  1. I paid about the same just for the Omega synth some time ago. No upgrade path available. Live & learn, once again.

    PA XMAS

That's a crazy good deal! Is there a generic $25 voucher this month? I still don't get any email from PA.
  3. The correct way to go about this is to buy either one, it doesn't matter which. Then play with it until you realize that it's not quite what you're looking for, so you buy the other one too. After playing with those you will feel like you're still missing something, so you go looking for another library. After buying whatever you settled on there will be another honeymoon period, until you notice that you're not really happy with some of the articulations and also the legato is lacking, especially when doing faster passages. And you really need some better solo instruments. So you go looking for another library... Buying orchestral libraries is a path paved with regret and disappointment, no matter how many hours you spend on doing research. In all seriousness: If your usage is limited either one may be all you ever need and some of the cheaper libraries may serve you equally well. The common consensus seems to be that HO is better suited for film scoring and BBCSO for traditional orchestral music, but HO might be a better all rounder. There are plenty of threads at VI-Control comparing the two, so spending some time there is recommended to get a better idea what's what.
  4. I guess I'll wait for the real loyalty price, then.
  5. What you're basically saying is: "I am not aware that I am in need of more pianos", right? I suggest you pass this sale, use what you have and time will tell if you need more pianos or not. This is not a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Thanks. That is exactly what I meant.
  6. I'm definitely buying Solaria and Asterian, but I'm struggling to figure out if I should get Natalie or Weina. Weina is supposedly more advanced ("a culmination of arts and artificial intelligence") but I haven't been able to find any actual information about it. It's certainly more expensive (€87 vs €142) but if I get the bundle the price difference is smaller (€166 vs €202, prices include tax). Both voices sound good to me.
  7. Oh, you meant that as an interface example? Yeah, that would be cool, mutating the virtual drummer by making kit and style selections like that.
  8. Ah, what I meant with unique drum tracks was that an actual drum kit (plugin) would be used, but the results would be generated on the fly based on other instruments. Similar to what Jamstix does, but it would take it further by analyzing the styles of real drummers and learning their styles, and then applying that to the music that you're writing. Then you would use it by giving it instructions like "play it with finesse like Lars Ulrich", "mixture of Dave Grohl and PavlovsCat", or "more aggressively and go with half-time feel on the last chorus", things like that. But that Google thing was new to me, so thanks for that.
  9. I predict that in the very near future we get some kind of AI thingy for percussion (and probably for bass too), where you can generate unique drum tracks in the style of your favorite drummer, or "raise" your own drummer with its own style based on your preferences. So in that context I wouldn't invest in Jamstix before seeing what tomorrow brings.
  10. I believe I paid less for the full version than some (many? most?) people paid for the Opus upgrade. I have set my expectations accordingly.
  11. Sampletekk's product line is really confusing with all the different versions and bundles that aren't obvious bundles. I have these: TVBO (TBO & 7CG combined?) Black Grand Mk II (includes all the Black Grand variants?) Blue Grand MK II WG2 Mk II (includes the White Sister & White Grand Mk II?) Rain Piano Mk II These are the "best" and most complete versions to have, right?
  12. There are. One legitimate source is Plugin Alliance and their Mixed with Mega sessions. Splice and Skiomusic have mixing contests with downloadable stems. Then there is a site called Mix The Music, but it seems to be malfunctioning at the moment. Edit: It also requires Studio One. You can also find less official multitracks by googling something like "remix packs" or "song stems".
  13. They should've started with this one, though this time it's the relaxed tone of voice that doesn't quite match the music, IMO. But sounding much more promising!
  14. Eh, I caved in. Can't really argue with the price anymore, and even when the lowest price was closer to $400 everyone said that of all the orchestral libraries it's the best value for money. I had previously dismissed this because I thought the sound was too smooth for my taste, but I have since realized that I sometimes need that kind of sound. I still like grittier strings but they don't always sit well in the mix. And who knows, maybe now I'll start doing more orchestral stuff. Now I just need to make some space for it!
  15. That BFD forum is pretty depressing to read. But if you have bought BFD3, it looks like you're eligible for a free expansion pack as "a gift for migrating to the InMusic servers". Your choices are: Crush Oblivion Horsepower Jazz Noir Metal Snares Details here: BFD3 | Redeeming Your Free Expansion Pack Also, three BFD expansions are available in another form in Chocolate Audio's Drum Particles collection, still available via Audio Plugin Deals for $69. (The counter shows zero but you can still add it to the shopping cart.) It uses Chocolate Audio's own Kontakt instrument, so you are of course missing the BFD interface and all that it brings, but personally I think CA's player looks like it does the basics well enough, if you're not a drummer (YouTube walkthrough). Drum Particles contains: The Black Album ($59 as BFD XP) Modern Retro ($49) Imperial ($49) Contemporary Vintage (not available as a BFD xp, I think)
  16. I think it was on sale when it first came out and a couple of times after that. At the moment you get a free expansion when you buy EZBass, so that's an ~€80 discount right there.
  17. Remember to check the crossgrade prices! For example, if you have Physion you can get SplitEQ much cheaper. If you missed a crossgrade opportunity (that is, paid full price), try contacting Eventide support as soon as possible. They might be able to work out something for you. Speaking from experience, I can say that six three months later is too late.
  18. I believe I have similar uses for strings as you and I too am looking for something dry, but the Virharmonic Cello doesn't sound that wet to me. I'll have to listen to it some more. From what I can remember I agree with you that Tina Guo sounds pretty wet. I listened to the Sonixinema demos on YouTube and the legato sounds pretty good but I wasn't sold on the Contempary Soloist. And to get the same range of expression from Sonixinema's cellos as you get from Bohemian I think you need to buy both Intimate Legato and Contempary Soloists, and that costs you £127 or about €148, the same as Bohemian. Of course, a solid plan B would be to use what I have, like Audio Imperia's Solo or 8dio's Intimate Strings or one of the cheap, simple cellos I've bought. Currently the only naked cello part I have is an intro for a song, other times it's somewhere there buried under everything else, so an additional expensive library would probably be wasted on me. But it does sound so lovely!
  19. This is how I understand it, too. So buying Lite bundle and upgrading to Nucleus (with additional $75) is basically "buy Nucleus, get Areia Lite and Chorus Lite for free". Once you have full Nucleus you can upgrade it to Jaeger for $199. You can't use any of the credit you get from the Lite bundle towards Jaeger. Only Nucleus, Areia or Chorus are valid upgrade paths.
  20. You're in the wrong forum to be saying things like that. We're all like you.
  21. Nucleus is on my list and I have Nucleus Lite, so I already have $79 credit towards the upgrade. I'm still not sure if buying the Lite Bundle would give me an additional $149 credit or if they cancel each other out. I've asked AI a couple of times about it but I guess they're really busy now.
  22. "Up to 60% off." Intimate Strings bundle is 50% off, others look to be mostly 40-50% off. https://www.embertone.com/browser.html
  23. So if I'm missing dedicated solo libraries for Violin and Cello, are these the ones to get instead of, say Tina Guo or Joshua Bell?
  24. "All* plugins". * not the ones you want
  25. https://store.cherryaudio.com/ Looks like there is no further discount for owners of the Rackmodule plugin bundle.
