  1. Just buy the pedal and a whole bunch of 3rd party packs and then throw the other software in the trash can. Pedal give you the physical pedal plus Max. I argue that you don't need max, but that also assumes you buy 3rd party packs which is going to add up to real money. The problem with max is that IKM didn't capture each amp using the same cab and mic combo across the gain range so you are left with random captures of an amp. The difference between ToneX and everything else is realism of sound and feel of a micd up rig combined with the ecosystem of both hardware and software that sound the same. It is just amp, reverb and comp...no other effects chains. SE vs Max is the number of amp and profiles you get from IKM but either give you the ability to import from others or create your own. Lots of great free captures but paid packs (or capturing your own gear) is where ToneX really comes to life. IKM created great tech, but could have used a different approach to the captures they made in house. If you have jam points use them to get the pedal is my advice. And if you really only work in the box, getting AXE solo on sale which comes with SE would be the other deal.
  2. There isn't any political reference to actually edit.
  3. Melodyne is used a ton instead. 😁
  4. Looks good too, and resizable. I expect I'll actually use this one unlike most freebies.
  5. Still haven't authorized the last two free HLS channels I got. Will be in for a 3rd
  6. It has one, it just isn't very good
  7. As I logged into my account to grab this one also noticed a few recent updates for other products I own. Electric Matter - Feb 2024 LDC2 Compander - Mar 2024 Pre X7 - Feb 2024
  8. Terrible. I've got 2 of them but this kind of thing confirms my suspicion that IKM really has some growing to do on the physical guitar product front. They feel well built, but you also have to account for the fact that these things are meant to take some abuse - being stepped on, tripped over, etc.
  9. I updated this when it was released, great to have an option on the pedal - though wish it was good enough to replace my Sonic Research tuner. I ran a test tuning the best I could with TONEX, then checked against the SR TT and some strings needed refinement.
  10. They have had sales like this for many years - where it isn't the best price but it also isn't the every day price. BX Enhancer likely hasn't been below $30 though which is what this deal would offer. This sale might be a strategic move to make future sales look better.
  11. I'd be shocked if they haven't hit the number already - but haven't seen anything and agree they likely won't rush to change the wording or to send it out - as that will certainly get posted in a variety of places the extra deal is off. I grabbed it in less than a hour of the OP with hopes to get Galaxy as that is likely of more appeal to me than this one knob, 3 flavor saturator is.
  12. Yes, as do I. However - most of those other ones I've bought into were not like the, let me grab that extra channel strip that is crippled or virtually the same as what I have because it is only $15 for the next 2 days purchases. Thus for my own spending, I think I bought more from PA in particular that is rotting away. Having virtually all of the amp sims is a great example. TONEX literally made them obsolete in one go.
  13. Yeah, Melda has a replacement for Metric AB. Streamliner I only find as a fascination, I'm not concerned with the different codecs of platforms I don't care about handle things. But understand those that do need to cater to the masses.
  14. Yeah, but I'm starting to envy those that didn't spend close to a grand on $7 - $30 deals during the heyday only to get a bunch of plugins realistically we never use and don't need. All of which have no resale value. At least right now there is no temptation. At this point, I only value about 5 of them or so. Cenozoix Comp (not available during the extreme discounts) Amek 9099 Kirchhoff-EQ (not available during the extreme discounts) And I use some others of course, but could be replaced by other things I have. All those amp sims replaced by TONEX.
  15. Also this is pretty big news assuming the thing is the garbage tuner that is in Tonex desktop app (or the AXE IO) I can't possibly see it competing with my Sonic Research Turbo Tuner, but if it is at least part of the way there that is a major convenience.
  16. They made tons of money. 90 person company just sold for somewhere between 400M and 1B+ There is zero indication that the pricing model wasn't working for them (and us). The only reason for subscription here is greed. The whole point of the company and model - the reason they grew the base was because they did NOT do what their competitor did. Have you read the posts in reaction to this announcement (the affinity forum, Instagram, YouTube)? This isn't a company that sold because they lacked paying customers or turning a profit on those customers.
  17. Yamaha didn't kill off Steinberg - but they are also still have "old school" pricing model and just discontinued VST2. I personally wouldn't view them as a customer friendly company. Image Line hasn't killed those off, but in what way are they better now? Melda is the only one that I really use (but own products from the other two) and I haven't seen any material improvement whatsoever. The positive is simply that they don't feel like they have changed but that doesn't make them "better" now. Melda thus far as least isn't a case of another company stepping in and ruining everything thus far which normally happens.
  18. Terrible news for everyone other than Affinity leadership that had an equity stake in the deal (whom can now afford an Adobe Subscription)
  19. Link to video? While I'm aware Reaper has tons of customizations, I have yet to find anything that wouldn't take a Full time job to make work as easily as Cakewalk in addition to looking as pleasing (I use a custom Cakewalk theme - not the default)
  20. I'm sure it was sarcasm as Bandlab has been able to pull stats for YEARS now on end users using Cakewalk and having to re-authenticate every 6 months.
  21. Nope, haven't tried VST2 yet as I always avoid installing both when there is a VST3 option. Given that Steinberg Discontinued VST2, I figure the emphasis from devs should be VST3 (even though it can have some "quirks")
