These have been out for about 20 days. Note these are not the "editor" tonex updates we have been waiting for - that comes out mid March. -
So you do use EQ but you are letting machine learning do the EQ for you, it seems this in part contradicts your theory as the point of Izotope and SmartEQ is to make the choices a seasoned experience producer would take, that is what the "listen" function does. Most of the time those tools make things sound better than I would on my own (better grasp of bringing out the key elements and reducing things that muddy things or mask areas). EQ is easily the most important aspect of mixing using anything other than the Faders,

Coming Soon: Scaler 3 - buy Scaler 2 now, get the upgrade free

From what I recall Scaler 1 was discounted for the first time before the scaler 2 launch. They priced scaler 1 so that the Scaler 1 + scaler 2 upgrade were as low as you could get Scaler 2 for and they didn't have a extra discount plus free upgrade grace period Scaler 2 upgrade came out around (for about $15) 5-25-2020, which is quite a bit different than when bluzdog suggesting the upgrade was given to him. I'm guessing this was a fluke or he had $9 in virtual cash with PB to cover the deeper upgrade discount. -
unsuccessful login means they simply have your email address. If you buy the enterprise MS account and have the advanced threat protection service add on you can be notified of any successful attempts (that are outside your physical area). It can also block those attempts depending on the settings. 2FA should be required for anything that has personal and financial data. Things like SoundCloud shouldn't force it on you, but should have it as an option (some people really care about their music or are big enough that a compromised account would be very bad PR of someone started posting things.

It will be $29 USD there. It isn't out for another month for the update. -

I don't know if they are going to change something but previously they indicated that with this change of them having both the direct path and through PB that upgrades for old PB users would have to be done via PB. I'm sure they will say more about it at launch. You are correct there was never an additional account activation, simply the wonderful authorization system. -
Sure, PM sent along with some "proof" that it applies to the EQ as well.

I'd let my forever $29 voucher go for as low as $40 USD. That would make it $41. There is no transfer fee with a voucher buying the plugin from someone would have the $20 transfer fee.

Lower CPU usage is the only thing that comes to mind when compared to something like the Mix and Master bundle or Smart EQ4. Yes, you could also get into some eccentric differences with the crazy number of curves, bands and options in combo with the dynamic EQ - but practically for most people, I don't think the core of what it does is materially different. I have found it sounds better in an A/B test than other EQs using extreme adjustments, but honestly negligible for any normal use/testing/ears.
-
Fab has a better UI. Though this is a good option for someone that wants quality and low CPU consumption for close to 1/3 the price. If the investment is already in proQ4 this wouldn't even move the needle.
-
It has only hit that price with Forever $29. Which hasn't been offered for new signups in TWO YEARS! Always excluded from the really deep discounts. Hornet is not a viable alternative here. Fabfilter and Melda would be. Sonible is good but my experience with the ones I have is too much CPU for a do it all workhorse.
-
I'd sell my Forever $29 code for less than that, which gets the same thing (or other)
-
it isn't authorizing for me even though the installer is in my user area and says the particular computer is authorized (with more authorizations available). Not off to a good start.
-
All good ideas/process but still requires that beast of an installer (and the repeat of that installer every time they update). I've got most of them but just seems like a massive disc space waste as I honestly only use a few of them.
-
I like the IKM one, but for a lot of people that don't own the whole suite (I own most of it), the fact it requires you to download an insanely large install just to run what you do have might be enough to make someone take the UAD freebie and deal with ilok.

Honestly if they add the ability to simply record a few tracks of audio and host say a Drum VST that I wouldn't have scaler actually playing any of the notes - it looks like it could replace basic daw use. But recording audio is a pretty big part of that package. Even if it can't this is a great addition/update but adding that would make this much more. -
I use the turbo reverb the most. I have difficulty getting the turbo delay to act and sound like a guitar pedal delay or the binson echrec. It seems like the UI isn't well thought out for those of us coming from guitar pedal land.
-
I also don't use this one for similar reasons but hope that one day it gets features added and a facelift and redesign on the modules. So it could be a $9 gamble for some. That said, Toneboosters EQ pro seems like the better option to put money towards for actual usage.

Given they are adding in arrangement tracks, I'm expecting more sounds so that you can demo ideas within the plugin/standalone without having to get into routing to other vsts until you want to mix/add to the piece. The footprint at ~1GB currently is quite small compared to other VSTi in 2024 especially one that offers more value than you continue to give it credit for. -

Respectfully no you can't replicate what Scaler does with some scripts in Reaper. You can potentially replicate some ideas of what Scaler 2 can do. But if you are not getting the same full blown Scaler functionality out of some Reaper scripts. If that is all the functionality you want out if it, great, but this post comes across as misleading as the what Scaler actually can do.
