Adobe... $600/year for Premiere Pro/Mocha versus a one-time payment of $295 for the same feature set. Resolve is one of the few apps with a free version that has very few limitations to it; very well worth learning since you can do your thing and seamlessly jump to Studio should that day ever come.

I like resolve but they really need to work on optimization in the free version.  Needs a powerful machine to even work on content I created 10+ years ago with Premiere Pro CS6 on a 15+ year old machine.

    You mean video products?

Surely Samplitude, Sequoia, Music Maker and Sound Forge would have their futures secured.

Yes, I think I saw more about the Video side, but revenue was hurting over all and makes me wonder if they will streamline offerings across teh board.

Ex.  Sound Forge obviously has more than 1 tier of product.

FYI, Magix has filed for Insolvency fairly recently: https://www.cined.com/magix-producer-of-vegas-pro-files-for-insolvency/

They "intend to sustain their operations until a new investor is secured"

    That is sad.

Marketing on the site seems different - as it seems like there was talk about going forward with Vegas but killing off other products in the stable.

I personally use VIDEO PRO X series instead of Vegas.

    It's up to 1.8 Gb!

Previous releases usually state expected over 4GB after unpacking.  This is arguably the only software that I don't care that it is that absurd.

I do delete the installers though that are close to 2GB as those add up with all these frequent updates.

Sadly, Scaler seems to be devolving towards a focus on promising instant song creation rather than serious chord melody analysis.

I use it by feeding it chord progressions that I have "composed" by ear, a task which was purportedly Scaler's purpose.

But, after it does its best job at analysis, I still have to guess which one of its guesses most closely describes the scale hidden within the movement of the chords I have supplied.

I don't need an endless collection of arpeggios, bass lines, beats, etc. to lay on top of my progression.

I already hear those in my head. I wanted to use Scaler as a fast and convenient way to identify scales and suitable harmonies, and it has not proven to be especially good at that.

I expected more,  but I have found that each update has accustomed me to receiving less.

Are you feeding it MIDI for this task?

I'd tend to expect something similar as each scale will have overlap of notes and it will then have a "percent" match and the composer may want to use one that isn't the highest percent match especially if you are looking at a progression that doesn't fit neatly across all of them.

Oops, 2.9 prolly means I’ll soon have to pay for 3. And I never even tried 2 (or 1 for that matter).

Yes, 3.0 will be a paid upgrade.

Not even trying v2 is sad.  One of the only VSTs I think is actually worth the money (perhaps more valuable to someone like myself with decades of playing guitar but limited keyboard use)

But no free shipping at that price point. At least in the EU

Was about to pull the trigger but $16 US shipping is excessive.

Have to think about it (Have two of the full size ones already)

I’ve been avoiding Tonex. I have AmpliTube and every single one of the the other million amp sims out there. I don’t really understand Tonex to be honest. I also don’t understand the different versions. I read someone in a forum saying he regretted buying Max as it didn’t really offer him much more than what he got in SE. I know there’s obviously different captures but as I said I don’t understand it. Not sure I really understand the whole capture thing when it comes to it.  I’ll probably buy Tonex Max anyway if it goes on sale for €79.99 again. (Which it undoubtedly will).

Just buy the pedal and a whole bunch of 3rd party packs and then throw the other software in the trash can.

Pedal give you the physical pedal plus Max.

I argue that you don't need max, but that also assumes you buy 3rd party packs which is going to add up to real money.

The problem with max is that IKM didn't capture each amp using the same cab and mic combo across the gain range so you are left with random captures of an amp.

The difference between ToneX and everything else is realism of sound and feel of a micd up rig combined with the ecosystem of both hardware and software that sound the same.

It is just amp, reverb and comp...no other effects chains.

SE vs Max is the number of amp and profiles you get from IKM but either give you the ability to import from others or create your own.  Lots of great free captures but paid packs (or capturing your own gear) is where ToneX really comes to life.

IKM created great tech, but could have used a different approach to the captures they made in house.

If you have jam points use them to get the pedal is my advice.

And if you really only work in the box, getting AXE solo on sale which comes with SE would be the other deal.

Surprised this hasn't been locked yet,  Never hurts for people to edit their posts to avoid such things.

There isn't any political reference to actually edit.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone NOT use auto tune on pop songs these days.

Is there a Dogma movement for music production, like the used to be for movies?

Melodyne is used a ton instead.  😁

Just a head's up...  If you misplace a knob on these units, you are s.o.l. when it comes to IK.  Someone returned one of mine on a project, and apologetically returned it missing a knob and the company said "This is not a spare part we have generally available unfortunately.".  They don't have any replacements, don't offer any, and cannot recommend any source of replacement.

I think I'll be able to track something down, but I got the feeling from my interaction with them that they give zero farts.

    Terrible.

I've got 2 of them but this kind of thing confirms my suspicion that IKM really has some growing to do on the physical guitar product front.

They feel well built, but you also have to account for the fact that these things are meant to take some abuse - being stepped on, tripped over, etc.

  14. I updated this when it was released, great to have an option on the pedal - though wish it was good enough to replace my Sonic Research tuner.

I ran a test tuning the best I could with TONEX, then checked against the SR TT and some strings needed refinement.

Yeah. This is essentially not a deal since most of those plugins have been available for $29.99 or below.

Now, even with the voucher, most plugins are more expensive than that.

Basically, whole thing makes no sense whatsoever.

They have had sales like this for many years - where it isn't the best price but it also isn't the every day price.

BX Enhancer likely hasn't been below $30 though which is what this deal would offer.

This sale might be a strategic move to make future sales look better.

  16. I'd be shocked if they haven't hit the number already - but haven't seen anything and agree they likely won't rush to change the wording or to send it out - as that will certainly get posted in a variety of places the extra deal is off.

I grabbed it in less than a hour of the OP with hopes to get Galaxy as that is likely of more appeal to me than this one knob, 3 flavor saturator is.
